The numeric 0 is much bigger than the 1 and easier to hit making it the easiest to use for pause/un-pause so I can't really see why you would want the 1 key as pause instead of it meaning standard speed. What would you instead use for standard speed 0?

I don't think you understand that people can have vastly different keyboard layouts and mouse button functionality.
People can also have vastly different range of motion with their fingers due to things such as arthritis or other disabilities.
I honestly can't believe there is no option to change keybinds, it really is an issue that needs to be addressed as it is not only very inconvenient for many people but also a frustrating obstacle for people with disabilities.

I know that there can be reasons to change some keys but in this case the 1 key is literally just above the 0 key. You are welcome to suggest a benefit from exchanging the way these two keys work. Mouse buttons were not involved.

I guess I just wanted to point out for example that even my English keyboard has a slightly different layout than usual, the 0 key and 1 key are the same size and 1 is not directly above the 0.
I brought up mouse buttons as I have many extra buttons on the one I use, it would be extremely useful for me personally to be able to change certain bindings to those mouse buttons as I do for most other games. It is very common to be able to bind in game command to use mouse keys, even if its just the standard MB1, 2 and 3 that most mouses have.

@jpkarlsenI'm confused as to why you're catching such attitude about us wanting to change controls. This is obviously an issue to a lot of gamers. Why are you so adamant on disregarding people's preferences?

I recommend that you read my answers in this thread. I have not said that it wouldn't be nice to have the option but explained that there is no such option (unfortunately).

@jpkarlsenReading through your answers is how I came to my conclusion.
Yes, you do let people know that there are no options in changing such settings (obviously, otherwise this thread wouldn't exist). Yet your comments read as very: "why would you even want to use this silly option when you can already use this, more optimal option".
Just want to remind you that people have preferences, no need to diminish them 🙂

I know this is an old post but just started with SIms 4 and was looking up this topic of keybinds.
The answer here interested me, I don't know what type of keyboard has a numeric 0 that is bigger than all the other keys, and to clarify what I'm sure the person this was a response to was saying, 1 for pause makes so much more sense, then 2,3,4 for normal, fast and super fast.
0 is all the way at the end of the numbers so is just odd placement.
This is the way most games I have ever played have ever used the keyboard for speed. A few having space as pause instead of 0.
Minor quibbles overall, Sims does have a lot of fantastic options, just baffling to me what changing even basic keybinds is not one of them.- 2 years ago
I get the 0123 thing at least, 0 for no time is passing then 1 times, 2 times and 3 times speed 🙂 it does make sense from that perspective. even If I agree that we should be able to move controls however we want.
