Can you not save to library while you’re working on a household? I must admit I’ve never tried, but I do sometimes save lots to the library while I’m building, to create a backup in case something crashes or I end up hating a change I’m about to make while experimenting…
Then I just go into the library again when I’m done and delete duplicates/intermediate stages.

@PipMenace you can if you're just creating a few Sims who aren't related, say a group of roommates but if you add family members it usually deletes their relationships and it won't always let you add them again, or add Dynamics. It produces a message saying something like "cannot edit pre-existing Sims" and Dynamics boxes are greyed out. It also won't let you use the body sliders again either. At least it doesn't for me on Xbox. The body sliders go away once the Sim has been created and only return for new Sims added. But I can still adjust sizes a little bit manually.
It may work differently depending on platforms though but I couldn't say for sure.

@simsplayer818Perhaps console is different. I've never had an issue on Mac with preserving relationships within the household from the library, nor any issues editing as long as I haven't placed them in world yet. So if I was part way through creating an 8-Sim household and had to go, I'd save them to my library, then come back later and create a new household to open CAS, then immediately open the library, find my family, place them using replace, and just keep going.
Of course that wouldn't work if you were trying to create family relationships over multiple households and had already split some off; saving to library does destroy all non-household relationships.- simsplayer8182 years agoHero
@PipMenacethat's interesting, it loses all relationships for me within the new household.
So the newly created family are no longer related and it's been like that for some years now. For one example, I placed a saved family from the library and saw their little girl wasn't related to them. Then I realised the links had gone. In that case I was able to link the parents as husband and wife but I couldn't link their daughter Quinn. It had taken me a while to create her and fill all 5 outfit categories for her too so I wasn't impressed as I had to recreate her. Then I continued noticing it with relationships and since Growing Together I also see it with Family Dynamics.
So perhaps it's a console issue or an Xbox issue.
