Back to Basics
THE BRIEF:
Build a house for a four-person family (2 adults, 1 teen, 1 child or toddler — any genders, traditional or non-traditional family) with 3 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, kitchen, dining and living spaces, and fully landscaped on a 20 x 30 lot anywhere you choose. You may use base game materials only! (Hint: in Build/Buy mode, use the filter to check Base Game under Packs to make it easier to find base game materials.) The house can be any style inside and out.
BUDGET: §75,000 = Lot Cost + Building Cost
SIM CHALLENGE: Create a family (2 adults, 1 teen, 1 child or toddler) and show them enjoying life in their new home. Use base game materials only in creating them (hair, clothing, etc.).
ROOM CHALLENGE: Create a gourmet kitchen using base game materials only. Budget: §15,000.

I use base game only a lot with my builds that I upload to the gallery, mainly because I like to make sure everyone can enjoy the build without worrying that they won't get parts of the build once it's downloaded. The budget was a bit more of a challenge than I'm used to, it took a lot of going back over it and changing/removing things to get all of the elements into the build that I was looking for. I built this home for a Sim family that I made, Mum + Dad, Teen Eco-Warrior Son + Toddler Daughter. I like to build modern style homes, using bold colours and lots of windows and different layout styles. The garden has everything the family needs - play area, gardening plot, two pools (one in secret basement garden) and outdoor eating area. I've kept the living + dining space open and created an upstairs balcony that looks out over the kitchen, so the whole home is a pretty open design. The large outdoor balcony contains gym items so that the sims can exercise in the fresh air while looking at the view and I added a painting station so that the sims can get their creativity going in the outdoors. There's a bathroom downstairs and upstairs and a study with guitar for wannabe rockstar Dad. Really enjoyed this build as I wanted to get it as fully decorated as possible within the budget.

ENTRY DETAILS: I had a certain family in mind, when creating this build. Norman and Marcus, married for almost twenty years and still happy. As both are very artsy, they wanted to have a modern house. Big windows, lots of open space, yet defined. This is what I tried to give them with the open kitchen/dining area and the sunken living room. And with all the common space I created their mastersuite downstairs, with a small dressing room, as their adopted children Layla Chen and the teenageboy Victor Chen are old enough to have their bedrooms upstairs. The upstairs landing holds a little balcony, that overlooks the dining room, so it is easy to shout when dinner is ready. It also features a little creative nook with an easel for Marcus who likes to paint. And there is an outdoor deck for a cookout and a small pool for exercise. I think that is about it.

ENTRY DETAILS: This is a three bedroom, three bathroom home. In addition to the requirements, there is an office/study room as well as backyard activities for the family living there. The color scheme is very warm and rustic. The home is a mixture of contemporary/farm house style for the furnishings and overall design.

One level living in modern 3-bedroom house with all the right angles. Open concept. Tastefully decorated in neutral tones, the living , kitchen and dining area enhance the family togetherness. Enjoy life in Oasis Springs with your own pond for fishing within walking distance. Good schools for the kids nearby. Master bedroom with en-suite bathroom. Two bedrooms for the kids separated by the family bathroom. Bedroom currently resided by teen boy, who loves sci-fi and sports, and the other bedroom, for a young girl who loves everything pink. Spacious, enclosed backyard, perfect for entertaining. Bar-b-q and outdoor bar with eating area and pool to relax and swim. Chess under the stars and a fountain with low-maintenance flowers complete the backyard retreat. Child's painting area is outdoors as well. Lots of windows.

ENTRY DETAILS: This is my official entry; I named my lot 313 Flamengo Way and moved a family into it... the family i built for this challenge but not to enter into the Sim competition tho... they seem to love the home i built for them... I am slowly learning everything here... especially the values and taking proper photos without grid lines... but it is still a fun and interesting challenges. I don't really know what to say this time around because *phew!! I've been working hard trying to build this the right way... hopefully I did well... otherwise... I love learning and I love these challenges because I have learned so much and... still learning too. PS.. the original entry I had previously deleted because it really needed work.

ENTRY DETAILS: Well, the house was built with an established family in mind, and I hope you see a little of their personality and story within the walls. A family is never perfect, and this one for sure isn't. I was so excited building this for them though, and given an opportunity to clutter it up the way I like lol! Thanks for this challenge, back to basics was really cool to do. I did miss a lot of my usual furniture, but I guess that's the point of the challenge! I ended up really loving it, and will be moving one of my families into it in the future. Please tell me what you think!

ENTRY DETAILS: This is a small but well-furnished house designed to be the home of a family of 4, including a teenager and a toddler. Main room is downstairs and has its own bathroom and a walk-in closet. Upstairs is the teenager room with decoration that matches his likes (and age) and a desk so he can do his homework. Toddler room was designed in a dinosaur theme. The house also features a study uptaris. Kitchen, dining room and living room on the first floor. Bbq area in the front of the house to take advantage of the shade provided by the tree. Gardening area on the other side so mom can grow a couple of fresh veggies. A very basic home to fullfill basic needs.

ENTRY DETAILS: William Harper was so focused on his career that he had little time for dating and socializing. In fact he had begun to accept that his family's tradition of entertaining would end with him when he met fellow musician Keanu. It was not love at first sight, but the two became fast friends and worked together to create and perform songs, eventually realizing they had feelings for each other. Once they agreed that marriage was the right thing for them, the couple soon decided children were the logical next step and hired a surrogate. Their daughter Leilani was born first to William, and inherited her fathers' love of music, though her interested is more toward singing than playing instruments. Some years later, they tried again for a child, wanting to give Leilani a sibling. Young Robbie also loves music and is quite a mimic, with a flair for comedy.

ENTRY DETAILS: This is my official entry; I named my lot 313 Flamengo Way and moved a family into it... the family i built for this challenge but not to enter into the Sim competition tho... they seem to love the home i built for them... I am slowly learning everything here... especially the values and taking proper photos without grid lines... but it is still a fun and interesting challenges. I don't really know what to say this time around because *phew!! I've been working hard trying to build this the right way... hopefully I did well... otherwise... I love learning and I love these challenges because I have learned so much and... still learning too. PS.. the original entry I had previously deleted because it really needed work.

ENTRY DETAILS: Well, the house was built with an established family in mind, and I hope you see a little of their personality and story within the walls. A family is never perfect, and this one for sure isn't. I was so excited building this for them though, and given an opportunity to clutter it up the way I like lol! Thanks for this challenge, back to basics was really cool to do. I did miss a lot of my usual furniture, but I guess that's the point of the challenge! I ended up really loving it, and will be moving one of my families into it in the future. Please tell me what you think!

ENTRY DETAILS: This is a small but well-furnished house designed to be the home of a family of 4, including a teenager and a toddler. Main room is downstairs and has its own bathroom and a walk-in closet. Upstairs is the teenager room with decoration that matches his likes (and age) and a desk so he can do his homework. Toddler room was designed in a dinosaur theme. The house also features a study uptaris. Kitchen, dining room and living room on the first floor. Bbq area in the front of the house to take advantage of the shade provided by the tree. Gardening area on the other side so mom can grow a couple of fresh veggies. A very basic home to fullfill basic needs.

ENTRY DETAILS: William Harper was so focused on his career that he had little time for dating and socializing. In fact he had begun to accept that his family's tradition of entertaining would end with him when he met fellow musician Keanu. It was not love at first sight, but the two became fast friends and worked together to create and perform songs, eventually realizing they had feelings for each other. Once they agreed that marriage was the right thing for them, the couple soon decided children were the logical next step and hired a surrogate. Their daughter Leilani was born first to William, and inherited her fathers' love of music, though her interested is more toward singing than playing instruments. Some years later, they tried again for a child, wanting to give Leilani a sibling. Young Robbie also loves music and is quite a mimic, with a flair for comedy.
