#BnS130 - Whimsyville Residential
The deadline for this challenge is 13th November 2019
It's time to add even more whimsy to our Sims 4 neighborhoods! What is whimsy, you might ask? Merriam-Webster dictionary defines whimsy as a playful or amusing quality, a sense of humor or playfulness. Your builds should have charm and a humorous quality to them. The ways to accomplish this are infinite - use your imagination and have fun!
This round, we'll be creating residential lots and sim families. The goal is to have a residential home and potential family for every lot in the main Sims 4 neighborhoods (Willow Creek, Oasis Springs, Windenburg, Newcrest, and (possibly) Brindelton Bay). When claiming your lot, please state whether you will be creating a family for the lot or not. To help keep us organized, please submit lots and sims/households in the same post for this challenge.

This one is built for a multi-generational family. The matriarch is a diva-tasctic grandma. Her adult son, who lost his wife a few years ago is subdued. His daughter and her adopted sister are growing from childhood to their teen years. Finally, a toddler son is a little confused by everything. Come and enjoy a groovy episode with outrageous conflict but always ending in hugs by the end of the story.

ENTRY DETAILS: Coop 'N Run: What I was looking to do was to create a home for the family of Chicken Little. (They will be uploaded as 'The Clucks' ) I created the 'Coop', which is Barn Styled, closed, personal dwelling area, of the Bedrooms, Baths and upstairs, the Theater. The rest of the home, with all of the glass, is the 'Run', containing communal areas, such as the Entertaining/Sitting Room, Kitchen, Dining and the Gym, Game Room and Den below, creating a Coop and Run. Hence the name.
There is a front patio for entertaining or lounging, as well, with a Grill and plenty of seating, and along the side of the home, more seating with a fire pit.
The home takes up the entire parcel, so there isn't any real landscaping to be done, and even if there was, they're chickens, and they have scratched it all up by now anyway.

ENTRY DETAILS: I wanted to keep the floral connotations of "Rindle Rose" so I knew going in that I wanted a huge conservatory, and lots of soft pastels. I kinda got the base layout mostly done, and started thinking that a) there was just a little bit more space I could squeeze out of my shell and b) one little old lady wasn't really a 'family' as such. Thus, the teenaged relative come to visit on an "indefinite basis" as in so many novels I read growing up. Her room is a bit pokey because it used to be a sewing room, or a teeny guest bed, or something.
I'm not 100% sure I nailed the whimsy, but I tried to catch that sense of charm and freedom you associate with certain types of old women - that idealised grandmother type who keeps certain things old fashioned because she's just grown to like them that way, but will also sneak into the annual flower show and steal cuttings off all the hydrangeas because it's absolutely shameful what the garden centre charges for something that should be growing free.
Hoping I nailed that at least.

ENTRY DETAILS: I designed and built these three Craftsman type Homes, for The Three Little Pigs. One home is built of Straw, one of Sticks and one of Bricks. Other than the buiulding materials and colors used, the build is the same for each, with the lower lvel containing a 1 Car Garage, Laundry and Guest Bed and Bath. The upper lvel contains the Living Quarters, Kitchen, Meal Seating area and Master Suite.
There is a rear Patio with a grilling area, as well as a front balcony with seating on each home.

ENTRY DETAILS: When his wife told him she'd dreamed of living in the treetops since she was a little girl, John asked her to sketch up a design for how her dream home would look. She scribbled out some sketches- lovingly depicting the arch of the windows, the lattices of the windowpanes, a turret on the roof. John then put his wood-working skills to work and turned his wife's dreams into a reality. The result was a whimsical treehouse, nestled in the forest, perched high in a gnarled oak, overlooking a vast expanse of ocean. With its mismatched w
indows, pretty flowerbeds, and mid-nowhere location, this became the perfect little home in which to live out their very own happily-ever-after.

ENTRY DETAILS:
The build was inspired by a piece of work from Italian illustrator and architect Fredrico Babina's ARCHITALE series, “a tribute to the fairytale universe where the architectures are reinvented to accommodate the protagonists of the story.” See this link for more info. I did try to do a similar modern version but it was soundly dismissed by Assistant Designer (and she was right, my modern building skills are dire :D). So we've done a whimsical twist on a traditional tale....
After Snow White got married & moved out and their story got made into a blockbuster movie, the seven dwarves gave up mining and decided they needed a bit of distance from one another.....but not too much! So they relocated their old house upwards and each of them built a tiny home around it. Now they can have their own space but still be close to their brothers

ENTRY DETAILS: Some early founding member of the Von-Windenburg family apparently took the phrase "a man's home is his castle" a little too literally. The residence is literally a castle from the outside, though it lacks an actual portcullis and has no moat. The inside is modern and updated, featuring plenty of art and old family heirlooms along with the shiny and new. Each bedroom is decorated according to the owner's tastes.

Buck Cluck is the father of the Family and an Athelete. He is Family Oriented, Good Natured and very active.
Plucky Cluck, the mother is very into her family and hopes for a successful lineage. She is always cheerful, a neat freak and a vegetarian.
Chicken-Little Cluck, is the son of Buck and Plucky. He is quite the social butterfly, yet a tad gloomy and always thinks the sky is falling.
Henny-Penny Cluck is the daughter of Buck and Plucky and Chicken-Little's sister. (even though classically, in literature, they are the same person...or....chicken, rather) She a Whiz Kid and always cheerful.

Astelia never planned on children, and she certainly never planned to take on indefinite guardianship of her teenage niece under less than ideal circumstances! Astelia swears she's too old to change her ways, and Raia thinks her elderly aunt is out-of-date and out-of-touch. With luck they'll make the best of things, and without it their family circumstances may go from bad, to worse!
Astelia is an elder with the Freelance Botanist aspiration. Her traits are Cheerful, Loner, and Foodie.
Raia is a teenager with the Best Selling Author aspiration. Her traits are Gloomy and Art Lover.
Harold is a mixed breed ginger cat in a purple dragon costume. His traits are Fuzzy, Friendly, and Lazy.

ENTRY DETAILS: The Three Little Pigs
As are their homes, The Three Little Pigs are very different, from each other. I took liberty with the story, in it's original form (outside of the names, as they were blocked by the filter)
Brownie Pig is a lazy slob. His Aspiration is Chief of Mischief with Traits being Childish, Lazy and Slob. He lives in the house built of straw, being the path of least resistence for building, for the least weight and fastest and easiest to build.
Pinky Pig (origionally plum) is neat, but he is a very materialistic and greedy pig. For his Aspiration, I chose Rennaisance Sim, because he also wants to, or at least thinks, he knows everything. His Traits are Glutton (or Covet), Materialistic and Jealous (of things that others have). Being a middling sort of pig, he built his house of sticks.
Blocky Pig (origionally plum) seems to be the smartest (despite what Pinky thinks) and the most stable of the Three Pigs. His Aspiration is Friend of the World, because being neither lazy or slovenly, nor jealous and Covetous, he keeps himself and his home neat and gosh darn it, people like him. (see what I did there?) His TRaits are Cheerful, Outgoing and Neat.

ENTRY DETAILS: Their story began with once upon a time, when John and Ophelia fell in love at first sight. It continued with 'K-I-S-S-I-N-G in a tree,' after Ophelia used her artististic skills to design a whimsical treehouse that John brought to life with his woodworking skills. Soon, their story will have a new development... Rock-a-bye baby in the treetops.

ENTRY DETAILS: I've only ever done one sim entry and that was because I'd taken a load of photos for my Benedict Museum build, so this is well out of my comfort zone and probably shows! I'd have liked to have taken more 'action' shots but I'm out of time; I have managed to get one of every dwarf in his own cottage but in retrospect I should have made them sooner and then used them when I did my play testing......always learning haha.

ENTRY DETAILS: Friedrich Von-Windenburg is the family's patriarch and a widower, though being a romantic, he still has an active social life now that he is done grieving. He's also a snob and likes to look good except when he's relaxing at home with his family, then his clothes tend toward casual comfort. He still has some old-fashioned views about what's fashionable, and interestingly enough prefers the color green to red.
Heinrich looks quite a bit like his father and likes to be in charge, which probably serves him well in his business career. He and his wife Adalheid are still verty much in love and he loves spending time with his children when he can, though his father belives that's the nanny's job. He doesn't understand how his heir, Richard, could have turned out to be lazy and irresponsible.
Adalheid wasn't born into money, but she enjoys all the benefits it provides - namely the ability to throw lavish parties on a whim and donate to all her favoirte charities. She likes to wear nice clothes and enjoys an excuse to dress up.
Richard is going through a bit of a goth phase, preferring to wear mostly black. He loves nothing more than to spend the day listening to or playing music, preferrably somethinng of his own creation.
Sara is, as her name implies, a little princess, a girly girl who loves pink and would rather draw or tell stories about her dolls than play sports or roll around int he dirt. This doesn't mean she's queamish though, she can't afford to be with an older brother who loves to tease her.
Stefan is the spoiled baby of the family who is always into everything in his quest to learn all he can about the world around him. His favorite toys are dinosaurs and trains. He deosn't really have a preference in clothes yet, happily wearing whatever cute outfit his parents choose for him.

ENTRY DETAILS: I built a new tree house for Peter Pan and the lost boys of Neverland. You can find it by the Second star to the right and straight on 'til morning. It comes complete with Captain Hook's flying ship. This tree house It has many different huts, all at different levels, and with many pathways attached to each. The perfect tree house for a good game of tag! There are so many things to discover, and many ways to get there around this tree house. There is even a possibility that the waters are mermaid infested. The perfect home for someone who never wants to grow up!
This build challenged me with all the different levels, connecting the stairs, making the roofs work, not having branches in random places, and making sure it was all usable... but it was soo much fun to build!!

ENTRY DETAILS: My idea was based on an actual house I found called Luna Parc in New Jersey. It was built by an artist and to me, was the perfect example of whimsy in a build. I tried to keep the look and feel of the house as close to the original as possible within the restrictions of Sims 4 building and gameplay. It's time to add even more whimsy to our Sims 4 neighborhoods! What is whimsy, you might ask? Merriam-Webster dictionary defines whimsy as a playful or amusing quality, a sense of humor or playfulness. Your builds should have charm and a humorous quality to them. The ways to accomplish this are infinite - use your imagination and have fun!
This round, we'll be creating residential lots and sim families. The goal is to have a residential home and potential family for every lot in the main Sims 4 neighborhoods (Willow Creek, Oasis Springs, Windenburg, Newcrest, and (possibly) Brindelton Bay). When claiming your lot, please state whether you will be creating a family for the lot or not. To help keep us organized, please submit lots and sims/households in the same post for this challenge.

This one is built for a multi-generational family. The matriarch is a diva-tasctic grandma. Her adult son, who lost his wife a few years ago is subdued. His daughter and her adopted sister are growing from childhood to their teen years. Finally, a toddler son is a little confused by everything. Come and enjoy a groovy episode with outrageous conflict but always ending in hugs by the end of the story.

ENTRY DETAILS: Coop 'N Run: What I was looking to do was to create a home for the family of Chicken Little. (They will be uploaded as 'The Clucks' ) I created the 'Coop', which is Barn Styled, closed, personal dwelling area, of the Bedrooms, Baths and upstairs, the Theater. The rest of the home, with all of the glass, is the 'Run', containing communal areas, such as the Entertaining/Sitting Room, Kitchen, Dining and the Gym, Game Room and Den below, creating a Coop and Run. Hence the name.
There is a front patio for entertaining or lounging, as well, with a Grill and plenty of seating, and along the side of the home, more seating with a fire pit.
The home takes up the entire parcel, so there isn't any real landscaping to be done, and even if there was, they're chickens, and they have scratched it all up by now anyway.

ENTRY DETAILS: I wanted to keep the floral connotations of "Rindle Rose" so I knew going in that I wanted a huge conservatory, and lots of soft pastels. I kinda got the base layout mostly done, and started thinking that a) there was just a little bit more space I could squeeze out of my shell and b) one little old lady wasn't really a 'family' as such. Thus, the teenaged relative come to visit on an "indefinite basis" as in so many novels I read growing up. Her room is a bit pokey because it used to be a sewing room, or a teeny guest bed, or something.
I'm not 100% sure I nailed the whimsy, but I tried to catch that sense of charm and freedom you associate with certain types of old women - that idealised grandmother type who keeps certain things old fashioned because she's just grown to like them that way, but will also sneak into the annual flower show and steal cuttings off all the hydrangeas because it's absolutely shameful what the garden centre charges for something that should be growing free.
Hoping I nailed that at least.

ENTRY DETAILS: I designed and built these three Craftsman type Homes, for The Three Little Pigs. One home is built of Straw, one of Sticks and one of Bricks. Other than the buiulding materials and colors used, the build is the same for each, with the lower lvel containing a 1 Car Garage, Laundry and Guest Bed and Bath. The upper lvel contains the Living Quarters, Kitchen, Meal Seating area and Master Suite.
There is a rear Patio with a grilling area, as well as a front balcony with seating on each home.

ENTRY DETAILS: When his wife told him she'd dreamed of living in the treetops since she was a little girl, John asked her to sketch up a design for how her dream home would look. She scribbled out some sketches- lovingly depicting the arch of the windows, the lattices of the windowpanes, a turret on the roof. John then put his wood-working skills to work and turned his wife's dreams into a reality. The result was a whimsical treehouse, nestled in the forest, perched high in a gnarled oak, overlooking a vast expanse of ocean. With its mismatched w
indows, pretty flowerbeds, and mid-nowhere location, this became the perfect little home in which to live out their very own happily-ever-after.

The build was inspired by a piece of work from Italian illustrator and architect Fredrico Babina's ARCHITALE series, “a tribute to the fairytale universe where the architectures are reinvented to accommodate the protagonists of the story.” See this link for more info. I did try to do a similar modern version but it was soundly dismissed by Assistant Designer (and she was right, my modern building skills are dire :D). So we've done a whimsical twist on a traditional tale....
After Snow White got married & moved out and their story got made into a blockbuster movie, the seven dwarves gave up mining and decided they needed a bit of distance from one another.....but not too much! So they relocated their old house upwards and each of them built a tiny home around it. Now they can have their own space but still be close to their brothers

ENTRY DETAILS: Some early founding member of the Von-Windenburg family apparently took the phrase "a man's home is his castle" a little too literally. The residence is literally a castle from the outside, though it lacks an actual portcullis and has no moat. The inside is modern and updated, featuring plenty of art and old family heirlooms along with the shiny and new. Each bedroom is decorated according to the owner's tastes.

Buck Cluck is the father of the Family and an Athelete. He is Family Oriented, Good Natured and very active.
Plucky Cluck, the mother is very into her family and hopes for a successful lineage. She is always cheerful, a neat freak and a vegetarian.
Chicken-Little Cluck, is the son of Buck and Plucky. He is quite the social butterfly, yet a tad gloomy and always thinks the sky is falling.
Henny-Penny Cluck is the daughter of Buck and Plucky and Chicken-Little's sister. (even though classically, in literature, they are the same person...or....chicken, rather) She a Whiz Kid and always cheerful.

Astelia swears she's too old to change her ways, and Raia thinks her elderly aunt is out-of-date and out-of-touch. With luck they'll make the best of things, and without it their family circumstances may go from bad, to worse!

ENTRY DETAILS: The Three Little Pigs
As are their homes, The Three Little Pigs are very different, from each other. I took liberty with the story, in it's original form (outside of the names, as they were blocked by the filter)
Brownie Pig is a lazy slob. His Aspiration is Chief of Mischief with Traits being Childish, Lazy and Slob. He lives in the house built of straw, being the path of least resistence for building, for the least weight and fastest and easiest to build.
Pinky Pig (origionally plum) is neat, but he is a very materialistic and greedy pig. For his Aspiration, I chose Rennaisance Sim, because he also wants to, or at least thinks, he knows everything. His Traits are Glutton (or Covet), Materialistic and Jealous (of things that others have). Being a middling sort of pig, he built his house of sticks.
Blocky Pig (origionally plum) seems to be the smartest (despite what Pinky thinks) and the most stable of the Three Pigs. His Aspiration is Friend of the World, because being neither lazy or slovenly, nor jealous and Covetous, he keeps himself and his home neat and gosh darn it, people like him. (see what I did there?) His TRaits are Cheerful, Outgoing and Neat.

ENTRY DETAILS: Their story began with once upon a time, when John and Ophelia fell in love at first sight. It continued with 'K-I-S-S-I-N-G in a tree,' after Ophelia used her artististic skills to design a whimsical treehouse that John brought to life with his woodworking skills. ENTRY DETAILS: I've only ever done one sim entry and that was because I'd taken a load of photos for my Benedict Museum build, so this is well out of my comfort zone and probably shows! ENTRY DETAILS: Friedrich Von-Windenburg is the family's patriarch and a widower, though being a romantic, he still has an active social life now that he is done grieving. He's also a snob and likes to look good except when he's relaxing at home with his family, then his clothes tend toward casual comfort. He still has some old-fashioned views about what's fashionable, and interestingly enough prefers the color green to red.
Heinrich looks quite a bit like his father and likes to be in charge, which probably serves him well in his business career. He and his wife Adalheid are still verty much in love and he loves spending time with his children when he can, though his father belives that's the nanny's job. He doesn't understand how his heir, Richard, could have turned out to be lazy and irresponsible.
Adalheid wasn't born into money, but she enjoys all the benefits it provides - namely the ability to throw lavish parties on a whim and donate to all her favoirte charities. She likes to wear nice clothes and enjoys an excuse to dress up.
Richard is going through a bit of a goth phase, preferring to wear mostly black. He loves nothing more than to spend the day listening to or playing music, preferrably somethinng of his own creation.
Sara is, as her name implies, a little princess, a girly girl who loves pink and would rather draw or tell stories about her dolls than play sports or roll around int he dirt. This doesn't mean she's queamish though, she can't afford to be with an older brother who loves to tease her.
Stefan is the spoiled baby of the family who is always into everything in his quest to learn all he can about the world around him. His favorite toys are dinosaurs and trains. He deosn't really have a preference in clothes yet, happily wearing whatever cute outfit his parents choose for him.

ENTRY DETAILS: I built a new tree house for Peter Pan and the lost boys of Neverland. You can find it by the Second star to the right and straight on 'til morning. It comes complete with Captain Hook's flying ship. This tree house It has many different huts, all at different levels, and with many pathways attached to each. The perfect tree house for a good game of tag! There are so many things to discover, and many ways to get there around this tree house. There is even a possibility that the waters are mermaid infested. The perfect home for someone who never wants to grow up!
This build challenged me with all the different levels, connecting the stairs, making the roofs work, not having branches in random places, and making sure it was all usable... but it was soo much fun to build!!

ENTRY DETAILS: My idea was based on an actual house I found called Luna Parc in New Jersey. It was built by an artist and to me, was the perfect example of whimsy in a build. I tried to keep the look and feel of the house as close to the original as possible within the restrictions of Sims 4 building and gameplay. The lot is bright, colorful, cheery, cluttered and ideal for a fun, creative and eccentric Sim family.
