Time Keeps On Slipping

I’d like a setting for all platforms the game is played on to slow time slightly. Sim-time speeds by far too quickly. A slider? Perhaps an increase range from the current 1 Sim minute = 1 real-life second to 1 Sim minute = up to somewhere between 3 to 5 real-life seconds. I’m sure this is somewhat complicated, but it would be nice to see in perhaps the next version of the game (5).

    ...into the future...

I'm not sure how they'd do it, but it's an interesting idea.
  • Sim Time has always gone by SO fast, that's why we turn off aging for a bit, best way to do it is Age them halfway or most the way through their current Life Cycle, turn off aging and then just do whatever you want to do with them, how fast a day goes doesn't matter much when they aren't aging and feels a lot longer. Don't fall into the trap of stopping from aging permanently though LOL unless... you want to do something with the character like a fake vampire the way some humans are in real life saying they are vampires because they feel it suits them (that would be fun LOL), turn it on again to let them age up to the next Life Stage before turning it off again and when they get to the Elderly Life Stage it's up to you if you want to do more with them.
  • The problem I've had is that Sim time moves too fast when you consider how long a task takes. It can take 20 minutes for a time to stop washing their hands and walk to a computer, etc etc. Or homework takes hoooooours to do, which isn't entirely realistic. It makes it very hard to manage a University Sims time and actually enjoy the expansion
  • I have said this for twenty years! I used a mod for a bit in earlier adaptations of the game but it bogged it down so much, it wasn't worth it. I would set time at half speed (if I remember correctly) and that was far for fun to play!

It's possible to slow down time with mods, what that usually does though is that it makes all actions take longer. I found a good time setting for a while but I did notice that everything took so much longer, you will get money slower and different things does not happen as fast.
  • @BohoFlower I play (as I have almost exclusively) with aging set to off and occasionally age up my Sims in the way you suggest (I even stop progression in the Sim Worlds at large almost as a rule); I just wish the Sim minutes passed a tad more slowly.
  • Agreed, all - and I used a similar mod in ... TS2? 3? I can’t quite recall, but it wasn’t helpful overall as described above. Tasks take far too long at regular speed, and particularly when your Sim stands still for several in-game-minutes before beginning various interactions / tasks. Glad to hear I’m not alone. ?
