Yes you can paint, garden, fish, dig, etc. to give your Time Lord income. They can also have a job if you want, and also, you can quit if you're tired of the job.

You will! When the basement comes out, I'm going to remodel mine. Once that's out, I'm changing the rules regarding the lot and restrict it to the basement level, just to give you the feeling of what a proper TARDIS is. But for now, we'll make do with our TAHDIS. Hehe.
