I have tried putting the mailbox inside after the fence was built and also placing the mailbox first then building around it. I could place the wall/fence all but the last section. Is this due to a change in the latest update or am I leaving out a step?

No to both. I put the mailbox on bare ground beside the walled room, then built the wall/fence around it. I finally closed off the gap in the fence with a hedge after making sure my sim could not go through it with the mailbox in place. Later I applied a grassy floor tile under the mailbox. It seems to be working well. I used the Landgraab's 50x50 foot lot so she could build a biggggg mansion with lots of landscaping. My sim, Cheyanne Ferris, is doing well so far. She did manage to have a cooking fire the second day and lost her stove and one counter but put it out herself. She is reluctant to buy another stove till her cooking skill is higher. I fenced off a 3x8 area for the mailbox and garden so have a lot of plants. I gave her the loves outdoors, creative, and childish traits and she is staying happy painting and gardening. Is it possible to sell the harvested plants?
