Build request - Allow rental apartments to have ground-level retail

Hello!

I love to build lots in sims and I have a future building request for mixed rental with businesses in the same building.

I am duplicating the apartment my gramma once lived in. It was built in the late 1910's.  The 4 residential units were upstairs, and the street level had 2 shops. Most of this old-style housing was only 3 to 4 floors because it lacked elevators. This apartment is in Oakland, California. This is a common city build type from the early 20th century that I'd like to see in-game. Many of them are being torn down now.
Old city buildings had multi-use rooms. This old building had a built-in trundle bed wall in the dining room with a giant walk-through closet behind it that you could pass through from the foyer to the bedroom in back. The trundle pulled down. When not sleeping,  it was a dining/activity room. It also had built-in craftsman-style bookshelves and large sliding pocket doors to separate the two main living areas and the kitchen. I have to use shoji doors because their size is more equivalent, even if the style does not match the Craftsman interior style.

Currently, the game does not allow me to have a businesses in the same building that is designated as rental apartments. Please fix this.

The business could be retail, belonging to a non-resident, or a resident's home business. Either way, it would be a more lifelike buiding for city builders. I will upload this to the exchange once I am finished, so others can play with it.

I'd also like to see a wider variety of roof trims; you can see the 'missions' style curvy half wall on the roof and bell turrets in the included image. I also attached a view of my build.

Thank you for considering this fix. I've included a photo of Gramma's old apartment so you can see what this style was like. Often, the lower businesses were clothing stores, a 5 and dime, a small grocery, a liquor store, a laundry, a bakery, etc.

  • Would love for this to be possible!!

So many packs and so little that each pack builds on top of the previous. Like passing trains, so close but… With the sims you have to play each pack/gameplay one at a time… It’s sad…

Imagine the possible scenarios that we could build if we could really use the different packs worked together! What a dream!

Seconding this. %100. There appears to be a bug where too many different actions from different packs and expansions that COULD be used to auto-solve basic need fulfillment cancel eachother out at a code level because there's no hierarchy of pack specific actions for it to just pick one (or at least one that makes any kind of contextual sense). TBH I could live with the occasional crash or corrupt save because I save and share my Sims to the Gallery and don't mind replaying my fave moments in my Sims lives, but it got to the point I had to make a forum acc today because I just had to say something about the pack compatibility issues, somethings just really should be a given by now, new packs breaking old packs shouldn't have been an issue to have escaped beta testing "into the wild" tbh.
