What would you change about parties in the Sims 4?

With the dreading Wedding Pack came some new parties. And that honestly makes me extremely happy. But there are some other types of parties I’d like to see in the sims. And lots of others updated. So, I’ve divided them by appropriate age brackets with a few crossovers.

Toddlers

Play Date: An updated version where toddlers play together. I would love to see an option where we need to cook food for all the toddlers.

Pool Play Date: I’d love to summer/pool version to the play date where the main theme is around the toddlers having to play in pools. This however requires the other parents to cooperate and watch their kids in the pool so I doubt this would function as hoped.


Kids

Play Date: I’d love to see a kid’s version of the play date. A bit more grown-up from the toddler version. Maybe goals like playing with a doll house, monkey bars, swings and voidcritters (given you have Kids Room Stuff).

Sleepovers: I’d love to see kids be able to have sleepovers again. Though this requires Sims to actually go to bed when you tell them to when they aren’t in your household. I would want to see this with a generation’s expansion, which undoubtably will come. I would want sleeping games and board games for kids. More general social interactions for kids too.


Teens:

Sleepovers: A more mature version of the kid’s version. Where teens (male or female) do make-up, hair, nails, ect. They can gossip about other teens, gush about crush, and other social interactions. I’d also love to see truth or dare and spin the bottle.

Teen Party: I want to see the teen party be brought from Sims 3 where the parents and younger kids disappear for a weekend and the teenagers can throw a party. If they are too loud cops would show up and break-up the party, then the parents would return home and yell at the teenagers. If you have the Parenting pack, they might even get grounded.


Young Adult/Adult

Baby Announcement/Sex Reveal: There is no real hype for new babies. I’d love to see the option to have a special party to announce a baby/announce the sex of the baby. I’d love to see special moodlets for multiples. And excitement/disappointment based on the sex of the baby based on an option for the parents choose for what sex they wanted the baby to be. I can tell you it’s really awkward to go to a party where a parent is disappointed in the sex of the baby at these kinds of things. You can’t really hide it very well.

Baby Shower/100 Day Party: We have never had baby showers before. In Sims 3 we used to get gifts in the mail after a baby was born, you know after you bought everything. But I’d love to see the option for people to give gifts before the baby was born this time around. I included a 100 Day Party because in some cultures this is done when a baby turns 100 Day Party. I would love to see this be adapted to fit cultures much like the ‘Chinese’ style wedding option.

Housewarming: The Welcome Wagon just doesn’t do it for me. I would love to have an actual housewarming party when moving to a new house or apartment. Having moodlets for getting a useful gift versus a useless gift or ugly gift would be entertaining to me.

Elder

Retirement Party: Elder seems really got the poop end of the stick when it comes to a social life. I’d love to see Elders be able to have retirement parties when they retire from their jobs. Invite all their coworkers, friends and family and enjoy a fulfilling career.

Tea Party: I just love the idea of a bunch of old ladies sitting around a tea party gossiping about the neighbors, competing over their grandchildren gifts/success/cuteness/ect, and sharing old memories. Elders need so much more attention.

*A Little Dark Here* Death Day Party: End your life with a bang. Go out celebrating your life to the fullest.


Special (Non-Age Specific)

Wake: I really want there to be the option for a wake and funeral because they really are two different kinds of end-of-life event. Some people have one of them, some both of them, and others nether. People can share stories, make a toast, ect. Make even a little bit of drama like an unknown child showing up, people fighting over the will, ect.

Funeral: This is more of a formal event. Maybe have the casket and a small speech. Either Sims can be buried out in a cemetery, or they can be taken home to be buried in the comfort of their home lot.


Slight Rant About Death

Talking about after death options: I’d love to see more death planning in general. Like making wills. Maybe a sim would like to be buried, another cremated, or maybe an eco-sim wants to be turned into fertilizer/become a tree. The latter is becoming more common these days. A sim could even set preferences if they want a wake, funeral, both or just want to go out without any fuss. I’d love to see a sim decide to set a theme for their wedding maybe a funny sim would want jokes told at their weddings and everyone to dress up in costumes. And if their family goes against their wishes they can come back as a vengeful ghost and wreak havoc on the household. Please give me this in a generation pack this time!
