#BnS98 - The Four Seasons

As you are sitting at your desk reading the "New In Town" flyer, Karl buzzes you on the intercom.
Taking a sip of coffee, you answer it, “Yes, Karl?”
“Um, sorry to bother you, but the mayor is here to see you,” responded Karl. The mayor? What would the mayor be coming to see me for?
“Alright, send him in”, you answer as you straighten the jacket of your suit.
Mayor Sonny Windy walks in with his assistant, Blossom Frost, and they both smile broadly and come over and warmly shake your hand.
“Please sit down,” you start, “May I get you anything?”
“Oh, that won’t be necessary. We won’t take a lot of your time,” answered the mayor.
After everyone sits down again, the mayor’s assistant, Ms. Frost, passes me a flyer. It is the same flyer that I was reading before they entered.
Mayor Windy can barely control his excitement and takes a deep breath before he begins. “Have you seen who is coming to town? We are going to have celebrities living amongst us. Oh yes, it’s a family called The Climates. And they are looking to move here, but they need a house.”
“A house?” you try to interject before the mayor launches on again.
“Oh yes, but not just any house. I mean after all, they are celebrities.”
I must have looked a little lost because I blurt out, “Celebrities? Coming to town? Who are the Climates? Why had I not heard of them before?”
Mayor Windy continues, “Oh yes, they have their own show, called Seasons. It’s all so very exciting. My assistant has drafted up exactly what they are looking for and I know that you are the best person to coordinate such a large and important contract for our town. I mean, can you believe it, the mayors of the other towns are also building the perfect house for the Climates. It’s a town versus town contest by golly.”
The mayor’s assistant, Blossom Frost, hands me a thick folder. I open it slowly and look at the contents.
“You’ll see that there are 4 family members of the Climate family. Each family member likes a different season, so the house should reflect the four seasons. It should have at least 3 bedrooms.,” says Ms. Frost quietly.
“Is that it, just a house reflecting the four seasons...in what way?” You jot down notes on a pad of paper as she speaks.
“Well, Janine, the mother, likes autumn, and for her a wonderful kitchen and dining room decorated in fall colors would make her feel so warm and cozy. Arthur, the father, enjoys spring and gardening. A greenhouse, with a glass roof to let in the rays of sun to shine on his seedlings in his garden planters would light up his day. Their daughter, Summer, a teen, enjoys, what else - summer, so an outdoor patio with bar-b-q and pool will make her extremely happy. And Nicolas, the youngest is a toddler, and he and his mother love to snuggle together before a fire.”
“So, let me get this straight. Each town is having a competition to build a house for The Climates?” you question.
“Yes, that’s right, and the best house is where they will move to. So, you need to make sure that they move to our town,” blurts out Mayor Windy.
“Well, we’ll do our best,” I say.
THE BRIEF
Build on any lot in any town
Design a house for the Climate family reflecting the four seasons, with the following theme features:
At least 3 bedrooms
A kitchen and dining room reflecting the colors of autumn (reds, yellows, oranges) (for Janine - autumn)
A cozy living room with fireplace decorated in winter colors (for Nicolas - winter)
A greenhouse with a glass roof. Inside the greenhouse should be some planters for harvestables. The greenhouse can be separate from the house. (for Arthur - spring)
An outdoor patio with bar-b-q, sitting area, stereo and pool (for Summer - summer)
BUDGET: $200K total budget (includes the lot cost)
Room Challenge: Create a theme family room to reflect one of the four seasons. Budget $20K
Sim Challenge: No Sim challenge this time around!

ENTRY DETAILS: I took inspiration from the blog posts and tried to create what they made me imagine. For autumn colours I used orange and brown very heavily on kitchen, dining are and the foyer that leads to them with some green and yellow tones here and there. I wanted to create an ambiance that invites you to table and makes you want to sit and chat long after food is all eaten. This is an open plan house so the only thing separating kitchen and foyer from the living room is a stone pillar. Behind the pillar we are welcomed by the cool colours of winter; blues whites and some faded purples and pinks to warm up the color scheme. To make the room more homey and less "cold" looking I picked a couch with lots of pillows and a loveseat to match. Final touch to warm up the place was the fireplace. Through the living room we're going our to back porch that has a colorful seat and a hot tub. Backyard is filled with lots of flowers and bushes and has a medium size pool with a jumping platform. There's a kiddie pool for the little toddler, a hand painted colourful picnic table, a little barbecue, an outdoor fireplace for cozy summer all-nighters, some shaded seats, a bar and of course, the indispensable, a poolside stereo. Right next to all these entertainment we see a little cabin with lots of windows and a glass roof. It's easy to figure out this one, it's a greenhouse! It's actually father's safe space in the house. He comes in every so often to wind down working with dirt or just meditate in the calm environment, surrounded by fresh earth and plant smells... Obviously the mother made sure to have a sink installed because who'd want him to touch all the doorknobs with those dirty hands! We're back inside now going upstairs, we're greeted by two arm chairs in front of the bay windows. On our immediate left there's a tiny corridor that leads to the office and in front of us is a hall where all the bedrooms open to... In teenage daughter we find lots of yellows and sky blues and greens to represent summer. It's a very energetic and fun room to be in! And right next to her room we are finding the toddler son's room. This couple knew what they were doing while they picked the calming tones of blue for a toddler room. The room is fairly empty to keep the boy safe but there's one detail we can't miss... An ode to boy's birthday in winter, snowflakes on the wall... Next to the bedroom there's the main family bathroom. fully equipped with a washing machine and a dryer too! Across the hall from the kid's bedrooms there's the master bedroom. The couple apparently wanted a seasonal decor but couldn't decide which theme to go for so they found the middle ground on earthy colours. The father always keeps fresh flowers on his side of the bed to have a spring feel while the mother has dried leaves on hers to remind her of their sweet first date. This room has a little en-suite complete with a toilet, shower and a sink.

ENTRY DETAILS: My house was built with a young, rich, modern family in mind. The Climates are celebrities and as such they have a taste for expensive things. My house for them is a modern, minimalist style as I think many of the rich and famous like to live this way. I built it at the top of the hill in Oasis Springs (similar to California - home of the rich and famous) where they have a view of the entire town below them. Not many people venture up here so it awards them some privacy as does the fence around the entire back yard. They don't want the paparazzi snooping and taking photos of the children.

ENTRY DETAILS: This home is inspired by the Tucker Bayou home plans from Southern Living. The plan includes 3 or 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. This farmhouse styled home features a large wrap around front porch, screened back porch and a breezeway connecting the garage (or in my build the greenhouse). Other outdoor space includes a large patio and pool and a generous backyard. The interior of the home showcases an open plan living room, dining room and kitchen. Additionally the main floor includes a laundry/mudroom, a study and a master suite and adjacent nursery. The upstairs contains two additional bedrooms, a rec room and an open landing media area.

ENTRY DETAILS:
Celebrities hidden in plain sight - that is what I call the house. This modest looking house just blends in in every neighborhood. The midcentury modern style yet is hip and trendy, but fully functional. After all and when they are not filming, they are an ordinary family, right? So I gave them an "ordinary home", but with a lot of luxurious details, e.g. the fenced in backyard gives them a lot of privacy just like the front of the house won't allow many glimpses of family life in the house. But they still are able to reach out to neighbors and make new friends in the wondeful Newcrest community. I think it will help Summer and Nicholas to stay down to earth and having an ordinary childhood.

ENTRY DETAILS: A modern home for The Climates, i tried to make it "celebrity worthy". There is a small greenhouse for Arthur, a winter themed living room with a fireplace for Nicolas. I also made his bedroom winter themed. An autumn kitchen/dining room for Janine and a nice summer patio with bbq, a bar, a pool, hottub and seating area for Summer. I also made Summer's bedroom summer themed with a lot of colors, she also has her own small summer bathroom. Autumn and Spring weren't easy to combine, so i made the parental bedroom somewhat neutral.

ENTRY DETAILS: I wanted the Climates to live in a colorful and inviting home. So I added a lot of color to each room, though Nicholas's rooms are a bit blue since winter is generally blue and white unless you decorate for Christmas. Summer's bedroom is still colorful but I didn't want it overwhelming to sleep in. Janine and Arthur's bedroom has elements for both autumn and spring, plus some plants for Arthur's love of gardening. I love the colors of Autumn so the kitchen and dining room reflect those colors with a lot of orange, red, yellow, and brown. There are 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a laundry room, and an office on the upper floor. The lower floor in addition to the living, dining, and kitchen, also has a half bath. There is ample porch space, both in front and in back. There is an additional side porch that can only be accessed from the front yard. It has a meditation board and a speaker so whoever is meditating can listen to some calming music. The greenhouse can be accessed from the front porch. The back porch/deck has a hot tub in addition to all of Summer's requests, plus some other items for the rest of the family to enjoy. The backyard also provides ample space and activities for everyone to use.
I was pleasantly surprised that I managed to stay below budget as I generally have a hard time sticking to a budget. This is the first build n share that i have managed to finish on time in quite a while so I hope you all like it.

As you are sitting at your desk reading the "New In Town" flyer, Karl buzzes you on the intercom.
Taking a sip of coffee, you answer it, “Yes, Karl?”
“Um, sorry to bother you, but the mayor is here to see you,” responded Karl. The mayor? What would the mayor be coming to see me for?
“Alright, send him in”, you answer as you straighten the jacket of your suit.
Mayor Sonny Windy walks in with his assistant, Blossom Frost, and they both smile broadly and come over and warmly shake your hand.
“Please sit down,” you start, “May I get you anything?”
“Oh, that won’t be necessary. We won’t take a lot of your time,” answered the mayor.
After everyone sits down again, the mayor’s assistant, Ms. Frost, passes me a flyer. It is the same flyer that I was reading before they entered.
Mayor Windy can barely control his excitement and takes a deep breath before he begins. “Have you seen who is coming to town? We are going to have celebrities living amongst us. Oh yes, it’s a family called The Climates. And they are looking to move here, but they need a house.”
“A house?” you try to interject before the mayor launches on again.
“Oh yes, but not just any house. I mean after all, they are celebrities.”
I must have looked a little lost because I blurt out, “Celebrities? Coming to town? Who are the Climates? Why had I not heard of them before?”
Mayor Windy continues, “Oh yes, they have their own show, called Seasons. It’s all so very exciting. My assistant has drafted up exactly what they are looking for and I know that you are the best person to coordinate such a large and important contract for our town. I mean, can you believe it, the mayors of the other towns are also building the perfect house for the Climates. It’s a town versus town contest by golly.”
The mayor’s assistant, Blossom Frost, hands me a thick folder. I open it slowly and look at the contents.
“You’ll see that there are 4 family members of the Climate family. Each family member likes a different season, so the house should reflect the four seasons. It should have at least 3 bedrooms.,” says Ms. Frost quietly.
“Is that it, just a house reflecting the four seasons...in what way?” You jot down notes on a pad of paper as she speaks.
“Well, Janine, the mother, likes autumn, and for her a wonderful kitchen and dining room decorated in fall colors would make her feel so warm and cozy. Arthur, the father, enjoys spring and gardening. A greenhouse, with a glass roof to let in the rays of sun to shine on his seedlings in his garden planters would light up his day. Their daughter, Summer, a teen, enjoys, what else - summer, so an outdoor patio with bar-b-q and pool will make her extremely happy. And Nicolas, the youngest is a toddler, and he and his mother love to snuggle together before a fire.”
“So, let me get this straight. Each town is having a competition to build a house for The Climates?” you question.
“Yes, that’s right, and the best house is where they will move to. So, you need to make sure that they move to our town,” blurts out Mayor Windy.
“Well, we’ll do our best,” I say.

ENTRY DETAILS: I took inspiration from the blog posts and tried to create what they made me imagine. For autumn colours I used orange and brown very heavily on kitchen, dining are and the foyer that leads to them with some green and yellow tones here and there. I wanted to create an ambiance that invites you to table and makes you want to sit and chat long after food is all eaten. This is an open plan house so the only thing separating kitchen and foyer from the living room is a stone pillar. Behind the pillar we are welcomed by the cool colours of winter; blues whites and some faded purples and pinks to warm up the color scheme. To make the room more homey and less "cold" looking I picked a couch with lots of pillows and a loveseat to match. Final touch to warm up the place was the fireplace. Through the living room we're going our to back porch that has a colorful seat and a hot tub. Backyard is filled with lots of flowers and bushes and has a medium size pool with a jumping platform. There's a kiddie pool for the little toddler, a hand painted colourful picnic table, a little barbecue, an outdoor fireplace for cozy summer all-nighters, some shaded seats, a bar and of course, the indispensable, a poolside stereo. Right next to all these entertainment we see a little cabin with lots of windows and a glass roof. It's easy to figure out this one, it's a greenhouse! It's actually father's safe space in the house. He comes in every so often to wind down working with dirt or just meditate in the calm environment, surrounded by fresh earth and plant smells... Obviously the mother made sure to have a sink installed because who'd want him to touch all the doorknobs with those dirty hands! We're back inside now going upstairs, we're greeted by two arm chairs in front of the bay windows. On our immediate left there's a tiny corridor that leads to the office and in front of us is a hall where all the bedrooms open to... In teenage daughter we find lots of yellows and sky blues and greens to represent summer. It's a very energetic and fun room to be in! And right next to her room we are finding the toddler son's room. This couple knew what they were doing while they picked the calming tones of blue for a toddler room. The room is fairly empty to keep the boy safe but there's one detail we can't miss... An ode to boy's birthday in winter, snowflakes on the wall... Next to the bedroom there's the main family bathroom. fully equipped with a washing machine and a dryer too! Across the hall from the kid's bedrooms there's the master bedroom. The couple apparently wanted a seasonal decor but couldn't decide which theme to go for so they found the middle ground on earthy colours. The father always keeps fresh flowers on his side of the bed to have a spring feel while the mother has dried leaves on hers to remind her of their sweet first date. This room has a little en-suite complete with a toilet, shower and a sink.

ENTRY DETAILS: My house was built with a young, rich, modern family in mind. The Climates are celebrities and as such they have a taste for expensive things. My house for them is a modern, minimalist style as I think many of the rich and famous like to live this way. I built it at the top of the hill in Oasis Springs (similar to California - home of the rich and famous) where they have a view of the entire town below them. Not many people venture up here so it awards them some privacy as does the fence around the entire back yard. They don't want the paparazzi snooping and taking photos of the children.

Celebrities hidden in plain sight - that is what I call the house. This modest looking house just blends in in every neighborhood. The midcentury modern style yet is hip and trendy, but fully functional. After all and when they are not filming, they are an ordinary family, right? So I gave them an "ordinary home", but with a lot of luxurious details, e.g. the fenced in backyard gives them a lot of privacy just like the front of the house won't allow many glimpses of family life in the house. But they still are able to reach out to neighbors and make new friends in the wondeful Newcrest community. I think it will help Summer and Nicholas to stay down to earth and having an ordinary childhood.

ENTRY DETAILS: I wanted the Climates to live in a colorful and inviting home. So I added a lot of color to each room, though Nicholas's rooms are a bit blue since winter is generally blue and white unless you decorate for Christmas. Summer's bedroom is still colorful but I didn't want it overwhelming to sleep in. Janine and Arthur's bedroom has elements for both autumn and spring, plus some plants for Arthur's love of gardening. I love the colors of Autumn so the kitchen and dining room reflect those colors with a lot of orange, red, yellow, and brown. There are 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a laundry room, and an office on the upper floor. The lower floor in addition to the living, dining, and kitchen, also has a half bath. There is ample porch space, both in front and in back. There is an additional side porch that can only be accessed from the front yard. It has a meditation board and a speaker so whoever is meditating can listen to some calming music. The greenhouse can be accessed from the front porch. The back porch/deck has a hot tub in addition to all of Summer's requests, plus some other items for the rest of the family to enjoy. The backyard also provides ample space and activities for everyone to use.
I was pleasantly surprised that I managed to stay below budget as I generally have a hard time sticking to a budget. This is the first build n share that i have managed to finish on time in quite a while so I hope you all like it.
