Which way are you posting your screenshots to the forums?

For those who have made posts with screenshots, especially if you've put a story/SimLit, on the new forums, which have you found works better? To post screenshots from a url or directly on site? Is there a space limit for uploads for your entire account or just the post (I can't find that information)?

I want to put a story I've been working on onto the forum, but I'm not sure what to choose for screenshots. I've added two screenshots for a challenge/contest I entered last week and just uploaded them to the forum since it was only two using jpeg with low kb. But the story would use a lot more screenshots so I don't know which way would be best. Or if it even matters.

  • Uploading images to the forum generally works really well. I've been doing it a lot for the No CC Decades Challenge thread and so far no problems.

However, without spoilers a picture heavy thread is hard to read. The show more feature (instead of pages) means that there is a lot to load when the story gets longer. For the thread mentioned above that is not a huge issue, as I've included links to the different portions of the thread and you can settle for just loading those comments. For a story thread, however, it gets hard to load. For my own story (The Whittaker Saga) I have therefore set up a blog where I write the posts and then just link to that and add a single image in each comment. That way the size is kept down and the one image can help guide readers into 'have I read this or not yet?' territory so they click the right link.

I hope that helps you in your decision of what is right for you.

Thank you! I've looked at stories and threads people have posted here and it is chaotic to get through. The longer they are, the worse it gets. Linking to a blog is the best idea.

I haven't really posted stories, but at this point with the mess that this place is. I'm just not doing it at all. because pseudo-reddit is not the place for forum style threads
