#BnS114 - The Tables Have TurnedThe deadline for this challenge is 13th March 2019You sit back at your desk and smile. The last project took a lot out of you, but you are so happy you could help. You think back on many of your clients and how pleased they were with your work. But really, you could use a bit of a break, you think.
Karl comes in and hands you a stack of mail. You motion for her to sit as you flip through it, mainly bills and junk.
“So, who’s next?” you ask.
“Actually- ah, nobody.”
“Really?”
“Really,” he says. “I guess it’s just a quiet month. We have some interest for a few months from now, but I think your schedule is free.”
You ponder this for a minute, then say, “In that case, Karl, we have a client!”
“Oh?” He perks up, as curious about why he doesn’t know this as he is about who the client is.
“I have been living in the same place, with the same decor for years now! After helping so many others realize their dream houses, I think it’s time I do something about my own!”
“But you love that house!” Karl protests.
You laugh. “Yes I do. I do love that house. But the inside is so dated! The decor, the colors, the style... It may have been me once, but it isn’t me anymore. Karl - I am going to give myself a makeover for a change!”
THE BRIEFThis challenge will be quite different. This month we are asking you to build
your house in the game. No, not your dream house, your actual real house. To the best of your and the game’s ability, we want you to build the house, apartment, or residence you currently live as close as you can.
Then, give your home a makeover! Do not add, remove, or change any exterior walls. This includes adding detached structures - no exterior walls can be added or removed. The exterior structure of the building must stay exactly as it is. You can swap a door for an arch of the same size and vise versa. You can swap windows for the same size windows. Fences and half-walls can be added, changed or removed. No other changes are allowed to the exterior structure of the home.
Beyond that, you are free to change the type and style of floors, walls, any built-ins like cabinets and plumbing, you can repurpose rooms and change the interior layout if you wish.
Take before and after shots to show us how you have reimagined your home! Take enough to really give us a feel for how it is now and how you envision it in the future.
There is no budget for this build! There are too many various homes to try to limit it - this challenge is all about the before and after.
Because of the dual build you will have THREE weeks to work on this challenge.
Sim Challenge:Are YOU due for a personal makeover? Need a new hairstyle? A new fashion sense? Now's your time to make it happen. Show us your current simself and how you'd like to make yourself over.
Room Challenge:Don't have time to do over the whole house? Pick the room or area (like an bedroom/ensuite or open plan kitchen/dining) you'd most like to update and make it happen!
Please use the whole of hashtag #BnS114 when you upload your creations, any build, room or household without this hashtag will not be judged.Entry ListStarting OutN/A

ENTRY DETAILS: Before the reno, this half of a duplex was sorely in need of major TLC! It's traits were Filthy, Creepy Crawlies, and Grody! The yard was a bit of a mess, and there was no curb appeal. The inside had water damage and tile floors that were chipped and cracked. The floor plan was spacious, but it could have been better.
After the reno, the space was put to better use. The mess and stacks of stuff where carefully hidden away in the storage units, and the place is now fresh, clean, and bug free! It has tons of curb appeal!

ENTRY DETAILS: I decided to not change my exterior (besides the backyard) because I wouldn't change anything in real life. My home is sloped. The first floor is street level and there is a shared driveway in the back that is down a hill, therefore the basement actually opens up to the backyard. I was not able to convey that with the tools in the game. Also my home shares a wall with the house next door. I decided to build that other house in my build but did not furnish the other home. It is just there to get the complete look of my house.

ENTY DETAILS: My house was originally built in 1961, but it has been updated a bit. It's already pretty nice, so there weren't too many changes I wanted to make. The current decorating scheme could be described as eclectic, as pieces were bought or replaced as needed without much attempt to make sure it all went together. Also there's not much in the way of landscaping, so I added to that. The basement bar might actually become a reality one day.

ENTRY DETAILS: When living at my Mother-in-Laws home, I always imagined how I would have like to remodel it. I lived in the 'Summer Cabin' side, where a bathroom is jointed to the 'Main Home' for easier access. For the remodel I completely separated the Summer Cabins interior access from the main home, and transformed it into a Year-Round Rental, to generate an additional income for my in-laws. This was a HUGE project for me, but it was very fun, and I enjoyed creating the renovation. Enjoy!

ENTRY DETAILS: This is my dream home I moved into with my hubby and daughter last summer. I haven't finished decorating, but will soon. So in the reno, all I did was a remodel of my master bath (which we will be doing this summer) and I decorated my bedroom, finished up the dining, just placed new furniture in my living room (which WILL happen soon) and redecorated in a whimsical way in my daughter's rooms (yes, rooms...she has two! lol) for when she goes to college and they become MINE! ;-) We actually live on the lake with a fishing dock and boat dock but there's nothing like that in the sims, sadly. So I put in a fishing hole.
CONSTRUCTIVE CRITICISM: Sure...I already know I forgot to put dirt around my front tree. OOPS! Meant to...but I'm too tired to fix it. That was a HARD challenge for me. I'm terrible with roofing, so if you see how I could have done it better or have tips, that's VERY welcome!

ENTRY DETAILS:
This was by far the most difficult build I’ve ever done. The home is built into a downward incline on a deep lot and involves basement walk-outs. Since sim lot edges all must end on level ground, I did my best to create an area that serves the same functionality and the ‘feel’ of the back yard. The home is a duplex with 7 bedrooms, a photo studio (turned to studio/study in reno), woodworking shop/garage (cars in garage in reno), and pet ready. (Note: Irl actually houses up to 10 and currently 2 cats, 3 dogs, 7 cars and 1 truck!)

ENTRY DETAILS: We knew this house needed some work even before we moved in, and we've been making changes little by little as we go along. There's nothing that needs doing, we're comfortable the way it is. But there are a few things that it would be nice to change. Most of it is cosmetic. This challenge was fun to see what it might look like when we're finished! :)

ENTRY DETAILS: I live in an old house which dates back to the early '70s, so the room that I'm currently staying in has had different tenants over the years. The only thing new about my current room is the red paint job, but aside from that, everything's dated, with lots of clutter left behind by family members who have already left. I've done what I could to make it livable, but with my current budget, that's the best I can do. The ensuite next to it is also dated, and the biggest thing I dislike in it is the tiles. This makes it hard to spot any grime and dirt accumulating. Another thing is the plumbing, which hasn't been looked at in decades. The shower is not working, so we bathe there by filling up buckets with water and use a small dipper to pour water over ourselves.
Now for my dream renovation. I wanted to give my room a more masculine feel by adding blue as well as industrial textures like concrete. I also added a white wall for a bit more brightness. The room has thick curtains because I hate sunlight. Sunlight here is scorching hot, so it's best to have some thick curtains. To compensate for that, I added more lights, unlike the previous room that had minimal lighting. The desk area is still a bit cluttered but more organized, and the bed has been changed to a double for more comfort. As for the ensuite, I removed the horrendous tiles and replaced them with white ones so that my bathroom will look clean, and I can easily spot anything that needs cleaning. I prefer baths more than showers, so I got a huge bathtub and removed that old shower area. The old American-style toilet has been replaced with a Japanese one, which is electronic and cleans your bum as well, which means less wiping with toilet paper. There is also space in the bathroom now to add a laundry basket.
