Build-n-Share Challenge #81 - The GypsiesChallenge Deadline: Wednesday 8th November 2017"He looks so sad," you think, studying the teenage boy staring down at the sidewalk as the door behind him shut. As you approach, he looks up and straightens his shoulders. A faint "I'm ok" smile crosses his lips and fails to reach his midnight sky eyes.
Unable to help yourself, you give a friendly, comforting smile. "Is everything ok?"
"I, uh, yeah," he glances back at the door behind him. "Yeah." He repeats, that fake smile leaving his face. Forgetting your presence, he mutters, "It will be fine. I'll find someone else who will help."
You glance at the door, a realtor company. You also frown, knowing them to not always be the most open minded of people. "Wanting to buy a house?" You ask curiously.
He jumps. "Huh? Oh. Kind of. Not really a house. Its fine."
Intrigued you smile, "Maybe I can help."
His eyes brighten, "Really?"
"Maybe," you gesture to a bench across the way. "Lets talk."
A few minutes later, the young man, introduced as Gio Cooper, turns to face you on the bench and begins his story. "My family and I, we travel a lot. Sometimes for work, sometimes just because there's some place we want to go see. We don't have a house really, just some RV's that we use to travel around. Its pretty neat." He sighs, "last year my da got sick. He didn't pay much attention to it. Said he had a cold. Ma finally made him go to the doctor when it didn't go away." His mouth tightens and he swallows hard, "The doctors say that it won't ever go away."
"I'm sorry." Your heart twists for him.
"Yeah. Anyway, the doctors, they say that he had a while yet and Da wants to keep traveling. But he has to keep coming back here, to Willow Creek, now. His doctor is at the hospital here." He falls silent for a while. "So, the rest of the family and me. We want to have a base. Got the money up and everything. But... No one will sell us some land."
You're silent for a moment, then "You will want a bathroom. Maybe a bunkhouse for cold weather. Kind of a lodge maybe." Gio stares at you as you yank out your phone to take notes. "How many RVs are there?"
"Uh...3." He says uncertainly.
"Electrical hook ups..." you trail off muttering to yourself. Then you look up at him. "What budget?"
"$35,000 I think." Gio says, staring at you like you're crazy.
You grin and stand up, "come on. I have a friend who is selling some land." And head off, with Gio scrambling up to follow you.

- A lodge for when the weather draws in
- A communal bathroom area
- Any lot size 40x30 or larger
- Budget - $75,000 to include building the three 'RV's'
NB - The number of Sims catered for is up to you on this one, could be 4, could be 20.
Sim Challenge:Create Gio Cooper and show him looking around the new site.
Room Challenge:Just one RV is required, with a budget of $15,000, but it must include a kitchen area, a dining area, somewhere to sleep and a small water closet. You can find details on how to build an 'apartment' style room (i.e. a room with enclosed area's)

ENTRY DETAILS: I made the "base" for the RVs kind of like a campground. I wanted them to be able to park their RVs and live out of them but then also use the public bathroom/showers as well as the lodge area to hang out together. I added in a few things outdoors for them to do together. Landscaping is very minimal but I wanted to make the RV builds the focal point.

ENTRY DETAILS: RV's is not something I see a lot of, so I hope I've done them right I wanted it to look like the structure of the bathrooms and the lodge had been there a long time, maybe only recently "upgraded" but with the old feel still there. With the RV's I tried to make them complete with the "car" part so they are supposed to look like they are able to drive away. I added a small bathroom in the RV where I've made room for a toddler. I also wanted the RV's to look a little worn out on the inside, to give them a more "lived in" feeling.

The rest of his large family have not moved in to Willow Creek yet. Gino is a quick learner, loves to socialize and prides himself to be an insider. He loves his family very much but can be a bit moody, he's a teenager after all. Papa Yoska is very family oriented and little Simza is a wild one.

ENTRY DETAILS: CHALLENGE #81: The Gypsies These Gypsies are the modern variety. They prefer the amenities of made in America RVs with all the comforts that go with it. This is a trailer park with a very rustic theme. The 3 camper-trailers are large and comfortable. The lodge serves more as a community recreation center and meeting house. These Gypsies have all their needs met in the RVs. The lodge has activities such a chess, reading and painting. There is also a guitar that will no doubt be welcome at the fire pit. There is a double fishing pond, lots of trees for shade and lovely flowers tucked into the ample greenery, here and there. Lots of fruit trees for a healthy dietary supplement. As well as bathrooms in the RVs, there are public facilities that will serve a minimum of 6 people at any given time. I settled for 8 Sims on the lot for the sake of people that might download. There are 3 families; a family for each of the 3 RVs. The whole caravan tribe does seem to love the park!

I wanted this build to reflect a gypsy caravan park with a bright bohemian look and old school vardos. I had images of gypsies dancing and singing around campfires and townies coming to the lot to have their fortunes told. I wanted one of the caravans to be family-sized and allow for toddlers/children. I added the “anything goes party bush” so that the occupants of the single caravans have a place to woo-hoo.

This is a CC free lot. However I would like to credit @Brennachan whose build "The Wagon of Windenburg" formed the inspiration for the bottom frame and wheels of the caravans (used with permission). I just put my own twist on the wheels.

ENTRY DETAILS: Mt. Willow Lodge is a mountain lodge situated in the wilderness of Willow Creek. It includes space for 3 RV's, a lodge where one can enjoy some TV, read a book, play chess or have a drink (or coffee). The lodge has communal bathrooms with separate toilet and shower areas. There is also an outdoor BBQ area, a fire pit and a fishing pond for those fishing enthusiasts.
I decided to make a few different RV's; one luxury RV and two lower end trailer RV's. I added a bedroom to the lodge, because I wanted Gio's dad to have a cozy bedroom to rest in when stopping by for medical treatment. I also added the cork board with postcards where the family can hang up postcards from travelling around.

HEREENTRY DETAILS: I went for an urban RV park, situated right in the middle of town. Built from an old parking lot with an unused storage unit, this urban RV park has enough space for 3 RVs, a picnic area, and a lounge/communal shower area. Each RV has a bedroom, a dining area, a kitchen area, and a small water closet. The communal showers are divided into male and female areas, with the powder room being communal. The shared lounge is where people can have recreation and sleep, and it includes bunk beds and futons. The picnic area was unearthed from the former pavement, and it now has a bonfire and buffet/grill area for parties.

Bohemian LodgeENTRY DETAILS: I wanted it to be colorful and Bohemian but still look like a 'lodge'. I made Daya (mom) a card reader and set up her vardo as a place for her to work. I figured they'd want to hold extended family gatherings during the summer, so the lodge sleeps 8 and one toddler. The three vardos sleep 8 as well. I placed the build in Willow Creek on the Garden Essence lot (BFF) to keep Da close to his doctors.

His Name is GioENTRY DETAILS: I made Gio a Romany young man even though the brief kinda hinted at Irish traveller (Da?) The brief made him sound so sad I made him gloomy, and family oriented and romantic with a soulmate aspiration. Thought he'd probably want that, being that he's so family oriented; a wife and a couple of children of his own...He has a level 6 fishing, level 5 handiness and a level 7 violin. All very useful skills at the lodge.
