Allow Building Outside Lot Boundaries / Full World Editing Option

Hello Sims Team,

I would love to see a feature in The Sims 4 that allows us to build outside of the current lot boundaries. Right now, we are limited to building only within the assigned lot space, but many players would like the freedom to expand their creativity into the surrounding world areas (streets, parks, water areas, etc.).

Having an “extended world build mode” or a true world editor would:

  • Give builders more creative freedom to make neighborhoods feel more alive.
  • Let us place houses, parks, or decorations outside the lot without relying on mods.
  • Make worlds feel more customizable and personal, which would keep the game fresh for long-term players.

Even if full world editing is not possible, adding an official option to place and edit objects outside the lot boundaries (similar to what mods like T.O.O.L. already allow) would be a huge improvement.

Thank you for considering this idea! Many of us builders in the community would really appreciate having more freedom to shape our Sims’ worlds.

  • There is a cheat I believe you can type into the game console (Lctrl+shift+c) or maybe it’s a mod, that lets you do just that. Though o agree it would be nice to be able to have a little more flexibility natively for world building.

  • The Sims has always been about creativity and freedom. For many of us, The Sims 3’s world editor was one of the best features ever added to the franchise. It gave players the ability to truly shape their neighborhoods, and it’s part of the reason why that game stayed so popular for so long.

In The Sims 4, things feel very different. Worlds are beautiful, but they are locked down and limited. Players are restricted to their lots, animations often feel repetitive or unrealistic, and the neighborhoods around us are just decoration. Many in the community are frustrated, saying the game feels too limited, boring, and lacking depth.

    That’s why I’m dreaming big:

    • Full world editing, like The Sims 3 had, would bring back the freedom players miss.
    • More realistic animations, like in The Sims 2, would make Sims feel alive again, instead of just spawning or clipping through fake doors.
    • These changes would make The Sims 4 feel fresh, exciting, and worth investing in, especially now that Sims 5 has been cancelled, leaving The Sims 4 as the flagship game.

If these features were added, players would finally stop complaining and start celebrating again. This is what so many of us truly want: freedom, realism, and creativity. If The Sims 4 is going to remain the main Sims experience, then please make it something truly worth keeping!
