#BnS141 - A Small Family in Need

As you wander around the Mid-Summer Festival, enjoying the warm sun on your arms and face, you cannot help but overhear a conversation going on between a very young boy and his harassed-looking mother.
"But where will we sleep, mama?" the young boy asks.
"I will try your Aunt Penny again in a little while. Maybe she can help us out a little bit," the woman answers, searching her purse for change. She pulls out a few coins and puts them on the bench between them. Then she starts digging in her purse again for more change.
"Mama," says the boy. "Mama, I am hungry." His little voice is low and quiet and a little shaky.
"I know, baby," she answers, just as quietly. "I am, too. But I don't get paid for a few days yet." She pulls out what looks like a penny and adds it to the small pile of change on the bench.
Hoping they like hot dogs and ice cream, you quickly head over to the concession stand and buy enough food for a small crowd. The man behind the counter helps you carry the food and drinks back to the bench.
"Hello," you say, introducing yourself as the man puts the food down and retreats back to his food stand.
"I am wondering if you can help me. We are doing a survey of how tasty our food choices are this year. Will you please try some of this food and give me your opinions?"
"Sure," says the boy, grabbing a freezer bunny creamsicle.
"Uh, okay," the woman says, looking a little dazed at your generosity. But it does not take her long to grab a hot dog and drink. "Thanks very much."
A closer inspection of the two reveals sharp, pointy elbows and chins as well as worn and slightly dirty clothes. It looks as if they may be living on the streets.
"Yum," the boy says enthusiastically. "This ice cream is great!"
"How long have you been in Willow Creek?" you ask, taking a small bite out of a hot dog.
"About a week," the boy says, taking a gulp of drink and snatching up a hot dog.
"The hot dogs are very good," the woman comments, a triffle nervously. "We have just moved here from Sunset Valley. I was able to get a job with the local cleaning service." She hesitates slightly. "Would you know of any cheap places for rent?"
"For rent? Err..." you answer, thinking fast. This small family obviously needs a little help to get on its feet again. "Well, sort of. There is a tiny house community just getting started. I have a few model homes available. Perhaps you could live in one and do some small jobs around the park for part of the lot rent. In time, if you like it, maybe we can work out a way for you to own the home. How does that sound?"
The woman looks almost scared as she asks about the kinds of jobs you want her to do. You laugh gently, and she joins in.
"Nothing illegal or hard, just collecting the rent money from the other lots, picking up any litter, let me know if there is any trouble, that sort of thing," you assure her. "You can keep your job and do these things in your spare time. We only have about ten tiny homes in the park so far."
"Will I have my own room?" the little boy asks, excited and smiling.
"You sure can," you laugh. "Help me carry this food to my car, and I can take you out there right now. Then you can choose which model home you would like to live in!"

ENTRY DETAILS: This rendition of a quaint cottage tiny home, is big enough to accommodate this mother and child. But big enough to give them each their own space. This home has good schools, fast internet, and gives off peace & quite. The living room, dining room, and the kitchen is an open concept. There are 2 playground equipment for the child to play and a place for the mother to sit. The colors are meant to be calming and relaxing.

ENTRY DETAILS: The main floor is open-concept living, with a kitchen tucked in behind a small "hallway" that contains a ladder to the upper floor. Upstairs there are two bedrooms and a small, but functional, bathroom. The mother's room is furnished with a murphy bed, so she can have a quiet private space during the day too. The child's room is decorated with a "Bosley the Bot" theme, with plenty of toys, storage space, and a small desk for homework.
Because of a mid-build change of plans, the game actually considers the house a 32-tile Micro home - it's actually 84 tiles. I had already started decorating the main floor when I changed directions, and enclosing it properly would have undone that work, so I left it.

ENTRY DETAILS: This cosy starter home for a small family (a mother and a son) offers a combined living room/dining room/kitchen, a bathroom and 2 bedrooms. All at an affordable price of §32,244 (house only)/ §33,744 (total cost).
This house is supposed to be part of a tiny house community in Willow Creek. To simulate this environment, I built this house on the Crick Cabana lot in the starter home area of Foundry Cove in Willow Creek.
I used 80 tiles for this house (45 for the bathroom and 2 bedrooms; 35 for the combined living room/dining room/kitchen).
To create a cosy atmosphere in the house, I decorated it in various shades of white, brown, beige and blue.
The furniture are generally mismatched to reflect how the tiny house community is just getting started. As the community organisers are probably on a tight budget, they may need to furnish the houses through yard sales, thrift stores, flea markets and/or donations.

ENTRY DETAILS: What started as a two story home ended up as craftsman style ranch that developed some contemporary elements. The boy has his own room with a dresser and an arts and crafts table. I left wall space open for him to fill with his creations. He also gets extra light with the roofing windows (forgot their names). Hopefully, for those with eco lifestyle, when you download it you can give it the solar panels I couldn't give it. The living area also functions as the sleeping and work area for the mom. Containing a murphy bed and computer set up. The backyard has two gardening pots left empty and a grill with under-tree sitting.

ENTRY DETAILS: When Valeria Fantaine first moved into this modest two bedroom model home it was cozy but lacked a personal touch. Since then she and her son Mateo have been hard at work updating their first real home. They spent many hours planting flowers surrounding the house and updated the interior with wallpaper, handmade knicknacks and simple furniture from local thrift shops. Though the home is small, Mateo is thrilled that they finally have enough space for a tiny kitten of their own, named Willow after their new hometown.
This lot is named after the musical theater song “Somewhere That’s Green” where a down on her luck character sings a song describing her perfect house: “Far from Skid Row, that’s where we’ll go, somewhere that’s green.”

ENTRY DETAILS: After being evicted from their home by a crooked landlord, Valeria and Mateo Fantaine journeyed to Willow Creek without much to their name. Through the kindness of strangers, they're finally settled into their tiny home in Willow Creek. Valeria is moving up in life, earning income both through odd jobs around the neighborhood and selling her crafted goods on Plopsy, allowing her to finally get Mateo the kitten he always wanted. They both decided to name the kitten Willow after the community that welcomed them so warmly.

Stacie and her son Austin are getting a new start by living in this model tiny home while helping out around the community in exchange for rent. The new tiny living community is focused on eco friendly construction materials and bringing nature into (and outside) the home. With play equipment in the backyard, as well as a place to enjoy some BBQ, this home is great for a parent with a child. (Uses 84 tiles)

ENTRY DETAILS: I designed the tiny home to be similar to some of the larger ones that are moved by large truck and placed into tiny home communities - hence it is long and narrow.However as it is a larger tiny home, it is fixed in place and landscaped. I designed a second similar one on the next lot to give a sense of the tiny home community. The house takes up 83 squares. A ladder leads up to the child's room and there is a computer and study space for the child and the mother to complete homework and odd jobs etc. The colour scheme is in warm tones of purples, oranges and reds as the sim I designed is originally from Sulani and it reminds her of home. The exterior is a sunny yellow with white trim. I tried to use minimal packs - and mostly feature Tiny living.

ENTRY DETAILS:
This tiny house (tier 2, 64 tiles) features two bedrooms (one bedroom for an adult and a boy's room with bunk beds), as well as a small lounge, small kitchen and bathroom with a shower. The bedrooms and living room open onto a small courtyard with a BBQ and outdoor seating area surrounded by pretty string lights. Things to do: TV and gaming console, bookcase for reading, BBQ, soccer ball. Notes: because this home is a model/show home made available to the mother and her son, the interior decor has a "staged" minimalist look instead of a "lived-in" look with a lot of personal clutter. The top bunk bed is decorative, not functional, but the bottom bunk bed is functional and has been play tested.

ENTRY DETAILS: Initially I had big plans for this house and quickly realized everything I originally wanted to use would be too expensive, so I had to cut back a little bit and didn't get as many decorations as I usually do, but I'm still happy with it. I thought of new tiny home and thought of fresh light colored wood and wanted to use it all over the house. Hope you enjoy!

This is my build - Lodam Cottage - for the Sims 4 Build and Share Challenge number 141. Designed with a small family in mind (as the challenge suggests!) it's a 2 bedroom, 1 bathroom home with a living/kitchen area and plenty of outdoors space. I wanted something cheery, warm and welcoming that was also child friendly. This build comes in at 84 tiles and is therefore a Tier 3 Tiny Build.

ENTRY DETAILS: It's a small house with bags of character! The wee lad has a warm and bright bedroom of his own and mum can enjoy some gaming time in the little study and then retreat to her cosy room at the end of the day. They can share good times and make memories in the great kitchen/living and the outdoor space is a bonus!

As you wander around the Mid-Summer Festival, enjoying the warm sun on your arms and face, you cannot help but overhear a conversation going on between a very young boy and his harassed-looking mother.
"But where will we sleep, mama?" the young boy asks.
"I will try your Aunt Penny again in a little while. Maybe she can help us out a little bit," the woman answers, searching her purse for change. She pulls out a few coins and puts them on the bench between them. Then she starts digging in her purse again for more change.
"Mama," says the boy. "Mama, I am hungry." His little voice is low and quiet and a little shaky.
"I know, baby," she answers, just as quietly. "I am, too. But I don't get paid for a few days yet." She pulls out what looks like a penny and adds it to the small pile of change on the bench.
Hoping they like hot dogs and ice cream, you quickly head over to the concession stand and buy enough food for a small crowd. The man behind the counter helps you carry the food and drinks back to the bench.
"Hello," you say, introducing yourself as the man puts the food down and retreats back to his food stand.
"I am wondering if you can help me. We are doing a survey of how tasty our food choices are this year. Will you please try some of this food and give me your opinions?"
"Sure," says the boy, grabbing a freezer bunny creamsicle.
"Uh, okay," the woman says, looking a little dazed at your generosity. But it does not take her long to grab a hot dog and drink. "Thanks very much."
A closer inspection of the two reveals sharp, pointy elbows and chins as well as worn and slightly dirty clothes. It looks as if they may be living on the streets.
"Yum," the boy says enthusiastically. "This ice cream is great!"
"How long have you been in Willow Creek?" you ask, taking a small bite out of a hot dog.
"About a week," the boy says, taking a gulp of drink and snatching up a hot dog.
"The hot dogs are very good," the woman comments, a triffle nervously. "We have just moved here from Sunset Valley. I was able to get a job with the local cleaning service." She hesitates slightly. "Would you know of any cheap places for rent?"
"For rent? Err..." you answer, thinking fast. This small family obviously needs a little help to get on its feet again. "Well, sort of. There is a tiny house community just getting started. I have a few model homes available. Perhaps you could live in one and do some small jobs around the park for part of the lot rent. In time, if you like it, maybe we can work out a way for you to own the home. How does that sound?"
The woman looks almost scared as she asks about the kinds of jobs you want her to do. You laugh gently, and she joins in.
"Nothing illegal or hard, just collecting the rent money from the other lots, picking up any litter, let me know if there is any trouble, that sort of thing," you assure her. "You can keep your job and do these things in your spare time. We only have about ten tiny homes in the park so far."
"Will I have my own room?" the little boy asks, excited and smiling.
"You sure can," you laugh. "Help me carry this food to my car, and I can take you out there right now. Then you can choose which model home you would like to live in!"

ENTRY DETAILS: The main floor is open-concept living, with a kitchen tucked in behind a small "hallway" that contains a ladder to the upper floor. Upstairs there are two bedrooms and a small, but functional, bathroom. The mother's room is furnished with a murphy bed, so she can have a quiet private space during the day too. The child's room is decorated with a "Bosley the Bot" theme, with plenty of toys, storage space, and a small desk for homework.
Because of a mid-build change of plans, the game actually considers the house a 32-tile Micro home - it's actually 84 tiles. I had already started decorating the main floor when I changed directions, and enclosing it properly would have undone that work, so I left it.

ENTRY DETAILS: This cosy starter home for a small family (a mother and a son) offers a combined living room/dining room/kitchen, a bathroom and 2 bedrooms. All at an affordable price of §32,244 (house only)/ §33,744 (total cost).
This house is supposed to be part of a tiny house community in Willow Creek. To simulate this environment, I built this house on the Crick Cabana lot in the starter home area of Foundry Cove in Willow Creek.
I used 80 tiles for this house (45 for the bathroom and 2 bedrooms; 35 for the combined living room/dining room/kitchen).
To create a cosy atmosphere in the house, I decorated it in various shades of white, brown, beige and blue.
The furniture are generally mismatched to reflect how the tiny house community is just getting started. As the community organisers are probably on a tight budget, they may need to furnish the houses through yard sales, thrift stores, flea markets and/or donations.

ENTRY DETAILS: What started as a two story home ended up as craftsman style ranch that developed some contemporary elements. The boy has his own room with a dresser and an arts and crafts table. I left wall space open for him to fill with his creations. He also gets extra light with the roofing windows (forgot their names). Hopefully, for those with eco lifestyle, when you download it you can give it the solar panels I couldn't give it. The living area also functions as the sleeping and work area for the mom. Containing a murphy bed and computer set up. The backyard has two gardening pots left empty and a grill with under-tree sitting.

ENTRY DETAILS: When Valeria Fantaine first moved into this modest two bedroom model home it was cozy but lacked a personal touch. Since then she and her son Mateo have been hard at work updating their first real home. They spent many hours planting flowers surrounding the house and updated the interior with wallpaper, handmade knicknacks and simple furniture from local thrift shops. Though the home is small, Mateo is thrilled that they finally have enough space for a tiny kitten of their own, named Willow after their new hometown.
This lot is named after the musical theater song “Somewhere That’s Green” where a down on her luck character sings a song describing her perfect house: “Far from Skid Row, that’s where we’ll go, somewhere that’s green.”

ENTRY DETAILS: I designed the tiny home to be similar to some of the larger ones that are moved by large truck and placed into tiny home communities - hence it is long and narrow.However as it is a larger tiny home, it is fixed in place and landscaped. I designed a second similar one on the next lot to give a sense of the tiny home community. The house takes up 83 squares. A ladder leads up to the child's room and there is a computer and study space for the child and the mother to complete homework and odd jobs etc. The colour scheme is in warm tones of purples, oranges and reds as the sim I designed is originally from Sulani and it reminds her of home. The exterior is a sunny yellow with white trim. I tried to use minimal packs - and mostly feature Tiny living.

ENTRY DETAILS:
This tiny house (tier 2, 64 tiles) features two bedrooms (one bedroom for an adult and a boy's room with bunk beds), as well as a small lounge, small kitchen and bathroom with a shower. The bedrooms and living room open onto a small courtyard with a BBQ and outdoor seating area surrounded by pretty string lights. Things to do: TV and gaming console, bookcase for reading, BBQ, soccer ball. Notes: because this home is a model/show home made available to the mother and her son, the interior decor has a "staged" minimalist look instead of a "lived-in" look with a lot of personal clutter. The top bunk bed is decorative, not functional, but the bottom bunk bed is functional and has been play tested.

This is my build - Lodam Cottage - for the Sims 4 Build and Share Challenge number 141.
