You look out the studio window and sigh. It’s been cloudy for five days straight now. Even the rich mug of hot chocolate that Karl made for you isn’t helping to lift your spirits. Speaking of Karl, he pokes his head into your office and says brightly, “Your next clients are here!”
In walks Hannah and Reginald Gray. As you shake hands and exchange pleasantries about the dull weather, you notice the Jamaican lilt in Reginald’s voice. Hannah, with her gorgeous long auburn hair, is a little harder to place. Germany? Denmark? They are both dressed all in black like the most sophisticated urban dwellers, yet their high spirits light up the room. You know from a brief background check that Reginald is the creative genius behind CouchPotato.com, an online food delivery service that is sweeping the country, and Hannah is the chief food critic for the San Myshuno Examiner.
“We are so happy to finally meet you!” Hannah exclaims. “Doug Curtis told us about you and we knew you would be perfect for our project!”
“I should hire Doug for my PR!” you laugh. “Now, how may I help you?”
Reginald takes over. “We love San Myshuno, but we’re looking to relocate to Newcrest. We’re kind of tired of apartment living, you see.”
“Okay. So what did you have in mind?”
Reginald and Hannah look at each other like guilty children and then break out laughing. Hannah continues, “We’d like a two-bedroom, two bathroom house—not very big. We don’t want a huge lot to take care of. But… here’s the kicker… We’d like everything to be in black and white and shades of gray.”
“Everything?” you say, surprised.
“Well, we’re okay with green plants,” Reginald answers, “but we prefer white flowers.” Hannah nods in agreement. They both look at you as if they expect you to throw them out the door!
“That shouldn’t be a problem,” you say with a big smile. You continue to discuss lot availability, budget and other requirements, and as the couple leaves, your mind is already bright with ideas and possibilities.
The Brief

Architecture/Interior style: the Grays have always tended toward modern, but are willing to accept any sophisticated interior style—as long as everything is in black and white and shades of gray! Green plants and white flowers are okay, and that goes for the landscaping, too: only green plants, white flowers, and outdoor building materials in black, white and shades of gray.
BUDGET: The Grays are very wealthy and have said, “The sky’s the limit!”, but let’s see if we can build them their dream home for §150,000 or less (lot cost + building cost).
SIM CHALLENGE: Create Hannah and Reginald Gray and show them living in their new home (or alternatively, if you don’t do the build challenge, enjoying a night on the town—any town in your game!). Their aspirations and traits are entirely up to you!
ROOM CHALLENGE: Create a fabulous master bedroom, all in black and white and shades of gray! (green plants and white flowers allowed) Budget: §12,000.
Note: It is probably impossible to avoid all colors other than black, white and gray, but the idea is to come as close as possible to that. If you need inspiration, try doing a Google image search on the photography of Ansel Adams!

ENTRY DETAILS: (Be sure to tell us about your entry). Although this is a tiny lot, it will provide a comfortable and quite luxurious living for the Grays. It not only has the 2 bedrooms and bathrooms, a rather big kitchen with dining area, a living room and a study nook, it even has a laundry and a sauna in the basement. The garden itself is quite small and does not require a lot of work.

ENTRY DETAILS: When I saw this challenge was shades of gray where modern meets rich aesthetic, I decided I had to give it a shot! I gave myself the extra challenge of not using CC despite how constraining for Sims 4 the prompt is, and am a little fascinated by the outcome. I only had 3 days to do this, so there's no going back and tweaking and playing. Still, I had fun with this and I hope I did a good job!

ENTRY DETAILS: A stone A-frame house decorated mainly in black and white. It was a challenge for me to keep to sew floors, , especially since I tend to avoid black. I did a second version that moves the office up onto the third floor because I wasn't really happy with the narrow spaces created by having it on the 2nd floor, especially with how open the first floor is. I would appreciate opinions about whether or not the second version is better.

ENTRY DETAILS: Wowie, this one was a challenge. Not so much the color restrictions, but I was going for a certain look for the exterior of the home as well as the overall shape of the home. Once I got it to look the way I wanted it to, the interior was a MAJOR challenge. Since everything was pretty much on diagonals you can image how hard it was to place walls for the interior layout as well as placing items! This really has nothing to do with the imitations or restrictions for this build but, I'm just happy I'm finished with this build LOL!

Curb Appeal! Unique, modern waterfall home. Meticulously decorated in black, white and shades of grey. Main floor has open concept living room and kitchen area. A beautifully decorated guest bedroom, full bath, and home office complete this floor. Upstairs is the master bedroom with gorgeous ensuite featuring a sunken tub. Head out to the private balcony to play chess under the stars or sip some wine near the cozy fire. Head downstairs and out to the backyard retreat. Small pool area and hot tub beckon you to relax. ENTRY DETAILS: I wanted to give the Grays a sophisticated and modernist home. I also love the style of CC creator, Peacemaker_ic. He makes such wonderful stuff and I thought I could decorate a home more to the grays liking with the wonderful thing he has created. I gave them a open kitchen and dining area and also added a small powder room and laundry to the downstairs. Upstairs you can find two full bedrooms and bathrooms. One is more a master bed and bath than the other. They have a small pool outside with a small entertaining area. I tried to keep the landscaping to a minimum so they can easily keep up with it.

ENTRY DETAILS: Well, it's 3 stories, 2 bedrooms, 2.5 bath (one on each floor, .5 on floor 1), and totally in black and white! Okay okay some grey in there, and also green plants xD. I really had fun doing this, and it stretched my creativity to the limit I think.
It was really cool to do a color theme, and I hope we do this again!

This home is modern and relatively snug. The living room and kitchen are combined to create a spacious room from which Hannah and Reginald can look out over their pool and patio. Since the Grays live in a very sunny location, the dining table is placed outside so they can enjoy meals with friends on warm evenings. The pool curves around the living room, giving plenty of space for swimming. The lounge chairs are placed next to the pool so Hannah and Reginald can spend relaxing days chilling with a book by the pool and taking a dip to cool off. On the second floor are the two bedrooms. The first is the guest room, with views out over the neighbourhood. The guest bathroom is small, but has all the essentials to make Hannah and Reginald's visitors feel welcome and comfortable. The master bedroom is more spacious, and includes a sofa for the Grays to relax on in the evenings. It also has a small balcony with a view out over the garden, where there is an easel for them to be creative. Their bathroom is. again, snug, but has a shower, dresser, sink and toilet. The third floor has the office, with a desk area as well as some musical instruments. It opens up onto a rooftop area where the Grays can exercise, practise their logic, or just sit with a book

ENTRY DETAILS: This build is a modern style, 1 floor home. It is clean and not cluttered. The color scheme for this house is mostly gray with blacks and white and a hint of color thrown in. The home is surrounded by a privacy wall which keeps out any nosy neighbors. When you walk into the yard you enter a small patch of land perfect for a pet. There is also a small lounge area next to a spa like pool. When first entering the house you walk into an open concept living/dining/ kitchen space. The living space hosts a modern glass fireplace. The dining area is the perfect size for an intimate dinner party with a few close friends. The kitchen is a chefs dream. There is ample cabinet space as well as a built in pantry near the dining area. It's perfect for someone who loves to cook or perhaps cooks for a living. The first bathroom is off of the kitchen. It has both a stand up shower and tub. As you move towards the back of the house you will find a small home office, a second bathroom with a spa like shower and a spare bedroom perfect for any guest who has had a little too much wine. The master bedroom is spacious and has a lovely view of the pool in the front. Just when you think there is nothing more to see in this house you're surprised. Outside a staircase leads up to a rooftop deck perfect for hosting many parties. There is a cozy sitting area which includes an outside fireplace. A state of the art grilling center can also be found. Last but not least is a sanctuary spot for unwinding with a little yoga. But don't worry you're covered from the suns harsh rays. This home is not the largest home on the market but it has a lot to offer for such a small space.

You look out the studio window and sigh. It’s been cloudy for five days straight now. Even the rich mug of hot chocolate that Karl made for you isn’t helping to lift your spirits. Speaking of Karl, he pokes his head into your office and says brightly, “Your next clients are here!”
In walks Hannah and Reginald Gray. As you shake hands and exchange pleasantries about the dull weather, you notice the Jamaican lilt in Reginald’s voice. Hannah, with her gorgeous long auburn hair, is a little harder to place. Germany? Denmark? They are both dressed all in black like the most sophisticated urban dwellers, yet their high spirits light up the room. You know from a brief background check that Reginald is the creative genius behind CouchPotato.com, an online food delivery service that is sweeping the country, and Hannah is the chief food critic for the San Myshuno Examiner.
“We are so happy to finally meet you!” Hannah exclaims. “Doug Curtis told us about you and we knew you would be perfect for our project!”
“I should hire Doug for my PR!” you laugh. “Now, how may I help you?”
Reginald takes over. “We love San Myshuno, but we’re looking to relocate to Newcrest. We’re kind of tired of apartment living, you see.”
“Okay. So what did you have in mind?”
Reginald and Hannah look at each other like guilty children and then break out laughing. Hannah continues, “We’d like a two-bedroom, two bathroom house—not very big. We don’t want a huge lot to take care of. But… here’s the kicker… We’d like everything to be in black and white and shades of gray.”
“Everything?” you say, surprised.
“Well, we’re okay with green plants,” Reginald answers, “but we prefer white flowers.” Hannah nods in agreement. They both look at you as if they expect you to throw them out the door!
“That shouldn’t be a problem,” you say with a big smile. You continue to discuss lot availability, budget and other requirements, and as the couple leaves, your mind is already bright with ideas and possibilities.

Architecture/Interior style: the Grays have always tended toward modern, but are willing to accept any sophisticated interior style—as long as everything is in black and white and shades of gray! Green plants and white flowers are okay, and that goes for the landscaping, too: only green plants, white flowers, and outdoor building materials in black, white and shades of gray.
BUDGET: The Grays are very wealthy and have said, “The sky’s the limit!”, but let’s see if we can build them their dream home for §150,000 or less (lot cost + building cost).
SIM CHALLENGE: Create Hannah and Reginald Gray and show them living in their new home (or alternatively, if you don’t do the build challenge, enjoying a night on the town—any town in your game!). Their aspirations and traits are entirely up to you!

ENTRY DETAILS: Wowie, this one was a challenge. Not so much the color restrictions, but I was going for a certain look for the exterior of the home as well as the overall shape of the home. Once I got it to look the way I wanted it to, the interior was a MAJOR challenge. Since everything was pretty much on diagonals you can image how hard it was to place walls for the interior layout as well as placing items! This really has nothing to do with the imitations or restrictions for this build but, I'm just happy I'm finished with this build LOL!

He makes such wonderful stuff and I thought I could decorate a home more to the grays liking with the wonderful thing he has created. I gave them a open kitchen and dining area and also added a small powder room and laundry to the downstairs. Upstairs you can find two full bedrooms and bathrooms. One is more a master bed and bath than the other. They have a small pool outside with a small entertaining area. I tried to keep the landscaping to a minimum so they can easily keep up with it.

This home is modern and relatively snug. The living room and kitchen are combined to create a spacious room from which Hannah and Reginald can look out over their pool and patio. Since the Grays live in a very sunny location, the dining table is placed outside so they can enjoy meals with friends on warm evenings. The pool curves around the living room, giving plenty of space for swimming. The lounge chairs are placed next to the pool so Hannah and Reginald can spend relaxing days chilling with a book by the pool and taking a dip to cool off. On the second floor are the two bedrooms. The first is the guest room, with views out over the neighbourhood. The guest bathroom is small, but has all the essentials to make Hannah and Reginald's visitors feel welcome and comfortable. The master bedroom is more spacious, and includes a sofa for the Grays to relax on in the evenings. It also has a small balcony with a view out over the garden, where there is an easel for them to be creative. Their bathroom is. again, snug, but has a shower, dresser, sink and toilet. The third floor has the office, with a desk area as well as some musical instruments. It opens up onto a rooftop area where the Grays can exercise, practise their logic, or just sit with a book

ENTRY DETAILS: This build is a modern style, 1 floor home. It is clean and not cluttered. The color scheme for this house is mostly gray with blacks and white and a hint of color thrown in. The home is surrounded by a privacy wall which keeps out any nosy neighbors. When you walk into the yard you enter a small patch of land perfect for a pet. There is also a small lounge area next to a spa like pool. When first entering the house you walk into an open concept living/dining/ kitchen space. The living space hosts a modern glass fireplace. The dining area is the perfect size for an intimate dinner party with a few close friends. The kitchen is a chefs dream. There is ample cabinet space as well as a built in pantry near the dining area. It's perfect for someone who loves to cook or perhaps cooks for a living. The first bathroom is off of the kitchen. It has both a stand up shower and tub. As you move towards the back of the house you will find a small home office, a second bathroom with a spa like shower and a spare bedroom perfect for any guest who has had a little too much wine. The master bedroom is spacious and has a lovely view of the pool in the front. Just when you think there is nothing more to see in this house you're surprised. Outside a staircase leads up to a rooftop deck perfect for hosting many parties. There is a cozy sitting area which includes an outside fireplace. A state of the art grilling center can also be found. Last but not least is a sanctuary spot for unwinding with a little yoga. But don't worry you're covered from the suns harsh rays. This home is not the largest home on the market but it has a lot to offer for such a small space.
