What Traits Would You Like To See?

There are some traits in the game I feel make more of an impact then others. I’m wondering what traits you would like to see if more were added? Mine would be a romance trait that goes beyond hopeless romantic, it would be obsessive romantic. A sim who is an obsessive romantic is very particular and picky when it comes to love, but once they develop a crush or fall in love they become obsessed with their love interest.

Like showing up unannounced at their love interests home, or calling them all the time, getting more angry when they see others forming better relationships or romance, even Turing to rage against the other sim who is flirting or with their love interest. I think it could make the game more interesting and add some dark humor to the sims that doesn’t have much of it.

This sim would most likely to be loyal too and wouldn’t accept any advancements or refuse to cheat on their spouse for the positive side of it. Their wants would be effected greatly by mostly it having to do with catering to their love and there fears would most likely be over run with losing them or not being social with them enough.

This game needs more humor and I’ve thought of some traits that could add that. An annoying trait I think would be funny too. A sim that gets a laugh or kick out of annoying other sims. These sims are more likely to repeat the same interactions like telling the same joke over and over, and when they get a negative reaction they tend to do it more and find it funny.

Their a bit of negative attention seekers and like to dance out of nowhere or make faces at sims for no reason. I think this could be funny, they don’t want to hurt other sims but they think it’s funny to annoy them a bit. I think this trait could force the developers to create more reactions from sims when sims act strange.

  • Calm - They're tend to fine and all moodlets are less effective to them (except for uncomfortable and dazed).

Mild - They're hard to get angry.

Impatient - They crafting items faster but tend to make them lower quality. If both impatient and perfectionist, the speed and quality are average. They're tend to tense or boring when doing things that needs patience (such as cleaning), unless they have related traits.

Hardcore - They love dark things, such as ghost, cemetery, horror movies. This doesn't mean they're evil, they even can be good.

Reserved - They'll be tense for any too intimately interaction and more tense for this in public.

Unintelligent - They're bad at everything that needs to intelligence, such as easily fail when play chess and doing homework slower. Their logic skill is growing slower, they also bad at the intelligence-related careers. Unintelligent doesn't mean bad at everything, they can still creative and/or others.

Stoical - Bad environment are less effective to them, but it doesn't mean they're slob or others. They neither mind eat low quality food nor always eat fast food, and also doesn't mind sleep in low quality bed, they can even sleep in the floor.

    I love your ideas!
  • easygoing, shy, cultured. @Shadow_Assassin i love all of your suggestions, especially impatient and stoical.

  • Hoping I misunderstood what the description of the dependent trait might be, but never being able to leave home without another adult escorting them, except to go to work or school, is either imprisonment, or it's the creating of an enslavement system in the game, not some cute personality trait.
  • I would love to see more mildly negative traits. Not so bad as erratic or kleptomaniac, but just things that would make your sim more interesting and give them character, or traits that has both drawbacks and perks at the same time.

    - Arrogant (brags, overly confident, sometimes acts superior to others)
    - Uncreative (learns creative skills slower)
    - Illogical (learn logical skills slower)
    - Logical (learn logical skills really fast but creative skills much slower)
    - Disloyal (quick to fail others, cheats easily)
    - No sense of humor (learns comedy and mischief skill much slower, more often fail at making jokes, do not appreciate joking from others)

I also love the idea of shy, impulsive, calm... all great suggestions.

I would also love elder traits that are exclusive for elders and come automatically based on the life they've lived. For example tings like these:

    - Fulfilled life (someone who were mostly happy and fulfilled at least one aspiration before becoming an elder)
    - Unfulfilled life (someone who failed to fulfill an aspiration, and was angry, tense or sad a lot of days)
    - Grandparent (someone who is or wants to be a grandparent and wants to spend a lot of time with the grandkids, nagging about having grandkids...)
    - Late bloomer (someone who wants to do all the things they didn't do in life, so fulfil their wants, learn something new, fulfil aspirations...)
    - Reminiscer (someone who wants to talk about the old days, reminisce about memories, make or look at photo album)

I wish we had an extra set of two traits that would randomly form based on how sims behave over time. It would be like "Get Famous" or "Werewolves". I would like an eventful trait where sims get extra boosts from attending and hosting a social event and unlock special rewards for gold social events. They could get a sad buff if they haven't attended an event in a while.

Another trait could be Redecorator. This would be a trait where sims feel the need to move furniture around or buy stuff often. Redecorating would give an inspired mood while not changing gives a tense moodlet.

I would like a Dependent trait for adults. These adults would only be able to leave their property with at least one other sim, except for school and work. There could be extra communication options where other sims could ask a dependent sim to do something and the dependent sim gets tense if they say decline. Sims are also more likely to say yes, pick up a late-night call or go somewhere with a dependent sim.

Thankful sims! Thankful sims love to give thanks and show appreciation even to objects. They should also get an additional energized bonus from doing so. Thankful sims would have an easier time making friends and can lose sad moodlets by appreciating their situation. I got the idea for this from "Seasons" holiday interactions.

Toddlers and child sims should have a picky eater trait. The first five times they eat a food item, they get into a tense mood. After that, they get a fine moodlet when eating those foods. Picky sims and also talk about comfort foods (foods they have eaten at least 5 times).

Devious sims would love to steal and be mischievous sorta like Evil and Kleptomaniac sims. The key difference is that during fights there would be a small chance of killing the other sim being fought.

I also wish there would be more traits buyable through the rewards store. There should be a fearless sim trait for 5,000 points. Fearless sims never develop fears and could talk about fears with other sims so they no longer develop scared or tense moodlets from the fear talked about with a fearless sim.

Expressive sims would enjoy sharing their emotions with others. There would be a paint, sing, play emotion interaction on the creative objects. Expressive sims would also be able to share their mood with other sims who interact with their expressive works or talk about emotions with the expressive sim.

I love that you said they should develop their own
Traits over time I’ve been saying that for a long time. That they should have traits to choose from but the. Some should come about due to their life experiences. Love that I’m not the only one who thought about this I’m hoping to see
    It in the sims 5

I think this was the idea of lifestyles that came with snowy escape?

  • I would love to have the option of choosing another trait. I would also like a loves/hates for all occults and for each occult separately. I would love to see another trait for toddlers. For a toddler who was like me - obeyed immediately, didn't cry when told not to, sat still when told, never messy with food, always put away toys, shared with everyone. I would also like a neat trait.
  • Traits like Evil are useless in a game where everything is set somewhere around E-10 (appropriate for everyone ages 10 and up).

Meanwhile 10 year olds are playing gta but that's another topic.

Traits in 4 have no range for action when all they can do is provide moodlets, not make sims do much.

I guess evil sims break dollhouses a lot, and engage in a goofy maniacal laugh animation, but that's it. They're swell folks otherwise.

But maybe because of the way sims4 is made, you can't retro-engineer personalities into them? Maybe it's a lost cause.

If traits meant much, I like the eccentric trait from 3. They are supposed to make the best inventors, but it would also be neat if they acted eccentric, like getting absorbed by a new idea such that they lose their sense of what's happening around them and may wander out of a conversation to make a sketch of their idea, or be found on the roof testing something and get struck by lightning.

brusque would be a realistic one that would put someone I know irl into the game, but maybe that's not so great. Brusque people always state their opinion even when not asked, cut others off sometimes, contradict flatly when they disagree, forget niceties like please and thank you most of the time, don't take hints, and are often either insensitive to others feelings or else just too arrogantly sure of their own rightness to care.

But maybe it would be better to have it be the more general descriptor of rude, because then in addition, they could do things like fart without apology or embarrassment, streak into other's conversations without invitation, and use other's things without asking ( though sims4 sims are all already rude in that way).

So...rude, as a foil to Proper? It sounds like it would add dimension and conflict to the game. Proper sims could easily despise rude sims.
