This challenge is so much fun! When I created my controlled patient and other inmates, I decided to go completely random (except for the controlled Sim). I clicked the dice 3 times in every category possible, name, body shape, skintone, head shape, eyes, nose, lips, etc. and even did the same thing for their clothes! I ended up with some very unique looking Sims. hehe Surprisingly only one looked like they were completely insane. Poor guy had HUGE ears, close cropped red hair, mutton chops and his everyday outfit was Darth Vader wearing pink flip flops. LOL So fun!
Anyway, I'm on my second go round with a different randomized set of Sims now. The first round my controlled patient was extremely close to completing his aspiration in easy mode when I realized I'd forgotten to give him the insane trait! o.O Opps! I didn't mind starting over though since easy mode was a little TOO easy.
I'm doing medium mode now and my controlled patient, Jace Cooper, has just completed his first aspiraton, Painter Extraordinaire. He just started the Atheletic aspiration before I closed my game for a bit to let my laptop cool down. He's also only one level (Level 8 I think) away in obtaining the best easel from the Master of the Real branch in the Painter career. I'm thinking about taking all his vacation days and possibly having him quit his job after that. He already makes tons of money from his paintings.
Not sure what I'll do for his required third aspiration, but I want something that uses the handiness skill. With all the broken objects (even after upgrading) he's leveling up fast in that skill. I thought the 'unbreakable' toilet was, well, unbreakable... uh, no. *grumbles* At one point EVERYTHING that could break was broken, sparks & smoking everywhere, the stove and one counter was burned up from a fire that broke out when someone was cooking, the livingroom/kitchen was thoroughly flooded, everybody was filthy, angry, despised each other and fist fights were breaking out by the kicked over trash can outside. LOL Jace was at work when all this happened so he wasn't affected. So funny!
I know one of the aspirations involves a lot of handiness, maybe Nerd Brain? But it also requires building a rocket if I'm not mistaken. Are we allowed to purchase and build rockets to fulfil an aspiration even if it takes us over the skill objects limit?
That leads me to another question I have. In the rules it says:
"When you have finished building the asylum you cannot modify further, unless sims get stuck in a certain area or your asylum saves up enough money for a new skill building item or when you can purchase an upgraded item."
In reference to the bolded part, does that mean we CAN buy more skill building objects if the asylum has enough simoleans for them? Is the limit of 5 objects in the rules just for the beginning of the challenge?
Another question I have concerns earned skill objects too, sort've. The rules say you can't place anything that alters emotions unless it's a skill object earned from leveling up in your career. Is this true of objects/skills earned from leveling up in an aspiration too? The reason I ask is because Jace can now paint emotional paintings for sad, angry, flirty, playful, etc. without needing to be experiencing that emotion. If it's allowed I'd love to hang one or more on the walls just for fun to see how it affects his fellow inmates. hehe
Thanks for updating this challenge for TS4 and let me know your thoughts when you get a chance. :) @simswithcheese Going offline to play again now. Happy Simming everyone! <3
EDIT: Oh, before I go I have one more question. The rules say we're allowed to use satisfaction points to buy reward traits. Does that include the Youth potion? I want to keep Jace a young adult as long as possible so I can continue to play with him after the challenge is over. At the rate he's going now, he'll be an elder before he finishes all three aspirations. He only has 8 days left before his adult birthday. o.O Thanks!
