And today the unfulfilled dreams fear is annoying me. Three sims have it and they only get whims they cant fullfill. We used to be able to dismiss whims and get new ones. And there used to be three instead of just two. Now my sims are stuck with that fear and the only way to adress it is blocked.
For example I need to talk about fears but to enable to conversation option my sim needs to either plant something or live in a dirty environment. Dirty stuff isnt a thing on this lot so planting something is an option. I dont want another plant because there already is a big garden. I planted four oversized crops and none counted for the whim.

Just get rid of fears, reinstall the old system until someone invents a system that makes sense and is actually fun. This currently isnt.
I think today will be my last day playing for a while. In one of my main households I got Fear of Dead end job every day between three sims. Then Fear or unfulfilled goals started to jump in and like I said earlier you can only conquer one at a time. My return how routine now consists of wasting several hours cheering my sim up just to attempt regain passion. After todays play session I am more tired then relaxed. The worst part of this is I don't even see anything to suggest that this super borked up system is even on Maxis radar. After the Growing Pains fix there social media went back to business as usual trying to push the new expansion on people.
When you load a lot go to gameplay settings and disable wants & fears. It will re-enable itself after traveling but at least for awhile you dont have to suffer with this crap.
Yeah, what @Zasz_Zerg said. Any time I load a household, go into CAS, etc., and I see W&F popping back on unwanted I immediately go to gameplay options so I can turn them off again.
I just discovered another negative sideeffect of the fears feature. The ads about the game always talk about how we are supposed to tell OUR stories. Well, they sabotage this with fears. I got a sim here who has a fear and of course I have to do something completely random to talk to another sim about the fears to get rid of it. I have to invite a sim over which is not really an option due to the hermit theme or... drumroll here... break up with a long time partner for absolute no good reason!
This is by far the dumbest feature in the game until now. Even dumber than reminding adults of prom every week or sims autonomously only relaxing during the day instead of sleeping when they are close to passing out. Unbeleafable!
Yeah, the breakup is something special. I have a fate system and the first wants which my vampire got was to break up with his soulmate. Because I don’t like weddings *specially since MWS clutter the pie menu full of stupid marriage things, self after the wedding* they normally don’t get engaged/marriage. I don’t know if he rolled this wants because they are lovers, and the game thinks is okey to break up couples which are not married.
I would say that this new feature is not for player which want to tell her own story, because they got rid of the core feature to reroll whims for free if you don’t like a whim as... *buy pet toy number 1337* and you get now punished if you ignore wants for too long.
Because we all now beta tester of this feature it will maybe improve? I don’t know, I will not play whit these things, because I play sims 4 as sandbox and don’t need Wants&Fears. I only used whims in my modded game, and there only with bienchen whims mod. As long I do not find a mod which remove fears complete, I will not use this new feature.
Seriously, guys, I cannot tell you how much I despise this new feature. The Fear of Unfulfilled Dreams thing makes me literally homicidal (Simicidal?).
I was having fun with my whim overhaul mods, but even using them updated for Wants instead of Whims... Even with that, every last one of them has a Fear of a Dead End Job, whether it makes sense in context or not (it doesn't).
This isn't "Playing with Life" or telling my own story, it's telling a tale told by an idiot full of sound and fury signifying nothing.
I disabled mine...they still are there. I'm done with the game until this is fixed
