decluttering the calendar

the calendar is one of my favorite features of the game but with all the expansions packs the calendar is full of festivals and there's absolutely no breathing space for my own holidays and events. i don't want to rely on mods for this. can we please get an option to declutter our calendars to our own taste? thank you!
