SHE'S GOING TO DIE!!!
Hysterics are genetic. Marina's mom was a comedian who died from hysterics while practicing her routine at home just days after Marina was born. Bobby, Marina's dad, wrote the following epitaph on his late wife's tombstone. "Her death was hysterical." It wasn't out of disrespect because he loved his wife. It was just that it's how she died and lived.
Back story complete, it's Harvestday and I was working with Stetson, Marina's oldest but yet younger half-brother. I started switching between the different family members just to check on them when I came to Marina. My breath stopped! Marina had become hysterical and on Harvestday!
I jumped into 911 emergency mode. I packed her in ice, wrapped her in a blanket and gently, soothingly escorted her to the nearest mirror to get her to calm down. It's touch-and-go at the moment.
*Bobby soothingly said to Marina in a gentle voice, "come on baby, you can do this. You're strong. We all believe in you. We're here for anything you need.
Kyoshi, Marina's step-father, stands quietly to the side wringing his hands and praying for a miracle. It is Harvestday after all.
Pierce, Marina's BFF from childhood and soul mate, with tears in his eyes, stands behind his love silently encouraging her with his presence while rubbing her back lightly.
Stetson, the oldest brother tries to be strong for his big sister. The only sign of fear and emotion visible as he gathers in the bathroom with the others is the quivering of his lip. He knew the story of her mother; they all did. He refused to accept that his sister who had once sprayed away the monster under his bed could be taken from him like that. He would fight the Grim Reaper himself to prevent that.
Haileigh, the youngest, cries quietly in the corner confused and terrified.
Rylan, the youngest son and second youngest sibling, looks at the scene with curiosity. Somehow he knows that what he is going to do is wrong but he has to lighten the mood. He asks "did you hear the joke about the chicken, duck and llama?"
