#BnS90 - East Meets West
Challenge Deadline: Wednesday 21st March 2018
“I’m getting hungry!” Karl says to you, even though it is only an hour after you’ve both had lunch.
“Huh?” you respond.
“Your two o’clock appointment: they're both renowned chefs,” he winks.
You have been looking forward to meeting this husband and wife team, who are opening a new restaurant in Willow Creek. When Tiàowu Songshu and Clotilde St. Honoré walk in, you are struck by what an elegant pair they make.
“We met in Paris,” Clotilde tells you, “when Tiàowu was studying at the Cordon Bleu. I had a little pâtisserie in Caen and had come into town for the day. I won’t say it was love at first sight, but rather love at first bite. I knew I wanted this man the moment I tasted his rice flour crêpes filled with five-spice pork!”
“And she had me the first time I tasted her tarte Tatin,” her husband laughs.
“So what kind of restaurant are you looking to open,” you say, getting down to business.
“A pan-Asian fusion restaurant. We want to serve the best of Asia and Europe combined!” Tiàowu says enthusiastically.
“Of course, all the desserts will be French,” Clotilde inserts.
“Sounds wonderful!” you say. “What will you call it?”
Tiàowu answers, “Clotilde suggested ‘The King and Pie’, but Thai is only one of the Asian cuisines we will be referencing in the menu. So we’re open to suggestions.”
You discuss the budget and details and work out a building schedule.
“We’re eager to open up!” Clotilde tells you as the couple leaves.
“And I guarantee I’ll be your first customer!” you reply.
“Not if I get there before you do!” Karl interjects.
THE BRIEF:
Lot: demolish the Blue Velvet Nightclub in Willow Creek and build on that 20 x 30 site. The cost of the lot will not be part of the budget. The lot may be uploaded to the gallery as either a restaurant or a generic lot, and you, therefore, do not need the Dine Out pack to enter this challenge.
Architecture/Interior style: let the menu inspire your choices—a sophisticated combination of Asian and European influences!
Minimum requirements:
• kitchen (counter, stove or chef station, refrigerator, dishwasher and sink)
• tables and seating for at least 10 people
• host station (create one if you don’t have Dine Out)
• clearing area (waiter’s station if uploading as a restaurant)
• 2 toilets
• customer waiting area
• waste disposal
BUDGET: §80,000 (building cost alone)
SIM CHALLENGE: Create Tiàowu Songshu and Clotilde St. Honoré. They are both young adults and have the Master Chef aspiration. Their traits are up to you. Show them in their restaurant or enjoying another night spot in your game.

ENTRY DETAILS: I had a friend from Thailand and her name is Suong (pronounced like Sue) which she said their names have to have meaning and hers meant Morning Dew but the name also means Mist or Fog or Dewdrops.. I loved it.. so I named this restaurant after her. I hope I did ok yet all in all this was really fun build that I based it upon my memories of the many photos she used to show me of her travels in the Asian European countrysides.

ENTRY DETAILS: The King and Pie is an industrial-esq asian themed restaurant that brings in both the modern look of European restaurants with the pop of color inspired by asian culture that comes together for a unique look. Unique look and unique food and great atmosphere whats not to love about this restaurant?! **(the random lone counter that leads to the door to the patio area is for a waiter cleaning area, as is the podium in the waiting area. I DO NOT have Dine Out so some things will need to be changed!!!)**

Converted from an old colonial home, Maison Sinigang is a Euro-Southeast Asian fusion restaurant that specializes in serving regional stews, French pastries, and other local specialties. It follows the typical colonial architectural style seen throughout many places in Southeast Asia. The restaurant has outdoor seating by the veranda as well as in the garden. The customer waiting area features a seating area with a retail area strategically placed, which sells pastries, knick-knacks, and jarred sauces for extra revenue. Sinigang is a dish that has tamarind, kangkong, pork, onions, and tomatoes, which give it a savory and sour taste. Diners can refresh themselves from the rich flavors of Southeast Asian food by having French croissants and other pastries, freshly baked in the kitchen.

ENTRY DETAILS: I tried to go with "Frenchish" architecture with hints of Asian in the decor. The front room has multiple functions. There is a bar where you can wait for your table or pop in for a esspresso and a pastry late night, a waiting area for takeout orders and display cases with all the yummy pastrys for off the street customers and the hostess station. It could easily be switched over to a retail bakery if you wanted.

I knew I wanted to do a modern take on East Meets West with Asian-inspired elements rather than traditional Asian architecture. The architecture has wood siding mixed with concrete and steel. I thought the wood siding was reminiscent of traditional Japanese wooden structures . Inside, the furniture has a mix traditional western elements, such as the banquettes, and more modern modern ones like the glass tables and glass-top bar while the decorative elements have an Asian flair. There's an exhibition kitchen which means the food preparation process is part of the dining experience for patrons. In keeping with this, the food served is "Experimental" which sounded most like the Sims version of "Fusion" to me.

ENTRY DETAILS: I tried to go with "Frenchish" architecture with hints of Asian in the decor. The front room has multiple functions. There is a bar where you can wait for your table or pop in for a esspresso and a pastry late night, a waiting area for takeout orders and display cases with all the yummy pastrys for off the street customers and the hostess station. It could easily be switched over to a retail bakery if you wanted.

I knew I wanted to do a modern take on East Meets West with Asian-inspired elements rather than traditional Asian architecture. The architecture has wood siding mixed with concrete and steel. I thought the wood siding was reminiscent of traditional Japanese wooden structures . Inside, the furniture has a mix traditional western elements, such as the banquettes, and more modern modern ones like the glass tables and glass-top bar while the decorative elements have an Asian flair. There's an exhibition kitchen which means the food preparation process is part of the dining experience for patrons. In keeping with this, the food served is "Experimental" which sounded most like the Sims version of "Fusion" to me.
