Zombie Apocalypse Machinima Help?

Hey guys! For a while now, I've been wanting to make a zombie apocalypse (the walking dead style) machinima series, and by "for a while", I mean about two years, but I don't have good ideas, unique characters and locations...

So, I am asking for you, the viewers' help! What would you like to see from a zombie apocalypse series? I have some characters done already:

Lindy- A teenager, blonde, who was rescued from her high school while it was outrun by the infected. She is emotional, but handy. She also protects the ones she loves, but she sometimes can be very afraid.

Janna- A red haired young adult, she's the one who rescued Lindy and Jack. She is very good at using weapons and knows very useful survival tips. She would die for Lindy and Jack.

Jack- He is an 11 year old kid, with glasses and brown hair. He's very brave for his age, but the girls don't let him do much since they're afraid that he might die. He knows how to use guns and he's very active.

I would also like to get some cc suitable for this, like knives, pools of blood, guns, etc.

Alright, guys! You can give me plot ideas and character ideas! I am very excited to see what you'll come up with!

  • Zombie fridges - nobody has done that, not even George A. Romero.

If done well, Hollywood will make an actual film featuring zombie fridges - hoardes of them.

So, the first encounter will be their own fridge - it will make a grab for one of them when they go to open it - the others will drag the other Sim out of it.

Zombie fridges kind of waddle - ie they don't slide along, they sort of waddle like a penguin - if you get what I mean. As they waddle, their door flaps open and closed, like a rabid mouth.

I could go on forever, but then it would be all my idea.

  • Hey! Funnily enough, I've recently just started work on a Sims 4 Zombie Apocalypse Machinima myself. Do you prefer realistic CC for machinimas or Maxis Match? I find that most zombie stuff I've found is more on the realistic side, especially if you want to go all out with deteriorating buildings and such. I found most of my stuff on Lana CC Finds Tumblr. Her tags are so helpful when you're looking for specific themes. I would link them but of course, I'm not a member yet. Just check out her Tumblr called sssvitlans and check out her Sims 4 Tags section. There you'll find:

The Scifi CC Tag. Even though this is sci-fi and has a lot of alien stuff in it, I found it super helpful because I wanted to give the military in my story and certain characters a futuristic look. Because my story is set in the near future.

The Grunge/Broken Tag. This is where I got a TON of my amazing decor. I'd suggest downloading the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Set by granny zaza, it has a ton of great decor items. It really helps give off that post-apocalypse dystopian vibe.

And then, of course, the Zombie Tag. Here's where you'll find a lot of zombie facepaint, skin sets, etc. I'd also suggest searching up Sims 4 Halloween Skins CC because you can find a lot of makeup for Vampires, Zombies, etc. that way.

But I'd suggest you check thesimsresource as well. Honestly, this wouldn't be a question I usually answer but given I just did this research myself and still had most of the tabs open. Why not hey?

So I hope you find those helpful! I would post the links but I'm unable to. Sorry! Also in reference to your questions about story-telling, a Sims 4 Machinima about zombies hasn't really been made yet so you're really free to do whatever you want. As a reference, I'd suggest you watch the Sims 2 Machinima: Apokalypsis and Sims 3 Machinima: 723. They're good to see what works in a post-apocalypse story and what audiences enjoy (feel free to read the comments). They're super short as 723 only has 1 episode and Apokalypsis has like 5 or 6, each like 3-4 minutes long. They're good research to find out what you enjoy watching in a zombie series.

Personally, I'd suggest, to begin, focus on the story of the actual apocalypse itself. How did it happen? Was it a virus that caused the zombie outbreak? A disease from animals? An alien meteorite that brought with it diseases? Even if these answers aren't directly in your Machinima, it's helpful as a writer to keep these answers in mind while you're writing and they'll naturally bleed through your writing. I'd also suggest looking into the different poses/animations available and what's possible in the game. You don't want to write an amazing script only to find out none of it is possible in the Sims. Honestly, this is how I write and then I end up having to make a crap ton of animations from scratch because they don't exist either in the games or by other CC makers. Which is totally fine if you know how to make animations, but even as someone who has past experience working with poses and animations, it's still very time-consuming. Hence why my zombie machinima is a side project that will likely not be ready till next SIFF. But to be fair I'm also working on a different machinima at the same time. Sorry, I'm talking about my own stuff. Anyways, I'd also suggest figuring out whether you want to make it a VO series or a subtitle machinima. It's completely up to you but decide as soon as you can so you can work on auditioning people if necessary. The best thing to do with a VO series is have a finished script for at least the first episode before you put up a video for the casting call, but then while the auditions are filing in, work on finishing up sets (lots) and filming the actual first episode. You don't want to still be writing when you've already cast people as voice actors because they'll end up having to wait a long time and eventually give up on you ever releasing an episode. I realize I kinda rambled but I hope there was some helpful information in there somewhere. If you have any questions feel free to ask, I love doing this. If you wanna check out my youtube, the name's All Harlow's Eve and I'm currently working on a series called The Key.
