@simsplayer818Perhaps console is different. I've never had an issue on Mac with preserving relationships within the household from the library, nor any issues editing as long as I haven't placed them in world yet. So if I was part way through creating an 8-Sim household and had to go, I'd save them to my library, then come back later and create a new household to open CAS, then immediately open the library, find my family, place them using replace, and just keep going.
Of course that wouldn't work if you were trying to create family relationships over multiple households and had already split some off; saving to library does destroy all non-household relationships.
@PipMenacethat's interesting, it loses all relationships for me within the new household.
So the newly created family are no longer related and it's been like that for some years now. For one example, I placed a saved family from the library and saw their little girl wasn't related to them. Then I realised the links had gone. In that case I was able to link the parents as husband and wife but I couldn't link their daughter Quinn. It had taken me a while to create her and fill all 5 outfit categories for her too so I wasn't impressed as I had to recreate her. Then I continued noticing it with relationships and since Growing Together I also see it with Family Dynamics.
So perhaps it's a console issue or an Xbox issue.

interesting. I play on both Xbox and mostly PS5. I have these same issues. Once I save some features cannot be modified, both specific to the sim as well as family.
Say I make the mom and a child but haven’t yet made dad. Have to save and leave. When I come back I cannot make him the dad of the pre created child because it’s greyed out. However during game play I can make him adopt the child.- Moozilla132 years agoSeasoned Ace
That's really strange because I play on both Xbox and PC and have not actually experienced a difference when it comes to households imported from the library into CAS. With both platforms it preserves relationships for me and allows full editing (just as long as it's for a completely new game). I wonder why those differences would occur for some people playing the same platform and not for others. Possible bug?
- simsplayer8182 years agoHero@Moozilla13 perhaps content related then 🤔. I mentioned it years ago as a possible bug/issue but back then I had a lot less content. Nothing came from it so I left it.
I must test it now I've completed the DLCs collection and see if it's different now with the full game. Thinking of the last time I had an issue it was just after adding the Goth and Castle Kits and I was creating my Goth Sim's family. I've since then added the last pack, Vampires.
So can I ask if you have Growing Together can you edit the family dynamics after returning to a household? Because for me it's greyed out as soon as I stop editing the household for the first time.
I can add a new family member if I use Play with Genetics just fine but it usually won't let me add a link if I haven't used that feature. So that's why when the relationships are lost in the library I can't link them again and get the "can't edit pre-existing Sims" message.
It's been like this on Xbox One, Xbox One S, Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X.
Perhaps this belongs in Technical Issues Consoles.
