REUBEN'S ROLEPLAY - @JennaCatz
“You know it’s getting a little after 6pm now, I have to get back to change Reuben…” Brielle announced.
“I have a time saver if you’re willing?” I asked.
“Sure, I’m up for it…”
“I’m getting dressed at a tailor near my house. And they also have some really nice dresses there if you want to try a couple on?”
“Oh yeah, that would be cool, let’s go!” Brielle said eagerly not needing much encouragement.
When we arrived to the store, Brielle looked around at all the dresses, a little indecisive about what to wear.
“They are really lovely. But the producers kind of pick my wardrobe most of the time and I just go with it. I rarely wear anything fancy like this Reuben. I’m such a casual girl you know that…”
“Yeah I know, but you do look gorgeous when you get all fancied up. May I?” I asked her.
“You want to choose my dress?” she asked.
“If you do not mind, of course I will…”
“Actually I like that idea. I trust you completely…” she said as I began choosing a few different dresses that would suit her. “So if I end up looking silly, I can blame you… this is such a good deal!”
“I assure you sweetheart, you will look far from it.” Brielle smiled and stood against a male mannequin.
“Hey Reuben, this suit would totally look good on you…” she said nodding at the suit and winking.
“Really?” I asked.
“Yep, maybe you can try this one on. I usually only see you in black. I think grey would look fantastic on you!” Finally I handed her three dresses and she looked down at them before going to the dressing room.
“How did you guess my size?” she asked.
“I made an educated guess. Plus you did fit my shirt kind good this afternoon…” I sat down on a nearby chair and waited for Brielle to come out,
“Ta da!” she said looking tight around her legs. “I mean this is a good fit, but how am I supposed to walk in it?” she said trying to keep her balance. I laughed at her clumsiness and shook my head and she shook it with me and went back into the change room.
“This one fits a lot better. What do you think?”

“Beautiful…” Finally she came out in the last dress and I knew it was the one as soon as I saw her step a leg out of the curtain,
“I’m just not convinced this is my colour…” she said looking down. “Plus I mean I don’t want to shock your parents with the amount of cleavage it has!” I got up from the chair and squeezed her hands bringing them up to kiss them,
“You look like a queen. I am lost for words. It’s the one…” Brielle looked relieved and nodded while I turned to the dressing room to grab the hooks off the wall. I wanted to buy her a few fancy dresses but Brielle was far from all this. She would never wear them. But I was happy to buy her the dress and I spied a beautiful necklace on the back counter asking for the clerk to grab it for me. I held it in front of Bri and she gasped as I clasped it around her neck.
“OH! I can’t take this. This necklace costs way too much! What if I lose it!?” she said holding it tightly.
“You won’t,” I said smiling at her before paying the clerk for my suit as well before going to get dressed.

When arriving on my parent’s street Brielle was beginning to eye all the large houses and expensive modern builds.
“OH WOW! I mean I knew your family had money Reuben, but isn’t this north of San Myshuno where millionaires live?” she asked. “You must have been so lucky to grow up here…” she finished.
“My parents might live in a multi million house, but it’s generally surrounded by a lot of rich people who are empty nesters too. I rarely had any one to hang around and have fun with…”
“What did you do for fun as a kid?” she asked.
“Maybe play chess with my dad and watch old movies. I had fun and did what I wanted. But most of the time my parents were very busy and I would try and find my own fun. Very hard to when you didn’t want to break your mother’s best vases and statues…” The chauffeur came to a stop and Brielle and I slid off the seat together.
“This is a gorgeous house. It feel really old, but really new at the same time.”

“This house runs in my family. The original Reuben Church lived in this house, then my father… and I guess one day me or my kids I suppose…”
“This like a Disney princess house. Like too good to be true almost…”
“You’re too good to be true. Now c’mon lets go were late…” I said ushering her through the gates since she was still “oooo-ing” and ahhh-ing” at the house.
I opened the door for her and my father was passing the doorway as I poked my head in.
“Hey Dad!” he was surprised at first and stopped in his tracks, “Son you startled me…”
“Dad I’d like to introduce Brielle Quinn…” I said linking my fingers with hers.
“It is a pleasure dear. You look very royal tonight…” he smiled bringing Brielle's hand up for a peck.

“Oh thank you. It’s really great to meet you. I’m sure Reuben and you speak from the same tongue. He was just literally saying the same thing to me…” My father chuckled.
“Come, come. We were just in the study and sharing a drink before dinner…” Dad led us into the study and my mum’s eyes lit up when she saw us.
“Is this the final lady?” she said getting up to greet us.
“Yes, Mum this Brielle…”
“I wonder if he saved the best for last?” she asked.
“I hope so…” Brielle laughed.
“I’m Betty, it’s lovely to meet you…” she said shaking her hand.

Mum and Brielle talked right away and Dad and I stood over near the bar pouring a few drinks,
“You sure do have a decision on your hands Reuben. I do not want to be in your shoes after meeting all these lovely ladies…”
“Trust me I know. It was had to even eliminate the last woman. But I could pick any of these women and be happy with any of them for my life. Trying to single one out is impossible…” I said shaking my head.
“Just go with your heart, and who you see yourself with as an old man…” I nodded and grabbed Brielle’s drink and Dad grabbed my mother’s drink and sat back on the lounge seats and had a group discussion about my journey in the bachelor. Brielle kept our stories light and fun and my parents laughed at all the fun we had. My mum especially laughing at the butterfly house incident.

After a long dinner and many drinks later, Mum took Brielle into the kitchen with some plates even though she had staff to clean up. I knew it was her way of pulling Brielle away.
“I guess you know why we’re here? And I have been thinking really hard about my questions tonight for you. But I have noticed you’re much more youthful than the other girls. And very alive and really quirky… And though Reuben likes to have fun, he has a very serious side to his life. It’s not all fun and games unfortunately. Tell me a bit about your serious side?"
I understand that life is not all fun and games, and in some moments you do have to be serious. I too take my career seriously as it is my passion, and dream to be a distinguished music artist. I write my own songs and I attend venues to play my music, and try very hard to further my career by being noticed by potential managers. In the musical business, you have to be in it to win it and really try your hardest to be your best. And yes I may be younger than the other ladies, but I felt I matured early because I am the eldest of my siblings and kind of wanted to be a positive role model for them when we were younger.

"I just want you to know that being fun isn’t a bad quality, because you make my son laugh and you make him excited when he talks about your adventures. And it’s really beautiful. But can you tell me a little about your future? Do you have any goals or ideas about what you’re going to do after all this as a couple?"
My ultimate goal is to become a musical artist, as I mentioned before. So after all of this, I will be continuing to work on my music and keep playing as I did, and also let Rueben continue doing his job too. As a couple, we will enjoy each others company and spend as much time together as we can.
"It’s not hard to notice when someone is really taken aback by something. And I wondered whether you are intimidated by money and wealth? I don’t really want to say this because I don’t really know you very well dear, but do you seek this kind of life for money?"
Definitely not. I was taken aback by your wonderful house and furnishings as it is something I had never seen before. My family and I had lived a simple life with enough money to live comfortably. I am definitely not attracted to Rueben purely because of his wealth, but because he is kind, loving, affectionate, and someone I see myself growing happily old with.

I really hope saying that didn’t hurt your feelings, but I do have to ask the tough questions. At the end of the day if Reuben makes a decision, this lady is going to come into a family with money. And I’m not trying to protect a big pot of gold. I’m trying to protect my son. I hope you can understand…
It's alright, I understand completely. I feel that I would treat a situation such as this in the same way as you with any future children I have. I get why you ask whether I am interested in his money, or who he is as a person, as some women are money-hungry and gold diggers, I can assure you, that I am not one of those women." Brielle replied
"And finally… I know you’re only a young girl and maybe marriage and children might be a long ways away. But what are your ideas about having a family? Is it something you see in the next few years if you are chosen in the end?"
Of course. I cannot imagine not having children in my future. I come from such a large family, It's a little hard to imagine myself without a couple of children. Yes, I might be younger but having children and being married is something I've wanted for a while now.
