Seasons refresh ideas #1 - New gameplay and chores

Roof gutters:

We only have drainpipes from Get Together and gutters can be a good addition to TS4. With a Seasons refresh, gutters can be added in two different types: the steel from GT and plastic ones.

During autum/fall and winter, Sims must clean the roof gutters clicking in the drainpipe, otherwise, they will suffer the consecuences of rain leaks from the roof.

The roof gutters based in Get Together drainpipes will be released as BG update, but only decorative.

Swimming pool cleaning:

This gameplay was featured in TS Freeplay using two objects: a leaf skimmer / net and a internal filter. This gameplay can be replicated in TS4 with a Seasons refresh, due the leaves and another small fauna like mosquitoes or even frogs. Sims can clean the swimming pool manually with the leaf skimmer / net, the same one from Get Together or using an internal filter. Filters can be upgraded as well like other appliances.

Wood chopping

I would love to see wood chopping in a Outdoor Retreat refresh but I think Seasons can be used as well due the drop of temperature and weather events like rain, snow or maybe hail. Wood chopping can be a good way to think twice about using a fireplace or a thermostat. With this upgrade, all the off the grid appliances that uses either wood or coal like stoves, grills or fireplaces will need to be filled with wood, chopped thanks to a new shed (again, from Get Together). Two new harvestables will be available: pine and eucaliptus, that Sims must chop or order raw wood using a laptop. Sims also can salvage furniture into wood and using it in the woodworking table.

Lawn mowing

With the lack of gardening (besides harvestables) and yard care from past games like random weed, brushes growing and trimming, lawn mowing can be a good way to take care the gardens. Sims must buy a new lawn mower to cut the grass without much effort and using it as fertilizer. Brushes trimming will be featured as well.

  • Only if there's a toggle to turn the chores off. There's a reason I never bought Bust the Dust - I don't need that level of realism in the game.

I do like the idea of being able to add gutters, though.
  • As @DaWaterRat says, it would be nice just if we can able/disable the system, as we can with snow/rain/fog and idontremember what
  • I wish they would bring back landscape gardening where we could trim hedges and rose bushes. Sometimes I'd like my sims to be green fingered and do some gardening but vegetable plot just doesn't go very well with their image.
  • I like your idea and I would like to add Leaf Blowers to your suggestion. I was thinking this a few days ago, when my Sims were raking leaves during the fall seasons.

I think our parent Sims should give their children Sims chores, like raking leaves or mowing the lawn. Should we also include having children earning an allowance for doing scheduled chores? We have that bulletin board and that Calendar. Why not allow parents to organize chores and responsibility routines for their children? Maybe even a small reward system. The kid can just go up the board, view it and have them do what they are assigned to do.

Snow shoveling as well for children

Childrens can offer their services to neighbords for some bucks, including gutters cleaning, lawn mowing, snow shoveling, pool cleaning and leaf raking.

I don't know if I'd want children cleaning the pool. But, I would have the teenagers do it. Maybe that is just me though. I don't know what's normal for pools.
