Can you use the Seance Table to contact actual dead sims in your game?

I have played a ghosthunter once a long time ago and used  the Seance Table a little but I don't recall if you can actually contact sims that have died your game.  They should add the feature if they didn't originally.  Imagine when you built up your skill high enough actual sims that have died could first randomly contact your medium and later you would be able to specify which deceased sims you wanted to call up.  It is difficult sometiimes to locate the ghost of particular sims in your different neighborhoods,  especially if someone dies in a different location than their home lot.
