Today I Built My Idea of an 18th Century Inn

My 7th (7 times Great) Great-Grandfather lived near Smith Creek in the Northern Neck of the Colony of Virginia. He was also on the Cross-Roads of many travelers, be they Long Hunters or just Merchants. Sometimes, either coming or going, they would stop at his plantation, Toll House Farm (nothing to do with the famous cookies) and be asked for lodging. He got so fed up with this sort of thing that he took out a license to build and run an Inn. I have always wanted to show him in my game as an Innkeeper. While it won't be entirely possible given the restrictions of the game engine, I decided to give this a try. So far, it remains unoccupied. Once I sort through all of the lessons from For Rent, I may gain a clue. In the meantime, here is The Inn.

As you can see there is a dining hall; a recreation room; a Sitting Room and a large kitchen.

The rooms are small, but there is (shock of the year) indoor privies!

And that's how I spent most of the afternoon. :)
  • Your Inn is lovely! :) Very special background details about your great grandfather and why you built the inn. The exterior design is very nice and great windows. The interior furnishing and layout are lovely. Very nice dining hall and great games room. The sitting room is very nice. Very lovely bedrooms level.

Thank you so much. I had fun. It is suggested that Toll House Farm still exits, at least the house does, but I've yet to see it in person. I presume the Inn is no more, as we have this obnoxious penchant for destroying the old in favor of the new. So much history is callously tossed aside. I'm very fortunate to know about some of my Ancestors, as I do. Valentine (our Immigrant) was born in 1702 in London, England. His father came from France, fleeing after the Edict of Nantes was rescinded. He was a Huguenot. My sixth great-grandfather, John Sevier is said to have been born at Toll House Farm. He ended up becoming the very first governor of Tennessee in 1796 when the state was admitted to the Union.
