cooking system refresh and ingredient update
Cottage living, horse ranch, and home chef have added a lot of features to the cooking system. More ingredients, new appliances, and more recipes. However, I still think cooking and gardening cook be more detailed and include a better variety of harvestables and crafting ingredients.
1. Add a milling appliances and milled product recipes. There are now buyable flour and sugar ingredients from cottage living. However, I would like to craft these products myself. I'd like to see new harvestables for wheat, oat, sugar cane, rice, and corn and crafting recipes for flour, sugar, corn meal, rice flour, and rolled oats. This would also include adding various homestyle, gourmet, and baking recipes to make use of the new ingredients.
2. Add an oil press appliance and recipes for craftable coconut oil (island living), avocado oil (jungle adventure), olive oil (olive tree harvestable), and corn oil (corn harvestable). Add a new deep fryer appliance and recipes for fried foods. The deep fryer could be filled with various craftable oils and the appliance would be compatible with the food sales table.
3. I'd like to see recipes and appliances for fermenting and drying ingredients to make dried spices from herbs, soy sauce from wheat, pickled vegetables, dried seaweed, and vinegar (vegetable and grape).
4. Add a spiralizer appliance for making noodles from dough for pasta and ramen recipes.
5. Add new tree harvestables for almonds, cashews, and peanuts and new canned recipes for various nut butters as well as a milling recipe for almond flour and recipes for plant milks.
6. Add a juicer appliance and make fresh juice from various harvestables.
7. Add a crepe maker appliance and make crepes with various fruits, condiments, and even top with powdered sugar and chocolate syrup.
8. Add a frosting prepped ingredient to the stand mixer and add frosting ingredient requirement to cupcakes and cake recipes. There are already animations that should frosting being added to cake, we just lack a frosting ingredient.
9. Add coffee bean and tea leaf harvestables, coffee and tea blend crafting recipes, and coffee ground and tea bag optional ingredients for the coffee and tea maker appliances.
10. Make the cook together interaction more useful. Firstly, I think child sims should be able to learn the cooking skill (though they should have a level cap until they age up). Also, sims that are cooking together with another sim just talk to them. They don't actually assist with prep or gain any cooking experience from observing. I think there should be a base game compatible easy bake oven appliance that sims can purchase for child sims and allow them to practice the cooking skill. It also helps that cupcake recipes were moved from baking skill to cooking skill. The cupcake factory is too large and there is a mini oven in DHD, but not everyone has that pack. They also won't be able to make other recipes in it, except a few cookies and cupcakes, because that's its intended purpose.
11. Add the ability to trade mini animals for meat. I didn't realize until I tried it, but mini animals can't be traded for meat. When I used the interaction on a mini goat, I received a bunch of harvestables in the mail. Goats and sheep are edible so where is the meat? Also, there could be a werewolf exclusive interaction to "butcher" any livestock animal and immediately receive raw meat in their inventory. That way, there are more options for obtaining raw meat other than the hunting rabbithole. Vampires would also have the option to turn livestock animals into plasma packs. They can already do this with frogs and fish. If you want vampires to be more friendly, they need more food options.
Gardening has gotten a small refresh. Cottage living rabbits and horse ranch mini goats can now do weeding. Seasons bee boxes also give garden buffs and there is an upgrade to make a composting toilet from eco lifestyle. However, everyone doesn't have eco lifestyle DLC or want a composting toilet. I would prefer to simply be able to craft a compost bin on the woodworking table, throw in spoiled food and harvestables, and retrieve fertilizer.
