Here.ENTRY DETAILS: I used the third plan from the article. I also was researching modern mid-century interior design aesthetic, decor, and color pallets. Everything seemed to be different shades of brown and white with wood and stone accents so I tried to stay to the theme, but I made the bedroom a little more colorful since I didn't want the entire house to be only brown and white. The landscaping is simple around the home, but since Hope is a loner I created a path for her to walk in nature when she wants fresh air and inspirationAnglin. Since she is maxed in the handiness skill, I figured she liked tinkering so I placed a wood crafting table for her to use as well as using the space in the hallway as a small art studio since she is creative as well.

I tried to make it as cozy and cool as possible for an artist. I used buydebug objects and selfmade paintings I hope that's ok and you all like.

ENTRY DETAILS: This is copied from the "Dunland", number 3 on the web page. This seemed like a good size for a mean loner. I doubt she would be entertaining many people and clearly had, had enough of household maintenance, (“Let Hope fix it.” I am getting sick and tired...), so I gave her something simple and easy to manage with Gnomes to make life easier. For her creative side the house traits also include Home Studio and Natural Light. Given Hope's handiness, I did give her plenty to do a fishing pond, swimming pool, Bonsai tree, musical keyboard, guitar, chess, yoga mat, painting easel, and a computer of superior quality for writers. I tried to duplicate the exterior as faithfully as Sims 4 building would allow. The interior was created after a study of many interiors found in houses built in that style. What did seem clear to me is that wood paneling was all the rage in houses like the Dunland. Ceiling lighting is to one side because, true to the Dunland design the Kitchen and living area have vaulted ceilings. Sims 4 does not permit hanging lights from the second story and any attempt to do so leaves them hanging in mid air. The alternative was to leave a small partial ceiling and place a light on the opposite vaulted wall. The kitchen is laid out in a similar fashion to the floor plan in the article. I did include a kind of "pantry" and a sort of "linen closet". I would have loved a fireplace but that would put a chimney on the roof where there clearly was none in the pictures of the house. I have allowed for all possible creative pursuits because Ms. Potts expressed diverse interests. Clearly she would prefer to put her handiness to use for her own pleasure, now.

ENTRY DETAILS: I used the Dallas floor plan. I felt it had more space than the smaller one bedroom and I wanted to make the garage her art studio. I decorated in a colorful mid-century style and placed some art work I felt went with the style. I stuck to the floor plan as well as I could to get the same look. I did make one pantry a half bath as I felt it would be nice to have one close to her art studio. The 3 smaller bedrooms are sparsely furnished as I felt being a single sim, who was a loner, she would not have much use for them at the moment, and I wanted to spend most of her funds on the main parts of the house she would be living in. I did have the more expensive appliances but had to replace with cheaper ones but the color looks better in the home, so it worked out. I tried to keep in mind her loner trait so she only has a small dining table, but there are bar stools at the counter and a table outside if she ever feels like entertaining. I hope Miss Potts is happy here.

ENTRY DETAILS: I chose The Dallas (Plan #1247) because it offered separated area's for writing and creativity and the open single level floor layout, where if entertaining guests they can easily mingle about without walls being in the way of the kitchen and living area's and is adjacent to the back deck for more seating and BBQ. Two guest bedrooms should any guest be invited to spend more time or they can be used for an expanding family. The garage has been converted to a room for painting, practicing music or working at the wood carving station with ample wall space for displaying any masterpieces or wood work and a Study separate for the needed seclusion for any writer or work at home sim.

HereENTRY DETAILS: I chose the Mitchell Glenn as my house plan. Plan can be found here.
I tried to keep as true to the plan as possible, and not just having the layout correct, but the dimensions too. It's not perfect, but it's what I got!
I decided to add a pool area and added some hedges to provide some privacy. Hope can also enjoy eating or lounging outside on the back patio. For the interior I tried to go for a more crisp Scandinavian style. I have kept fairly true to the plan for the interior, including the laundry room. I did however make one of the bedrooms into a study, as I felt Hope as a loner would benefit more from that than having 3 bedrooms. As for the garage I tried to create it as a crafts room, but still have it look like a garage that can still be used (if she cleans up that is). The small cabinet on the wall by the door is meant to be an electrical cabinet (that's often in garages right?). The garage has all of Hope's painting equipment, but also a work bench for her to be doing repairs and such.

ENTRY DETAILS: Atomic Bungalow is a midcentury modern property built using the Mitchell Glen plans. As this is a 3 bedroom property and Hope is a loner sim I have turned one of the rooms into a writing/study room whilst retaining the build in wardrobe space as per the plans. The third bedroom I have left as a single guest room as she may have a single family member visit at some point. The floor plans are in an L shape which gave great views of the back garden to which I have added swimming pool.
I had to make compromises as cash ran out as did my time (it is currently 23.50 UK time and I'm just about getting it in!!)

hereENTRY DETAILS: Hope Springs Eternal is a mid-century modern home for Hope Potts and her dog Cleo, modeled after The Dunland houseplan. I tried to stay true to the layout adding only a window to the mechanical room, which has been turned into an art/craft room instead. Since she wanted a home that reminded her of her childhood, I also decorated the interior in a mid-century modern style using primarily shades of orange and turquoise. I included a number of things that a loner might like in her house: a computer for writing, an easel and workbench, a chess table, a pool, and a yoga/meditation area. I also gave her a vegetable garden and a nice side yard in which she can play with Cleo.

ENTRY DETAILS: Where There's Hope was built specifically for Hope Potts and her grumpy, creative, loner lifestyle. This build is mainly base game, with a couple of decorative pieces from Spa Stuff, but nothing you couldn't live without ;) A fully fenced in rear garden, means she's never interrupted by unwelcome visitors while she's working out there. Inside, Hope has decorated for Christmas, she may be a grump, but she's not a Grinch! The open plan living/dining and kitchen area has been decorated in cool blues and bright yellows. Her bedroom is a sanctuary in wood and green tones, as is her spacious bathroom, complete with built-in linen cupboard.
I chose to use the The Dunland as the base for Hope's home.

HereENTRY DETAILS: I've never done the Sim challenge, so not sure if there are any requirements to the slideshow for this?
I try to create a story when making Sims, it helps me to have a direction. For Hope I molded it around the few things we already knew about her.
In my story, Hope lost her mother at a young age. She was never able to accept the loss, and carrying the resentment gave her a mean streak, and she started keeping to herself becoming a loner. In her solitude she often finds peace in her creative outlets, such as writing and painting.
Because of what happened to her mother, Hope always wanted to build a home to honor her and all the good times she remembers growing up. She even started preferring to dress in 50's style clothing, feeling it bringing her closer to her mother's memories. Therefore I tried to keep to this theme when creating Hope, which means some odd choices particularly for her gym outfit.
