Ultimate Decades Challenge - Day 32 - Year 1307 - Updated Nov. 17
Hello! Follow along with me as I play Morbid's Ultimate Decades Challenge! The challenge begins in the year 1300 and goes all the way through history to the present day.
We will follow Thomas Farvale, 16, living with his parents, Caitlin and Edward Farvale. He has two older sisters. Anna (20) and Elizabeth (18) who are both married.

I have updated Henford-on-Bagley to look medieval, as well as a few other worlds. I used a combination of some builds from DivanTheSimmer's Medieval Save and SnarkyWitch's Medieval Henford-on-Bagley. I also am using quite a few mods, but that's totally not necessary in order to do this challenge. :)
Glad that Kimberly got a cow (Milky - ha!) and was able to make a nice dinner for Christmas. Ahh...Emma gave her a white stone, how sweet. Nice that everyone came over and celebrated together. About the bard mod - It takes a long time to write songs, why don't you have Kimberly go to town a few days a week for a set amount of time and sing/play an instrument at the pub or in the square. At least she would get some tips in addition to the songwriting. Just a thought. Nice holiday overall and wonderful gift from Father Winter.
In my story, when they aged up to YA, I was going to have them pretend they had medieval jobs. I had seen a mod for medieval careers, and it's probably the one that you were trying to use. However, I went to a site where they listed real medieval jobs, and I was going to "pretend" along those lines, and, of course, one of them was a bard. I was trying to match some of the aspirations to medieval jobs. I know with the cupcake machine, if you make excellent cupcakes, you can sell the cupcakes to a local bakery. So that would work well for a baker job.
The white stone was some fossil or something I couldn't remember the name of lol. Yes, I had thought of having her play/sing in the tavern, so I will definitely do that. She can build up her skill while getting tips! I also looked up jobs, and yes it will mostly be pretending. The mod would have been nice for her to actually make money with but oh well lol. That's a good idea with the cupcake machine. You could maybe open a retail shop as a baker. I thought of doing the base game painter career too as that was a career, but you'd have to ignore the modern outfits for work. Painting is so easy to make money though without having a career. Definitely lots of options. :)

After Christmas Kimberly began her apprenticeship. Kimberly dropped Emma off with Caitlin and headed to Finchwick.
There was a small stage set up in the Tavern. Kimberly met Hilda, the bardess she was to work with. She was very friendly, and very talented. Kimberly listened to her sing. She thought she could definitely learn a lot form her. https://i.ibb.co/gR98Wr8/11-15-23-1-48-28-PM.png

Back at home, Kimberly used the money from Father Winter to make some upgrades to the farm and house. She enjoyed singing at the tavern. She met lots of people and she made some tips; though there was the occasional rowdy patron, but she got to sing folk lore and poems, and most of all, the singing filled her heart with joy.

She sat on the bench and remembered the kiss they had shared the day Thomas had proposed to her.

While they were gathered together, a Knight came to the door to inform Kimberly that...some distant relative had left her some money! Could it be another miracle, on Twelfth Night? She couldn't believe it.

It was another great holiday and tomorrow would bring a new year and a new season. What will be in store next?
According to Morbid's rules, Twelfth Night is a celebration to remember the visit of the wise men who visited Jesus after his birth. I didn't actually look into this very much, but I made a holiday with some traditions similar to New Years, since that was the holiday that would have been on the calendar at this time.
Also, violins weren't invented until the 1500's so that's why I called Richard's violin a "bowed instrument."

I'm glad Kimberly was able to start her apprenticeship. That's too bad about the mod though.

I like the changes to the house!
I was wondering, the knight that told them about the money, how was he dressed as a knight? Did he just so happen to be wearing a knight's helmet or are all/most of the npcs dressed in medieval outfits?
If you want to use any of the modern careers, such as the painter career you mentioned, you can actually change their work outfit using cheats. The cheat is: sims.modify_career_outfit_in_cas I think you have to use it every time they get promoted, though.
Before I started I downloaded some medieval looking Sims from the gallery, a few of which were knights. I think the sim that called must have been one of those. :) So most of the townies in my game are medieval looking, unless they are ones the game generates. I usually delete them, or if I like them I'll put them in a medieval outfit.

Nice upgrades to the house. Congrats to Emma for maxing all her toddler skills. And...lucky Kimberly getting that call and getting some more simoleons :) Very sad remembrance on the bench about Thomas. I miss him, too.
Kimberly had a want to have some aged nectar so I thought I'd get her a nectar maker. I liked how you had the ladder going down to yours so I changed mine and now there's much more room. They can't take food out of the fridge and climb the ladder though so I had to put it upstairs lol.

"Of course not! Daddy loved you very much. Daddy can't come home now, but one day we will get to see him again."

Over at the Harper residence Elizabeth and John were preparing for Camilla's birthday. She was turning 6 years old! John was singing to her, which he often did, to much delight from Camilla. She loved listening to John sing. https://i.imgur.com/ElRWfxh.png

"Mother?" she started. "Am I...really your daughter?"

"Of course, you will always be my daughter, but...it is true that you were not always mine. Sister Agnes found you when you were very small. You were so hungry and there was no one to look after you. And so your father and I took you in. And we loved you from the moment you first came."

"We don't know...there was no one with you when you were found."
"Did they die?"
"....that's very possible. That often happens to those who have no home, especially when it's cold out..."

"No dear, I'm afraid we can't..."
"But we never go anywhere!" she whined. "Why can't we go? Is it because of...my powers?"
"If anyone were to find out about them," Elizabeth started, "it could be very bad..."
"But I'm learning to control them, I can..."
"No, you mustn't!" Elizabeth cried. "It's very dangerous. You must stop using them. We don't know what will happen."
"Yes, mother..." she replied. And then, "But it's my birthday, can't we please go see Maren? I promise I won't let anything happen."

Camilla screeched with delight and hugged John and Elizabeth. "Thank you thank you thank you thank you!"

Everyone gathered for Maren's birthday. The children played and there was, of course, cake.

Richard again had to be the bearer of bad news. He pulled her aside by the fireplace.

"And my father?" Kimberly asked. "Is he okay?"

Another sad chapter...I'm sorry! Benjamin rolled 3 extra years, putting his end of life at 43 years of life. :( Is death indeed following Kimberly? I hope not...
Maren and Camilla rolled 15 and 16. A 9, or a 19 and they die, so all is well there.
