Crows - why not parrots?

I love the crows. Doing my best to avoid adding them to every house in my game :) It's good that we can hear them when they are on the lot, it makes it easier to remember to tend to them. Hm, I actually started to notice crow sounds more often in real life, too :)

I can't help wondering why did we not get parrots, too? The animations could be more or less the same, even  the bird size would not be totally off. Sitting on a perch suits a parrot very well, the flying off and bringing gifts could be there, too, or not. Knowing that many simmers want parrots, I just don't understand why they were not introduced with this pack. They are practically made, already.

The only reason for EA to hold parrots back would be because they are already planned for a future pack. Maybe we'll get another mediterranean or tropical world next?

Or will the CC community serve us some recolors of the crow first?

  • I think parrots simply didn't fit the aesthetics of the pack. Too colourful and full of joy.

True, but they could have started with a grey and white bird (cockatoo?). Real joyful and colorful larger parrots might need a longer tail, though.

Don't know, maybe a magpie could have been added and it imitates sounds much like a parrot. And it's black too.

    LOL! I like joyful birds!!

You know I have been dive-bombed by crows in the city. They swoop right down and peck you in the head. One time I got real mad and fed up with it and I started yelling at all the city crows while walking down the street. That was not a good look for me. Some of these crazy crows are flat out bullies. 😕

How about a variety bird pack? Ranging from wild birds like crows, swallows, parrots and domestic birds like parrots, cocktail and canaries.

  • Little tip... If you do get a crow (or join the reaper career) do not complete the "ghost historian" aspiration. The reward trait for that aspiration makes it so your sim gets excited whenever they see a crow or Grim.  Your sim will stop whatever they are doing and jump and down and scream in excitement.  It's incredibly annoying and doesn't feel like a reward trait at all. Feels more like a punishment of some sort.

Haha, I will definitely avoid that! Thanks for the warning :)
