Thanks, @Airis6962 for a great challenge. :) I have played and finished the challenge with two sims: Hope Merchant and Joy Kaufmann. Their shops are situated side by side in the northern neighbourhood of Newcrest. I played each shop a week and then rotated to the other. It took the girls two weeks to reach the 17000 simolean goal, but since I forgot to transfer the money on the second Friday, they finished the challenge in three weeks.
Hope owns a thriving gift shop called Hope's Knick Knack Shack. She sells all kinds of decorative items ranging from flowers and lamps to art and statues. With several retail perks and expensive items the store brings in a handsome amount of simoleons per day. During the challenge Hope started dating Johnny Zest (tip: regular b ooty calls help to restore the fun motive after a busy day in the shop). After completing the challenge, Hope married Johnny and they are now the proud parents of a toddler girl Estrella.
Childish by nature, Joy Kaufmann runs a toy store called Joy Toys. Beside toys, she sells kid's decor items and furniture. After finishing the challenge, Joy married her long-time boyfriend Diego Lobo and moved into his fancy apartment in San Myshuno. This was a mistake from my part since I want to go on playing both the families and with the move Joy lost her shop and all her hard earned perks. I don't know why the store did not transfer with the move, but apparently in order to keep the store, I should have moved Diego in with her and then they could have moved back to his flat.
Anyway, I have uploaded both stores in their original state under the StarterRetailChallenge hashtag. Both shops are just under the 17000 simolean mark. The lots fit best in Newcrest since I have designed them after the surrounding backdrop buildings in the neighbourhood.
And sorry no screenshots. I can't be bothered to open a new account to upload pictures since I cannot use my old Photobucket account anymore :(
