#BnS89 - The Hawthorne Project - VII
Challenge Deadline: Wednesday 7th March 2018
You are sat at your desk, just staring into space when Karl's knock brings you back to the present. He brings in today's post and your first cup of coffee. You leaf through all the usual circulars and bills until you find an envelope with your name styled in fancy calligraphy, curious, you open it. It's a thank you card from your previous client, Louise Ehrmantraut.
"That's so very sweet of her." You think to yourself, so much of life these days is electronic, it's lovely to have thankyou that you can hold in your hand.
Speaking of electronic, you wonder if the email you were expecting arrived while you were daydreaming. Taking a sip of the coffee that Karl bought you, you open your email client and there it is, sat at the top of your emails.

Please tell us a little bit about yourself, and your family if appropriate, and why you are applying to The Hawthorne Project.
Hi. I am Abagail Unruh. I met my husband Micah in high school. He was captain of the football team and I was captain of the cheerleading squad. It was expected that we would date. I feel head over heels for Micah, who was so loving and kind and gentle. There were no signs of the man I now know. We were married right out of high school. Lily and Byron were born within a year of our wedding, and are now 15. Chloe was born when the twins were 7. When the twins were 9 and Chloe was 2, Micah got injured on the field, and could no longer play football. He started drinking and has been so angry ever since. He drank his way through all the money he earned playing football. When the money started to run low he got even angrier. The first time he hit me I was so shocked I didn't know what to do. I thought it was just a one-time thing because of the stress he was under. Then it happened again and again. He never did anything in front of the kids. It was always when we were alone, or in our room. I stayed because I didn't want anyone to know. I was so ashamed and was sure I had done something wrong every time. Then one day Byron got caught cheating on a test and was suspended for 3 days from school. Micah was so angry and started pushing Byron around. Lily screamed at him to stop and called the police. I was picking Chloe up from school. Micah was charged with assault, and I reported him for abusing me for the last 5 1/2 years. That was 6 months ago. He is now in jail and our divorce was just finalized. After Micah got charged the police took the kids and I to a transition house. After Micah went to jail I found out he had taken out a loan against the mortgage and had been gambolling away everything we owned. The mortgage went into foreclosure and we lost the house. We had to sell everything to pay off his gambolling debts. I am applying to the Hawthorn Project to get a fresh start for me and my kids. I just want to be the best parent I can be to them, and teach them that when life gets hard, there is always a reason to hope. We have been going to family and individual counselling, which is really helping. Since leaving the transition house 3 months ago we have been living with my sister and her husband. They have a basement apartment that we have been using, but they need to rent it out for income since my sister will be on maternity leave soon. I have a job interview as a dishwasher tomorrow, and I am pretty sure I will get it. I have always been a good cook.
Tell us about your ideal home space: (You can use images if you wish)
Well, we don't need anything elaborate. We just need a roof over our heads. We need at least three bedrooms. The girls can share a room if they need to. I know Lily would really like her own room, with a small space to practice her music, but she understands that we all have to sacrifice sometimes. Chloe is very smart and wants to be a dr someday, so will need a place to study and work on her logic. Byron should have his own room being the only boy. He is athletic just like his dad. He wants to join the football team and needs a place that he can work out. For me, I just need a small bedroom with a small 3 piece bathroom attached. I would like a nice kitchen with a table where we can sit and have our meals together. A family room with games and a tv would be good. We really need a space to be able to spend some time together and be able to just sit and talk if we need to.
THE BRIEF:
Create a new home for the Unruh's, the style and lot size is up to you completely. You can download the family here.
Each home/homes must include a computer, a vegetable garden, a chess table, an easel, at least one musical instrument, at least one piece of fitness equipment (not including a TV or a yoga mat) and a bookcase.

ENTRY DETAILS: I decided to make sure that Lily could have her own room so from the very start I knew I wanted 4 bedrooms. I tried to add in some decor to really show off each Sim's personality, although I was at a loss for what to do with Abagail's Room. I also tried to make the home a decent size but still feel cozy and family oriented, I decided blue as an overall color theme was a nice choice aesthetically. This was also my first time using hiddenobjects so I tried to make more use out of those items.

ENTRY DETAILS: I felt it was important for Abagail and her children to have a home as upscale as possible within the budget and yet a feeling of happiness in the home for the entire family in hopes they can begin healing and living a life full of joy. I decided it was in good faith to allow them each a bedroom for complete privacy in the difference of their goals and personalities. Therefore it is a 4 bedroom 2 bath spacious home with a fireplace and completely ready to move into.

ENTRY DETAILS: Nestled in the heart of Windenburg, this 4BR 2 BA home just screams charm. Beautifully landscaped with a small vegetable/herb garden in the back, this home is close to many activities perfect for those family outings. Each room has been decorated for each family member's personality. The only thing missing is a pet, but have no fear, there's plenty of room for all the pet care essentials.

ENTRY DETAILS: I've never completed an entire house build on a budget, but this challenge really inspired me so I wanted to give it a go. I wanted to give the Unruh family a beautiful, peaceful home, where they could be together and really enjoy spending family time. I knew from the start that all the kids should have their own bedroom, so the budget would be even tighter. That's when I decided to spend most of the money on building the home and not as much on furnishing it. I wanted to make sure they had enough space and a nice, open layout as well as many windows for a light and airy feel. I figured it was better to give them a nicer home to start off with and have them redecorate or add on over time. So that's why I kept the interior pretty simple. I still tried to add some color with different wallpapers and I hope the family will love their new home!

ENTRY DETAILS: Trashed 4 builds before I went looking for house images on google to base my build on. It has 4 bedrooms and 3 baths, game console in family room as well as toys. I wanted to keep the lawn lean and green but succumbed to a few rocks, aloe plants, flowers and extra trees. I'll add more notes to the slide show.

ENTRY DETAILS: From the start, I knew I wanted to give the kids their own rooms. Lily got a room where she can practise her music in peace, Chloe got a room where she can read her books, but still also be a kid, and Byron got a room where he can exercise too. The three of them will have to share a bathroom though, you can only do so much with §45k
I kept mum's rooms on the ground level, separate from the kids.
I wanted a lot of open space, where the family could be in the same room and yet separate if they wish. Downstairs is the living room with a console game, and that is open to the kitchen and dining area. Upstairs is a family room, with a game table, chess table, reading nook and a computer desk.
The back garden has fruit trees, herbs and vegetables (evolved to nice quality), as well as an easel and a basket hoop.

ENTRY DETAILS: Trashed 4 builds before I went looking for house images on google to base my build on. It has 4 bedrooms and 3 baths, game console in family room as well as toys. I wanted to keep the lawn lean and green but succumbed to a few rocks, aloe plants, flowers and extra trees. I'll add more notes to the slide show.

ENTRY DETAILS: This is a build I redid to fit my game and had no intention of entering until I read the new challenge and thought I might get away with staying within the budget. The outside was all done and I wanted to keep it close to the way it was so interior decorating suffered. Been a long time since I even felt like building so this is good for me

ENTRY DETAILS: From the start, I knew I wanted to give the kids their own rooms. Lily got a room where she can practise her music in peace, Chloe got a room where she can read her books, but still also be a kid, and Byron got a room where he can exercise too. The three of them will have to share a bathroom though, you can only do so much with §45k
I kept mum's rooms on the ground level, separate from the kids.
I wanted a lot of open space, where the family could be in the same room and yet separate if they wish. Downstairs is the living room with a console game, and that is open to the kitchen and dining area. Upstairs is a family room, with a game table, chess table, reading nook and a computer desk.
The back garden has fruit trees, herbs and vegetables (evolved to nice quality), as well as an easel and a basket hoop.
