THE CHALLENGE:https://i.postimg.cc/m2kK8RBn/morbids-ultimate-decades-challenge.pngThis challenge is based on Morbid's Ultimate Decades Challenge. It is a very involved challenge, and there are also spreadsheets (a blank one is available in the challenge write up), to track your family's progress, and also to keep track of what "year" it is. For instance, year 1300 lasts a mere 4 sim days. And, there are certain restrictions that come with the time period you are working on, such as what harvestables you can grow, and restrictions on items you can't use during that time period (for instance, in 1300, there was no electricity, so you can't have a tv). This challenge is not for the faint of heart. as it involves "death rolls" to coincide with what could have happened to your sim during a certain time period (disease, etc.). For someone who gets very attached to their sims, this, in itself will be a challenge for me.Most gamers play this challenge with mods and cc; however, I won't be. This will be played as a vanilla game. I have, however, up-dated all the builds in the world I will be playing in to reflect off-the-grid builds. Some builds have been replaced and new builds have been downloaded from the gallery. For this time period, I have chosen to live in Henford-on-Bagley, and most of the residents' clothing has been updated; however, I can't account for those random townies' clothing, or sims from other worlds popping in. @Snarkysims has actually re-done Henford-on-Bagley as a Medieval World, and I have used some of her builds in my gameplay. Additional medieval builds have been placed in Newcrest. Not quite the same as you can see modern buildings in the background, but I had an overflow of lots that I wanted to use, and that is where I placed them.And so...the challenge begins...

Matching young sims together was her specialty, and so, when Parson De Baskerville had approached her with a request to enter a marriage contract for his nieces, Agatha had jotted down some notes on each niece and then consulted her extensive list of eligible men and had come up with the perfect family.https://i.postimg.cc/brgWMtbk/i-need-to-marry-my-nieces.pngThe Fletcher family had 3 eligible sons who were of marrying age, and together with Parson de Baskerville's 3 nieces, would be perfect. Yes, keep it all in the family, and keep them here in Henford-on-Bagley. That is how Agatha kept her business going. Now, as far as who would be matched with whom, that was a bit of a dilemma, as the Fletcher brothers seemed to have some quirks. Agatha proposed that a family meeting be held at the Fletcher Farm to introduce the two families. Perhaps, fate would lend a hand and there would be some instant attraction between the Fletchers and the De Baskervilles. He preferred to spend his time at The Knight's Stronghold, watching the Knights practice archery, jousting and riding horses. After his chores on the farm were done, he would rush over and help in the Royal Stables. A kindly Knight had seen Reginald's interest and appointed him as his Page. And therein started Reginald's training to become a Knight.His parents had thought Reginald's obsession with being a Knight was just a passing fancy. But as the years passed, Reginald was steadfast in his desire to become a Knight, and his loyalty to the King was greater than his concern for the Fletcher Farm. After discussing it, his parents were in agreement that perhaps the Fletcher Farm should pass to one of the twins, and later decided that it should pass to William. His father knew that Reginald would make a fine Knight and a fine husband. He was loyal and athletic, although Reginald sometimes didn't pick up after himself. His mother figured that being a Knight had its advantages. Afterall, Reginald would then he part of the lower nobility. And what woman would not want to be called Lady Fletcher? Well, one thing led to another, and swords were drawn...which left Thaddeus with a scar on his face. He did win the fight; however, after the incident Thaddeus' disposition seemed even worse.He has always been good with his hands, and had a knack for fixing broken items around the farm. His father feels that Thaddeus' handiness skill is a good way to combat his son's moodiness. However, his mother is worried that Thaddeus' hot temper will drive away any possible wife. Ian and Gwendolyn were getting on in years, and the pitter-patter of little feet were very much on their minds. It would indeed be fortunate if one of Parson De Baskerville's nieces liked children...and maybe one who could cook. It's not that Colette didn't assign Isabelle chores, she did, but as soon as her chores were done, Isabelle would head outside to explore and collect things. A lot of times, Isabelle's collections yielded some mushrooms, which Colette would use in her cooking. As their simoleons were limited, this greatly helped their family's finances.One day, as Isabelle came in from collecting, she saw her sister Colette slumped over asleep on a corner stool, some unfinished mending still in her hands. It was at that point that Isabelle realized how much her sister Colette had taken on, and from that day forward, volunteered to do the mending. In fact, Isabelle was quite good at it, and had discovered a small box of hoops in one of the farm sheds. Colette told her that their mother had been skilled in needlework and Isabelle was quick to take up the craft. All Isabelle could hope was that one of these brothers would understand the importance of her needlework craft and encourage her to continue. Well, the horse that she wants but can't seem to convince her Uncle Bernard to get for her. And that's why she likes to visit The Bramblewood because that's where the Knight's Stronghold is located, and sometimes she will see one of the knights out riding his steed. Having a horse must be so wonderful.Her sisters are always telling her that she is a dreamer and childish, and Francesca thinks they are both too serious. Work, work, work is all they do, instead of enjoying everything that is around them. What her sisters don't know, is that Francesca has been sneaking off to Finchwick (alone!) and singing in the streets for tips. It is work, sort of...and with the simoleons she has earned, she will be able to purchase her own horse soon enough. And then she will be able to enter those horse competitions that she has heard the townspeople mention. With Francesca expecting again, she couldn't ride Buttercup. Francesca had told William that she had wanted to enter Buttercup in a horse competition, but couldn't train him. So, William decided to start training Buttercup for her. He set up a barrel course and took time everyday to get Buttercup familiar with that course. After a few days, William understood why Francesca enjoyed riding so much, and started to look forward to his training time with Buttercup.

Reginald came to ask Thaddeus about making a sword for him. Thaddeus held out a sword and asked Reginald if this was the type he wanted.

Reginald felt the weight of the sword and grasped it in his hands. Thaddeus thought that perhaps a little demonstration of his sword making was in order, and grabbed another sword from his table.

Thaddeus: "En garde!"

When Reginald arrived back at the De Baskerville cottage, it was time to put his sweet angel, Joan, to bed. A routine that he enjoyed so much. Perhaps it was because Colette had been so sad when Joan had first been born, because of her uncle's passing, and had not been able to care for Joan, but somehow Reginald had formed a very special bond with his daughter. His feelings towards Joan were very strong, and anytime she cried or fussed, he was the first one to go over to her. Yes, he was a very doting father.

Of course, Reginald was also a very caring husband, and not a day went by that he wasn't thankful that he had found his beautiful love, Colette. With his parents living with them now, she had just blossomed and was so happy. He looked forward to coming home each day to be with her and wrap his loving arms around her and kissing her sweet lips. He would never tire of doing that. And tonight, Colette shared some special news with him that she was expecting.

Gwendoyn: "Ian...remember at our sons' wedding when you had told me that I looked even more beautiful than on our wedding day, and then afterwards, when we got home...we....well...you know..."

Notes:

Yes, all three sisters are pregnant, and so is Gwendolyn. Reading ahead on the challenge rules, there are quite a few death rolls almost every year, so I decided that Gwendolyn and Ian should try for another baby. When I first did a check on the three households, only Francesca, Isabelle and Colette's pregnancy moodlet showed up. I figured that Gwendolyn didn't get pregnant. But when I did another round of checks awhile later, I saw the moodlet for Gwendolyn.

Since the weather was good, William had planned a yard sale for today. His parents were coming to the Fletcher Farm to help, and would be bringing some items from Colette and Isabelle, too. A few needlework hoops and bottles of milk were laid out for sale.

After doing the farm chores, Francesca took the first shift.

Ian: "Thank you, Your majesty. It would be an honor if you would rest and partake in some nourishment at our humble abode. My son, William and his wife, Francesca, now reside here, and would make you and your royal court most welcome."

King Edward: "Yes, she is. I will send one of my servants to bring her to the castle. Some tapestries are in need of repair, and her needlework skills would be much needed. Of course, she would be compensated for her time..."

Ian bowed slightly, "Thank you, your Majesty. She will be most pleased."

King Edward then bid him good day.

Oh my! And it looks like Queen Marguerite is coming to the yard sale, too. And there is Isabelle following behind her. Ian figured that he should let Gwendolyn and Francesca know that the King and Queen were here and to make some food.

Well, too late for that, as some of the knights and neighbors have already gone inside, and Gwendolyn has her hands full making food for everyone. And it appears that Reginald has stopped by too, probably to chat with his friend, Sir Lancelittle.

After a rather tiring, but exciting day, everyone headed home. Francesca hadn't been feeling well that afternoon and decided to head to bed for a nap, when suddenly, she felt the first pain...and she knew...she was in labor!

When William came inside, he saw Francesca clutching her stomach in pain.

William shook his head. His mother had left awhile ago, and by the looks of things, it would be too late to send a messenger to fetch her. And then William had a panic attack.

Oh my! What happened to that calm, cool William from the first birth? Maybe he was calm because his mother had been there, but now...he was on his own!

William shouted, "Don't worry...I remember...boil water...get clean cloths...it will be fine, Francesca...just...just don't push yet...!" he said as he ran into the kitchen knocking over some pots and stubbing his toe on the kitchen bench. Oh gosh! And Francesca's water wasn't the only thing that broke! The kitchen sink just broke, too!

After he repaired the sink and got the water on, he went over to Francesca and gave her a back massage.

Francesca, "William...Amelia needs a bath..."

William looked at her stunned, "You want me to give Amelia a bath while you are in labor?"

Francesca: "Yes, she needs one, and then she needs to be put down to sleep. But I...I can do it myself if...if it's too much for you. I know you have been working hard all day..."

William: "Heavens no! I will do it...but come into the bathroom with us so I can keep an eye on you..."

Francesca decided that she didn't want to be inside, "I...I haven't finished my chores. I...I need to harvest some prairie grass for Buttercup..."

With Amelia still in the bath, William couldn't just run after her, plus it's best not to argue with a woman in labor. Apparently, Francesca felt she just had to do this.

Francesca came back inside, and was feeling tired and in a lot of pain. It was a long, hard labor, longer than when Francesca gave birth to Amelia.

But soon, it was all over. And she gave birth to twin boys, Benedict and Bryan Fletcher. If all goes well, Benedict will be the next heir. Francesca and William held their new bundles of joy, and William was thankful that Francesca, and Benedict and Bryan were all fine. (See Death Rolls below).

And one of the first things that flashed through William's mind was that they needed a bigger house! Okay, well, maybe not the first thing!

5,7,10,15,20 - Babies - If any of the babies get these numbers, they die :(

Yay, everyone survived again! That's funny that the king came to the yard sale. I laughed at the name Sir Lancelittle. :D
