It's a shame they didn't add a "Tell Joke About Geese" social option.

How is that related to this issue ?

I'm just hinting lightheartedly that this isn't a bug either.... The participant types and outfits are specified for each lot type so object usage can be managed. A generic lot type does not associate with any specific set of objects therefore no sims are summoned and in my opinion this is a good thing since I like having the ability to create 'private hangouts' for my characters which aren't overrun by random townies and don't trigger spawning of useless NPCs.

Just enjoyed your explanation of a Generic Lot, both insightful and helpful, but brought up more questions in my poor head. I love the fact that all those NPC's aren't pestering my busy retail sims.... or me. Would be nice not cluttering their lots with all those pots, even with the splicing
For instance; If I make it a Perfect Harvest-able Garden on a Generic Lot, will the trees and plants be taken care of by an unseen NPC or will one of my families have to return each sim day to 'Tend'? Will they keep their harvest rates the same?
or,
Should I keep one or two unfortunate sims underground and have to remember to play them each sim day? A P.I.T.A., (a 'pain in the potuty'ish) with all the loading times.
or,
Should I just plant it as a Residential, then move and predesignate the lot as a Community Garden? Will the "Perfect" stay?
