Based on that, I didn't make square boxes (I did the Challenge two separate times). I did 9x7 rectangles. 8X8= 64 tiles whereas 9x7 = 63 tiles, so I was still working within the rules. For me, 9x7 was easier to work with and is more aesthetically pleasing, even though it meant losing a tile.
You may want to make an L-shaped room or a T-shaped room or whatever strikes your fancy, just as long as the total living space doesn't exceed 64 tiles.
Maybe it's just the whole squareness of the living space that feels/felt cramped to me then. When I do the challenge next, I'll try your 9x7 trick and see if that feels a little more open. I had already done (and completed) the challenge in my personal save, and I'm doing an LP of the challenge on my YouTube channel. But I really had fun with it, so I know I'll do the challenge again.
