Frequently Asked Questions
Is a Legacy story allowed?
Yes, absolutely! Any story that you want to tell with Sims 4 that does not include inappropriate images or excessive inappropriate language can be shared with the group and be listed in the Shared Stories directory. Hint: an image of your Legacy Founder might make a nice story avatar ;) Furthermore, Legacy stories are their own Genre and must be listed as such.
What counts as an inappropriate image/theme? I have a legacy I started but my sim has woohooed as part of the story.
An "inappropriate image" would be something that the game would typically censor, as in adult type of imagery. The way the game depicts woohoo is not a problem, there's hearts and nothing inappropriate. All I mean is the use of certain mods and custom content that would result in images for adults only.
Additionally, your story can contain mature themes that aren't even part of gameplay, just make sure images and language are suitable for a PG audience.
(Clarification of inappropriate imagery)
I have a mod that removes the mosaic and have occasionally had images of Sims showering or taking a bath and in one chapter an image that was a bit risqué but always positioned so that nothing would actually be showing (bare back and that kind of thing)
So far, I've explored several pages of your thread and I see that you've used careful angles and none of the images would count as adult imagery. I need to be careful with words so they don't get changed to read "plum," and I apologize if that causes confusion to people who don't need simple, innocent words being censored all the time! Sometimes this site makes things unnecessarily difficult. Your images must not show the backside of a sim without the censor unless the sim is wearing some type of clothing that covers the center. Your images must not depict the frontal below the waist area of any male or female sim without clothing, the censor blur, or the area must be obscured by camera angle, props, other body parts such as legs, etc. Your images also must not show the entirely exposed chest of a female sim, the female chest must be at least partially obscured by the censor, clothing, body parts or the camera angle.
I'm not sure if we are allowed to have multiple stories in this topic?
Yes, you're allowed to as long as they're not posted at the same time. I'm listing the stories in the order received (unless a submission needs big corrections), so it wouldn't be fair to list multiple stories by the same author in a row. However, when a writer wishes to share a new story, they can elect to list their new story in their earlier spot in the list (and move the older story to the new, lower spot on the list) if the author wishes to present the newer work first.
Is it possible to do story cross-overs with other members of the group?
This question was not directly asked by one member, but rather a question put forth by several members who were interested in sharing their characters and doing some cross-over chapters. Personally, this is a really exciting idea to me! I am so happy because I wanted to bring storytellers together, and it has happened!! So, I am thrilled to say YES! you are free to negotiate a cross-over with other members of the Sims 4 Storyteller Group. Please note that no member is obligated to accept such a request, and all negotiations should take place via Private Messages or in your off-site communications (blog comments, etc) that you have developed with your storyteller friend. I also feel very strongly that all members need to be especially careful when agreeing to a cross-over or an exchange of characters and/or other story materials that you created. There is a very high potential for disagreements, hurt feelings, and ruined friendships, which is why I must caution all of you to be extremely cautious about the idea. With that said, if you feel confident in participating in a cross-over, you may do so. Any negative consequences that may occur must be dealt with outside of the Sims 4 Storyteller Group thread (this thread here) or any and all members involved in any upsetting public drama in this thread are subject to have their stories un-listed from the thread.
Can I update my story avatar?
Generally speaking, no. The purpose of the image is to provide a quick first impression to your potential readers (along with your brief description), to set your story apart from the other stories listed, to create a recognizable logo type of image that helps readers spot your story in the listing when they use it as a directory for their reading pleasure, etc. It would not be appropriate to change that image unless some terrible catastrophic event forced that to occur, and I would not wish that for you anyhow!
