#BnS115 - Man Cave

It’s not that he seems unhappy, exactly, or even displeased with you. He just seems flat. As if there is no excitement or emotion there at all. “I’d like a cave,” Mr. Durtal says.
“Oh, I enjoy doing man caves! So much room for creativity. Sports memorabilia, wet bar, maybe some arcade games?”
But he shakes his head. “No, I mean a cave. Literally, a cave.”
“A cave?”
He nods.
“As in, a hole in a rock?”
He nods again. “A cave. Made habitable, of course. Curtains, table, chairs, bed… all natural materials that, well, look like they’d belong in a cave.”
Well, who are you to judge others’ interests, right? “Well, I admit, this is a first for me.”
“I love the idea of having a real cave,” he says. “Where I can… well, y’know, just be me.”
You think you know what he means and you really do not want that mental image. Though, speaking of image, this is not what you had in mind when Mr. Durtal sat down across from you. He seems so clean-cut, modern clothes, nothing about him screamed ‘caveman’.
“But, with walls, of course, yes?”
“Not necessarily. Look, I admit, I may not know exactly how to go about it, but I want to live in a cave. Like, you know, cavemen did. It’s just something I’ve always wanted to do.”
You fidget with your pencil. “Nothing modern at all?”
“Well… it could use some basic plumbing. A fridge would be nice, too. But make them look as ‘stone-agy’ as you can. Nothing overtly modern; no tv or anything.”
“So leather, furs, wood, definitely stone, and of course, fire,” you say as you start making notes.
“Exactly!” he says.
You put down the pencil and smile. “I think that’s all do-able, Nean.”
He seems surprised to hear it, and it’s sort of a relief to see some spark of emotion on his face at last. “Really?”
“Of course,” you say. “There is a reason people come to me, after all.”
He breaks into a wide grin. “This is amazing! You are the first architect who has accepted my request!”
“Oh? How many have you asked?”
“Twenty-seven,” he says.
“Ah.” Well, that explains his initial mood. “Well, I guess that makes me lucky number twenty-eight!”

The basic needs of your sim must be met - hunger, bladder, hygiene, energy, fun - but you have wide leeway in how to meet them.
All items should be made to blend as much as possible with the theme. Avoid anything too overtly modern.

ENTRY DETAILS: The cave is a bit under ground level. Since is a cave, the idea of having different rooms goes out of the non-existent window… this is a single-space living area. A curtain was placed on the entry. Inside we have a bed, a small table and chair, bathtube and sink, a small fireplace. Outside: camping area with a firepit and grill.

ENTRY DETAILS: Mr. Nean Durtal's was looking to quit his job as a business man, get out of the hustle and bustle of the city, and get back to nature. His new home is nestled inside a cave that has been decorated with all the comforts of home while still maintaining the cave like charm.

ENTRY DETAILS: I build an under ground cave with a partially walled bathroom for some privacy a fridge, sink and counter inside so if the weather outside is bad he can still eat. A reading and pond for activities. A garden, fruit trees so he can grow his own food. I tried to hide the entry BBQ/stove area and bathtub with trees for privacy. I hide the mailbox so Sims wouldn't suspect that someone lives there.

ENTRY DETAILS: It's a small underground cave complete with cave paintings, hot spring and all a Sim needs to stay alive. Close to a private beach where one can fish or sit around a bonfire. (Please note that due to aesthetic choices the internal overhead shot shows little more than the shape of the cave. Unfortunately it can't be helped. I've tried to include enough pictures of the layout so you can get a good idea of how things relate to one another)

ENTRY DETAILS: Mr. Nean should be able to live in this cave almost self sufficient.
The entrance to the cave lies behind a swimable fishpond, a half cave with a hole in the top, to use as space for a fire pit. The stairs lead down into the kitchen area, which the game sees as outdoor space, but it has roofs, so there should no rain or snow get inside. During play testing I added a stove, which could be removed if you like to have a more real stone-age feeling. I used pane-less windows and some arches, which in game act as normal windows and doors.
The living room is connected to a small sunken garden with some planting pots (self made).
There are two fireplaces, one in the bedroom, and another in the living room.
No electrical lights throughout the lot.
For skill building we have a workbench, a guitar (self made), a chess table, an easel, a bookcase, small mirror.
Also outside there is a born fire (fun and dancing skill) and a yoga mat, the fishing pond of course.
The toilet is also self made.
Since we live in modern times even Sims laws call for fire protection, so I added a fire alarm in every room (I placed them over the doors, easy to remove for stone-age experience.)

I decided to go with a more contemporary look- if by contemporary you mean 100 BCE instead of the Neolithic. From the Anasazi people of North America, to the Nabateans of the Arabian peninsula, to even some Medieval Europeans, people have been carving out dwellings in the sides of mountains for a very long time- some even still do it today! This lot is an homage to that long and varied history.

ENTRY DETAILS: When it comes time to change houses, some sims want to take it back to the basics, and some sims want to take it back to the basics. This cave home is the lot for the latter – everything a sim needs to maintain a happy life but nothing in the way of overly-modern accessories. Everything a sim needs to survive and prosper - including food and recreation - can be found without ever leaving home or even putting on pants. Note: As with real caves, dogs might appear randomly to enjoy people who enjoy the cave lifestyle.

ENTRY DETAILS: Durtal's Den, located at the Arid Ridge lot in Oasis Springs.Was the perfect place for Nean's Man Cave..In the middle of a Dessert, This lot was perfect because the area was not to populated and the rock formations were great to hide a " Man cave " ..Blending in with the surroundings- Mr Dural's "Man Cave " is a perfect fit on this lot..Made of rocks, stone and mud, we feel Nean will be very satisfied with his new home...

This cave provides you with all the essentials needed to live a happy and secluded life. A bed to lay your head down after a long day hunting. A semi private bathroom equipped to wash all the stink off. A cozy fire pit to warm yourself on those cold winter nights. Don't forget your own private hot springs that is hidden from the rest of the world. Live out your life in perfect seclusion. However if you're able to find someone who loves the caveman lifestlye there's enough room for two!

ENTRY DETAILS: Nean Durtal had always known he wanted to live in a cave. But he was also practical - from the beginning he was willing to concede to basic plumbing and a refrigerator in his dream cave. As work progressed, however, he decided there were a few other things he better have. The fire pit he wanted in the cave, he decided to move outside for safety sake. A wood stove would be a good idea. And windows in the front, both to let some light in, and to let smoke out from the wood stove and all the candles. And to help even more, he wanted a vent hood over the stove. And finally, for safety sake, he ordered a smoke alarm and a fire extinguisher. Other than that, he would be roughing it!! And, to his great delight, the lot he chose had a pond that made a great fishing hole, as well as a swimming hole (play tested). And there was plenty of room for gardening.

ENTRY DETAILS: Because I took inspiration from Petra, I decided to try and make Nean look like he could be from there. I definitely tried to make him look like someone you'd never suspect would live in a cave. He's a modern man who made his money in a business empire, while daydreaming about the days of ancient empires.
He wants to be the Leader of the Pack, because what's a king without an entourage?

ENTRY DETAILS: When the grind of modern life starts to take its toll, some sims might feel like they’d be better off in the Stone Age – and other sims make it happen. Nean took his dream to live in a cave as a Stone Age man seriously and set out to obtain his ideal abode. Once there, he found himself overjoyed with the simple life of simply living.

ENTRY DETAILS: Meet Nean Durtal. His biggest dream in life is to live the life of a caveman - in a cave, of course! He's a loner, which will be nice when he's living in that cave. He loves nature - he's an angling ace and a collector. He loves the outdoors. And he's a bit erratic - loves talking to himself and can show unpredictable emotions.

It’s not that he seems unhappy, exactly, or even displeased with you. He just seems flat. As if there is no excitement or emotion there at all. “I’d like a cave,” Mr. Durtal says.
“Oh, I enjoy doing man caves! So much room for creativity. Sports memorabilia, wet bar, maybe some arcade games?”
But he shakes his head. “No, I mean a cave. Literally, a cave.”
“A cave?”
He nods.
“As in, a hole in a rock?”
He nods again. “A cave. Made habitable, of course. Curtains, table, chairs, bed… all natural materials that, well, look like they’d belong in a cave.”
Well, who are you to judge others’ interests, right? “Well, I admit, this is a first for me.”
“I love the idea of having a real cave,” he says. “Where I can… well, y’know, just be me.”
You think you know what he means and you really do not want that mental image. Though, speaking of image, this is not what you had in mind when Mr. Durtal sat down across from you. He seems so clean-cut, modern clothes, nothing about him screamed ‘caveman’.
“But, with walls, of course, yes?”
“Not necessarily. Look, I admit, I may not know exactly how to go about it, but I want to live in a cave. Like, you know, cavemen did. It’s just something I’ve always wanted to do.”
You fidget with your pencil. “Nothing modern at all?”
“Well… it could use some basic plumbing. A fridge would be nice, too. But make them look as ‘stone-agy’ as you can. Nothing overtly modern; no tv or anything.”
“So leather, furs, wood, definitely stone, and of course, fire,” you say as you start making notes.
“Exactly!” he says.
You put down the pencil and smile. “I think that’s all do-able, Nean.”
He seems surprised to hear it, and it’s sort of a relief to see some spark of emotion on his face at last. “Really?”
“Of course,” you say. “There is a reason people come to me, after all.”
He breaks into a wide grin. “This is amazing! You are the first architect who has accepted my request!”
“Oh? How many have you asked?”
“Twenty-seven,” he says.
“Ah.” Well, that explains his initial mood. “Well, I guess that makes me lucky number twenty-eight!”

ENTRY DETAILS: The cave is a bit under ground level. Since is a cave, the idea of having different rooms goes out of the non-existent window… this is a single-space living area. A curtain was placed on the entry. Inside we have a bed, a small table and chair, bathtube and sink, a small fireplace. Outside: camping area with a firepit and grill.

ENTRY DETAILS: I build an under ground cave with a partially walled bathroom for some privacy a fridge, sink and counter inside so if the weather outside is bad he can still eat. A reading and pond for activities. A garden, fruit trees so he can grow his own food. I tried to hide the entry BBQ/stove area and bathtub with trees for privacy. I hide the mailbox so Sims wouldn't suspect that someone lives there.

ENTRY DETAILS: It's a small underground cave complete with cave paintings, hot spring and all a Sim needs to stay alive. Close to a private beach where one can fish or sit around a bonfire. (Please note that due to aesthetic choices the internal overhead shot shows little more than the shape of the cave. Unfortunately it can't be helped. I've tried to include enough pictures of the layout so you can get a good idea of how things relate to one another)

ENTRY DETAILS: Mr. Nean should be able to live in this cave almost self sufficient.
The entrance to the cave lies behind a swimable fishpond, a half cave with a hole in the top, to use as space for a fire pit. The stairs lead down into the kitchen area, which the game sees as outdoor space, but it has roofs, so there should no rain or snow get inside. During play testing I added a stove, which could be removed if you like to have a more real stone-age feeling. I used pane-less windows and some arches, which in game act as normal windows and doors.
The living room is connected to a small sunken garden with some planting pots (self made).
There are two fireplaces, one in the bedroom, and another in the living room.
No electrical lights throughout the lot.
For skill building we have a workbench, a guitar (self made), a chess table, an easel, a bookcase, small mirror.
Also outside there is a born fire (fun and dancing skill) and a yoga mat, the fishing pond of course.
The toilet is also self made.
Since we live in modern times even Sims laws call for fire protection, so I added a fire alarm in every room (I placed them over the doors, easy to remove for stone-age experience.)

I decided to go with a more contemporary look- if by contemporary you mean 100 BCE instead of the Neolithic. From the Anasazi people of North America, to the Nabateans of the Arabian peninsula, to even some Medieval Europeans, people have been carving out dwellings in the sides of mountains for a very long time- some even still do it today! This lot is an homage to that long and varied history.

ENTRY DETAILS: When it comes time to change houses, some sims want to take it back to the basics, and some sims want to take it back to the basics. This cave home is the lot for the latter – everything a sim needs to maintain a happy life but nothing in the way of overly-modern accessories. Everything a sim needs to survive and prosper - including food and recreation - can be found without ever leaving home or even putting on pants. Note: As with real caves, dogs might appear randomly to enjoy people who enjoy the cave lifestyle.

ENTRY DETAILS: Durtal's Den, located at the Arid Ridge lot in Oasis Springs.Was the perfect place for Nean's Man Cave..In the middle of a Dessert, This lot was perfect because the area was not to populated and the rock formations were great to hide a " Man cave " ..Blending in with the surroundings- Mr Dural's "Man Cave " is a perfect fit on this lot..Made of rocks, stone and mud, we feel Nean will be very satisfied with his new home...

ENTRY DETAILS: Nean Durtal had always known he wanted to live in a cave. But he was also practical - from the beginning he was willing to concede to basic plumbing and a refrigerator in his dream cave. As work progressed, however, he decided there were a few other things he better have. The fire pit he wanted in the cave, he decided to move outside for safety sake. A wood stove would be a good idea. And windows in the front, both to let some light in, and to let smoke out from the wood stove and all the candles. And to help even more, he wanted a vent hood over the stove. And finally, for safety sake, he ordered a smoke alarm and a fire extinguisher. Other than that, he would be roughing it!! And, to his great delight, the lot he chose had a pond that made a great fishing hole, as well as a swimming hole (play tested). And there was plenty of room for gardening.

ENTRY DETAILS: Because I took inspiration from Petra, I decided to try and make Nean look like he could be from there. I definitely tried to make him look like someone you'd never suspect would live in a cave. He's a modern man who made his money in a business empire, while daydreaming about the days of ancient empires.
He wants to be the Leader of the Pack, because what's a king without an entourage?
