#BnS134 - The Hawthorne Project X - The Ravenwoods

Dear Lords and Ladies of the Hawthorne Project,
Let me introduce myself; I am Lord Benjamin Thaddeus Ravenwood, adventurer, explorer, inventor and time traveler. I am writing to you on behalf of my Lady Elizabeth Genevieve Ravenwood and myself.
My Lady and I have traveled here from the year 1881. We never intended to stay here for very long, but unfortunately our timemachine has broken down. We have been exploring your magnificent time, finding shelter in the parks and places that are called 'camping'. So far it has been a wonderful experience, despite our broken machine.
Given enough time we surely would be able to repair the apparatus, but our situation has recently changed. Even though we never have been lucky enough to conceive, my Lady Elizabeth is now with child. I am afraid the little one would not survive the harsh journey back in time even if we would be able to. We would never undertake an endeavor that could bring harm to our child, so we have decided we will have to stay in this century. At least until the child is old enough.
As far as I am concerned this century is a marvelous one, full of medical and technological wonders. Even if I sometimes wonder where all the steam is to power all of it.
In the short months we have been here, we have explored the jungles of Selvadorada, traveled the precarious roads of Granite Falls, wandered the deserts of Oasis Springs, revelled in the beauty of Windenburg and marveled at the great city of San Myshuno. We are enjoying the wild extravagance of this century and most of all the frankness of the people. The sensibilities of our own age never much agreed with us. Nevertheless, as expected, not every person is equally discerning. Some people in the city told us we were, -how did they put it?- 'Bloody cool Steampunks'. Of course, I checked, but we were neither cold nor bleeding at the time.
But I digress. I am writing because we are in need of a home. Now that we no longer are just the two of us, we need to make sure the little life we bring into this strange new world will have a good start. We were lucky to have been introduced to your wonderful project by a very friendly doctor of the San Myshuno Free Clinic, who then helped us though the bewildering process of 'downloading' and 'printing' the necessary papers that enabled me to write you this plea. They assured me the postal services are excellent and you will receive my writing within days!
There is still much to learn for us here and we will have to work hard to find a place in a time which is not our own so we can provide a stable living for our little one.
As far as the house is concerned, I am sure a simple roof over our heads will suffice. Nevertheless, Lady Elizabeth does miss the aesthetics of our time. She also longs for the tranquility of our old home in the country, where we were surrounded by nothing but nature. I must agree; everything here is very busy and loud. If I could make one request it would be to live somewhere quiet. Maybe somewhere where I could fish and plant a fruit- and vegetable garden. I do not think we need this thing called 'electricity' everybody is talking about, we have always managed fine with a little steam from a good fire. I like to build things, so I will need a space to work on my inventions and see to repairing our timemachine in case we will want to go back someday.
A woodfire and candles will do to warm ourselves and light the house. We can cook on a woodstove as well. We would love to keep some animals, but I am not sure this is possible at this time.
My Lady enjoys reading, painting and playing the violin. And of course we will need sufficient space and supplies for our child to grow up strong and smart like its parents.
We hope you will accept our humble request. Surely do not fear if this is not possible, above all we are adventurers, so we will rise to any challenge.

If it is in any way helpful, we did not come here empty handed. We have a considerable amount of valuables we can invest in this home if needed. But we still cannot purchase a house regularly, for we do not have any of the necessary papers to do so.

Mr. Ravenwood wanted a simple home while Mrs. Ravenwood missed the aesthetics of their time and wanted a home in the country. So I created the Ravenwood Hideaway! There is a fishing pond not far for Mr. Ravenwood to travel to. The location is in the woods where there are no neighbors only trees. Mr. Ravenwood requested a work shop so one was built w/the addition of a lovely green house since he does like to garden as well. Mrs. Ravenwood has her own little hobby room for creating paints or music and they can both enjoy time together in the lovely parlor room or entertain guests. The dining room is simple and as well as the kitchen. The bathroom has everything they need. The baby has it's own room that it can grow into. The Ravenwoods have their own little bedroom as well.
Also please note that the workshop & greenhouse are actually part of the 2nd level so anything changed there changes the 2nd level of the house.

The Ravenwood’s have moved to Willow Creek, a quiet cul-de-sac near the river. The found a remodeled trailer that has 2 bedrooms, one bath, an eat in kitchen, a desk and such for Lord Ravenwood. There is a cozy fire, easel, chess set and violin for Lady Ravenwood to enjoy the arts she loves. Out back is a robot station as Lord Ravenwood loves to tinker and he has also discovered beekeeping which will be beneficial to the plants Lady Ravenwood is dreaming of planting once the weather warms up. Lady Ravenwood is expecting and has already decorated the nursery for the new bundle of joy.

ENTRY DETAILS: Lady Ravenwood's Hobby Room. The bookcases are full and keep her mental health strong. There are many skill books to help her adjust to this new life. Lady Ravenwood loves the violin and serenades her husband often. Painting is a stress relief for Lady Ravenwood. She plans to fill her home with her artwork. The easel is placed by the windows for true light in the day. Decoration items around the room remind them of their most recent trips: A chicken they picked up from a vendor in Oasis Springs, a picture of Lady R from Windenburg, artwork scroll from San Myshuno, basket from Selvadora holding a piece of coal they found in Granite Falls. The coal reminds them of home.

ENTRY DETAILS: The Ravenwood's new home is a tiny Victorian-style home with 2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. It is spacious enough for the small family to live in, and there are several areas in the yard to do activities in.

ENTRY DETAILS: I wanted to try and recreate a Folk Victorian style house, that was entirely off grid, The house is in Windenburg as it is a quieter, slow paced town. There is Fishing spots right outside the house, with plenty of room to grow vegetables, and to maintain a beautiful garden. There is a bike on the porch for transportation and fitness. I made the nursery gender neutral, as that surprise will only be revealed at birth. I decorated in a style that the family should be use to.
I was having trouble getting everything to place when replacing the lot (not due to MOO) I was reading/ researching, and it seems to be a glitch/bug e.g the fireplace would disappear (if you download my lot)

Whilst their 40k budget didn't allow us to rebuild the large Stately Home that the Ravenswood's used to call home, after getting a very comprehensive description from Lady Ravenswood we have recreated the Gatehouse and the Gazebo from Ravenswood Estate. The home includes a drawing room, dining kitchen, parlour for Lady Ravenswood, study for Lord Ravenswood, the main bedroom and a nursery, and the Gazebo is now Lord Ravenswood's outdoor workshop.
Note: Oil lamps might suit the Ravenswoods perfectly but drove our photographer nuts, so we would like to thank A Lamp Named Claudine for her huge assistance in getting shots of the interior that are actually visible!!
Build notes: I knew straight away what I wanted to do with this build as I've had three separate friends who have lived in old Gatehouses and I've loved them all. I had to go hunting for one that would translate into a sims build though so the original inspiration was this building. Fitting everything into the budget was a fun challenge (I *really* wanted to keep the piano and chimneys, it made for some tough decisions!!) however I've been building starters recently so actually 40k seemed like quite a lot! I've been practicing with TOOL and watching some tutorials, so I've tried some new things in this build but anything MOO'd has been thoroughly playtested and all works perfectly. Everything also stays put if placed without MOO (apart from one irritating $73 item that I can't even find, so it's clearly nothing critical)

ENTRY DETAILS: The countryside of Windenburg was scoured for the perfect location as specified by Lord & Lady Ravenwood. An area called "Cottage Am See " fit our budget ( Empty lot cost $ 1,500 ) . Although the lot size is 20 x 20 all of what was specified by the Ravenwood's was accomplished..Using the considerable amount of valuables, and left overs that were discarded from the broken time machine. It was time to think out of the box and get creative. Keeping in mind a request by Lady Ravenwood the finished home reflects the aesthetics of the 1880's.This Steampunk Home in the country is surrounded by nothing but nature.The location is quiet and surrounded by a lake. {Am See means "at the lake" in German } So there will be a place for Lord Ravenwood to fish and a plot for a fruit & Vegetable garden. There is room enough to work on inventions and repairing the time-machine . This Home was created using many debug items. I had to think out of the box and get creative, in ways this builder has not done, ever..

ENTRY DETAILS: This is a small Victorian inspired cottage. Lady Ravenwood would have been accustomed to a grand Victorian home with a room for each activity and all the rooms filled with every manner of knick knacks, heavy curtains and bright wall papers. By contrast, this cottage is tiny, though the game assures me it exceeds 100 tiles. It is probably more sparsely furnished & decorated than these clients would prefer. I have used impossible wall paper colours: bright green and lilac to help Lady Elizabeth feel at home despite the sparse furnishing and decoration. I have added art by Jlewi38 of exotic travel destinations and vintage paintings as these SIMs are probably very well travelled and interested in discovering whatever they can find to learn about. This lot has landscaped gardens to help it feel more full and interesting. It can work off-grid even in freezing temperatures. The lot has its own well and all the lighting is by candles and lanterns. Debug lighting has been added to photograph but the lot is playable without the extra lighting. The home has a basement with a space to wash up after crafting and gardening and a full bath. The main floor houses the main living area, the master and a kitchen and back porch built of stone so that if there is a kitchen fire hopefully the house can be saved. Upstairs is one bedroom set as a hobby room. The well has surface access to water the garden. There is a water tower for water pressure in the house.

Lord and Lady Ravenwood are trapped in a time that is not their own, however, they were able to design a home that is filled with all the trappings of their time. While it does not possess the same grandeur of their estate, Lord and Lady Ravenwood nonetheless worked together with architects and artisans to create a home that is uniquely their own. The kitchen is small, but bright and well-appointed (as most Victorian kitchens were), and while the dining room is not large enough to host the opulent parties of their time, it is nonetheless lavish. The living room boasts floor to ceiling windows that overlook the countryside, and a crackling fire in a wood stove keeps the room warm on long winter days. Lord Ravenwood requested for his workshop to be tucked away, and so it is hidden behind a secret bookcase. Here, Lord Ravenwood has spent his time inventing a suite of robots to perform the duties that the servants in the estate of their time once carried out. Up the stairs- which are guarded by a triad of skeletal warriors from a dig in Selvadorada- is where the family's personal rooms are. Massive, steampunk-style windows dominate the Lord and Lady's bedroom (offering plenty of light and providing sweeping views of the countryside), and the newborn twins' nursery offers a calming view of the lake. Lady Ravenwood's private room is also tucked away at the top of the stairs, providing her a place to read, paint, and play the violin to her heart's content.
The garden outside is small, for now, but Lord and Lady Ravenwood plan to collect more plant specimens as time goes on and expand their garden accordingly. Eventually, after a few more digs in Selvadorada, and the sale of a few more collectibles, the Lord and Lady plan to build a greenhouse so they can have fresh produce all year long.

Nevertheless, as expected, not every person is equally discerning. Some people in the city told us we were, -how did they put it?- 'Bloody cool Steampunks'. Of course, I checked, but we were neither cold nor bleeding at the time.
But I digress. I am writing because we are in need of a home. Now that we no longer are just the two of us, we need to make sure the little life we bring into this strange new world will have a good start. We were lucky to have been introduced to your wonderful project by a very friendly doctor of the San Myshuno Free Clinic, who then helped us though the bewildering process of 'downloading' and 'printing' the necessary papers that enabled me to write you this plea. They assured me the postal services are excellent and you will receive my writing within days!
There is still much to learn for us here and we will have to work hard to find a place in a time which is not our own so we can provide a stable living for our little one.
As far as the house is concerned, I am sure a simple roof over our heads will suffice. Nevertheless, Lady Elizabeth does miss the aesthetics of our time. She also longs for the tranquility of our old home in the country, where we were surrounded by nothing but nature. I must agree; everything here is very busy and loud. If I could make one request it would be to live somewhere quiet. Maybe somewhere where I could fish and plant a fruit- and vegetable garden. I do not think we need this thing called 'electricity' everybody is talking about, we have always managed fine with a little steam from a good fire. I like to build things, so I will need a space to work on my inventions and see to repairing our timemachine in case we will want to go back someday.
A woodfire and candles will do to warm ourselves and light the house. We can cook on a woodstove as well. We would love to keep some animals, but I am not sure this is possible at this time.
My Lady enjoys reading, painting and playing the violin. And of course we will need sufficient space and supplies for our child to grow up strong and smart like its parents.
We hope you will accept our humble request. Surely do not fear if this is not possible, above all we are adventurers, so we will rise to any challenge.

Mr. Ravenwood wanted a simple home while Mrs. Ravenwood missed the aesthetics of their time and wanted a home in the country. So I created the Ravenwood Hideaway! There is a fishing pond not far for Mr. Ravenwood to travel to. The location is in the woods where there are no neighbors only trees. Mr. Ravenwood requested a work shop so one was built w/the addition of a lovely green house since he does like to garden as well. Mrs. Ravenwood has her own little hobby room for creating paints or music and they can both enjoy time together in the lovely parlor room or entertain guests. The dining room is simple and as well as the kitchen. The bathroom has everything they need. The baby has it's own room that it can grow into. The Ravenwoods have their own little bedroom as well.
Also please note that the workshop & greenhouse are actually part of the 2nd level so anything changed there changes the 2nd level of the house.

The Ravenwood’s have moved to Willow Creek, a quiet cul-de-sac near the river. The found a remodeled trailer that has 2 bedrooms, one bath, an eat in kitchen, a desk and such for Lord Ravenwood. There is a cozy fire, easel, chess set and violin for Lady Ravenwood to enjoy the arts she loves. Out back is a robot station as Lord Ravenwood loves to tinker and he has also discovered beekeeping which will be beneficial to the plants Lady Ravenwood is dreaming of planting once the weather warms up. Lady Ravenwood is expecting and has already decorated the nursery for the new bundle of joy.

ENTRY DETAILS: Lady Ravenwood's Hobby Room. The bookcases are full and keep her mental health strong. There are many skill books to help her adjust to this new life. Lady Ravenwood loves the violin and serenades her husband often. Painting is a stress relief for Lady Ravenwood. She plans to fill her home with her artwork. The easel is placed by the windows for true light in the day. Decoration items around the room remind them of their most recent trips: A chicken they picked up from a vendor in Oasis Springs, a picture of Lady R from Windenburg, artwork scroll from San Myshuno, basket from Selvadora holding a piece of coal they found in Granite Falls. The coal reminds them of home.

ENTRY DETAILS: I wanted to try and recreate a Folk Victorian style house, that was entirely off grid, The house is in Windenburg as it is a quieter, slow paced town. There is Fishing spots right outside the house, with plenty of room to grow vegetables, and to maintain a beautiful garden. There is a bike on the porch for transportation and fitness. I made the nursery gender neutral, as that surprise will only be revealed at birth. I decorated in a style that the family should be use to.
I was having trouble getting everything to place when replacing the lot (not due to MOO) I was reading/ researching, and it seems to be a glitch/bug e.g the fireplace would disappear (if you download my lot)

Whilst their 40k budget didn't allow us to rebuild the large Stately Home that the Ravenswood's used to call home, after getting a very comprehensive description from Lady Ravenswood we have recreated the Gatehouse and the Gazebo from Ravenswood Estate. The home includes a drawing room, dining kitchen, parlour for Lady Ravenswood, study for Lord Ravenswood, the main bedroom and a nursery, and the Gazebo is now Lord Ravenswood's outdoor workshop.
Note: Oil lamps might suit the Ravenswoods perfectly but drove our photographer nuts, so we would like to thank A Lamp Named Claudine for her huge assistance in getting shots of the interior that are actually visible!!
Build notes: I knew straight away what I wanted to do with this build as I've had three separate friends who have lived in old Gatehouses and I've loved them all. I had to go hunting for one that would translate into a sims build though so the original inspiration was this building. Fitting everything into the budget was a fun challenge (I *really* wanted to keep the piano and chimneys, it made for some tough decisions!!) however I've been building starters recently so actually 40k seemed like quite a lot! I've been practicing with TOOL and watching some tutorials, so I've tried some new things in this build but anything MOO'd has been thoroughly playtested and all works perfectly. Everything also stays put if placed without MOO (apart from one irritating $73 item that I can't even find, so it's clearly nothing critical)

ENTRY DETAILS: The countryside of Windenburg was scoured for the perfect location as specified by Lord & Lady Ravenwood. An area called "Cottage Am See " fit our budget ( Empty lot cost $ 1,500 ) . Although the lot size is 20 x 20 all of what was specified by the Ravenwood's was accomplished..Using the considerable amount of valuables, and left overs that were discarded from the broken time machine. It was time to think out of the box and get creative. Keeping in mind a request by Lady Ravenwood the finished home reflects the aesthetics of the 1880's.This Steampunk Home in the country is surrounded by nothing but nature.The location is quiet and surrounded by a lake. {Am See means "at the lake" in German } So there will be a place for Lord Ravenwood to fish and a plot for a fruit & Vegetable garden. There is room enough to work on inventions and repairing the time-machine . This Home was created using many debug items. ENTRY DETAILS: This is a small Victorian inspired cottage. Lady Ravenwood would have been accustomed to a grand Victorian home with a room for each activity and all the rooms filled with every manner of knick knacks, heavy curtains and bright wall papers. By contrast, this cottage is tiny, though the game assures me it exceeds 100 tiles. It is probably more sparsely furnished & decorated than these clients would prefer. I have used impossible wall paper colours: bright green and lilac to help Lady Elizabeth feel at home despite the sparse furnishing and decoration. I have added art by Jlewi38 of exotic travel destinations and vintage paintings as these SIMs are probably very well travelled and interested in discovering whatever they can find to learn about. This lot has landscaped gardens to help it feel more full and interesting. It can work off-grid even in freezing temperatures. The lot has its own well and all the lighting is by candles and lanterns. Debug lighting has been added to photograph but the lot is playable without the extra lighting. The home has a basement with a space to wash up after crafting and gardening and a full bath. The main floor houses the main living area, the master and a kitchen and back porch built of stone so that if there is a kitchen fire hopefully the house can be saved. Upstairs is one bedroom set as a hobby room. The well has surface access to water the garden. There is a water tower for water pressure in the house.

Lord and Lady Ravenwood are trapped in a time that is not their own, however, they were able to design a home that is filled with all the trappings of their time. While it does not possess the same grandeur of their estate, Lord and Lady Ravenwood nonetheless worked together with architects and artisans to create a home that is uniquely their own. The kitchen is small, but bright and well-appointed (as most Victorian kitchens were), and while the dining room is not large enough to host the opulent parties of their time, it is nonetheless lavish. The living room boasts floor to ceiling windows that overlook the countryside, and a crackling fire in a wood stove keeps the room warm on long winter days. Lord Ravenwood requested for his workshop to be tucked away, and so it is hidden behind a secret bookcase. Here, Lord Ravenwood has spent his time inventing a suite of robots to perform the duties that the servants in the estate of their time once carried out. Up the stairs- which are guarded by a triad of skeletal warriors from a dig in Selvadorada- is where the family's personal rooms are. Massive, steampunk-style windows dominate the Lord and Lady's bedroom (offering plenty of light and providing sweeping views of the countryside), and the newborn twins' nursery offers a calming view of the lake. Lady Ravenwood's private room is also tucked away at the top of the stairs, providing her a place to read, paint, and play the violin to her heart's content.
The garden outside is small, for now, but Lord and Lady Ravenwood plan to collect more plant specimens as time goes on and expand their garden accordingly. Eventually, after a few more digs in Selvadorada, and the sale of a few more collectibles, the Lord and Lady plan to build a greenhouse so they can have fresh produce all year long.
