A Simmering Death: Food Poisoning Overhaul for The Sims 4 (and Avoiding NSFW)

The Sims 4's food poisoning system feels like a burnt offering. While the pufferfish gamble adds some spice, it's a one-note dish. Shows like Julie and the Phantoms depict foodborne illness as a dramatic plot point, but The Sims 4 serves up nothing but a "Report Restaurant" option. This lack of consequence frustrates players, leading some to download mods with extreme violence, venturing into NSFW territory.

Let's revamp the menu with a tastier, and safer, food poisoning experience:

Beyond the Pufferfish:

 * Spoiled Ingredients: Moldy cheese or rotten veggies? Higher food poisoning risk!

 * Unsanitary Kitchens: Dirty counters, dirty chefs, dirty Sims – all bad for your health.

 * Overindulgence: Feasting like there's no tomorrow? Prepare for digestive distress tomorrow.

Death on the Menu (with Options):

 * Severity Levels: From mild nausea to a full-blown, Grim Reaper-summoning illness.

 * Combating the Calamity: Doctor visits, purchasable remedies – desperate measures for desperate Sims.

Preventive Measures:

 * Improved Refrigeration: Fresher ingredients, lower risk.

 * High-Sanitation Appliances: Cleanliness is next to… well, not death by food poisoning.

The Benefits of a Balanced Diet (of Gameplay):

 * Risk and Consequence: Food choices pack a punch, forcing players to consider the potential consequences.

 * Enhanced Realism: Diverse food poisoning causes mirror real-world dangers.

 * Storytelling Potential: Unfold dramatic narratives with illness-related storylines.

Imagine the drama! An SDX drop focused on new (and potentially lethal) food poisoning would be a game-changer. It would add depth, strategy, and a dash of danger to gameplay, all while providing a more natural and engaging alternative to risky mods. With a sprinkle of new mechanics, The Sims 4 can serve up a more flavorful and immersive gameplay

@Dwkay9428 Your concept for food-related illness could be fun and a good challenge for Simple Living. It would add a new layer of importance to having clean surroundings and upgrade appliances. It would also add a new dynamic to the Slob trait, which allows Sims to eat food out of the trash. Having the Slob trait could essentially be a countermeasure to spoiled food or food-poisoning from dirty surroundings, perhaps. Maybe "Iron Stomach" could be a new Satisfaction Reward Trait with this food update.
  • They really do need to have food add more actual gameplay like this, I honestly don't care that we have 234905390349056 things to prepare in Sims 4. If anything, it just clogs up the menu. I was fine with the few choices we had in Sims 2.

Some slight negative moodlet just won't cut it.

With spicy food I'd love to see sims sweat or maybe have flames come out of their mouth when they can't handle it, rushing to drink something. Could be trait related, some traits causing them to handle it poorly while others like hothead could be able to handle it perfectly fine. Could be a fun little positive side effect of the hothead trait.

Some types of food when poorly prepared, like tacos perhaps, could also cause sims to sit on the toilet a longer time after eating it, maybe even running to the toilet if it's really bad. Sims need to run to the toilet when they truly have to go either way, I hate that stupid slow constipated walked they do in sims 4.  That should be exclusive to proper sims, they are the ones with a stick up their butt after all.

Problem with the puffer fish is also that it's merely a chance of death. And anything in sims 4 with a chance of death seems to have a very low chance at that. So that chance should be increased for certain, like only if perfectly made would it be safe, and anything less could be deadly.

And a few other select meals could only be deadly if spoiled or of poor quality, unless it's a slob who eats them.

I personally would not mind some option to actually poison food though, and allow for indirect murder that way.
