Do Sims have Collision boxes?

After browsing the thread Funny pics and seeing Sims walking through Sims, animals and other things. I was wondering whether Sims have collision boxes or not?
By collision boxes I mean an internal box (inside the Sim) that prevents it from colliding with other objects or entities. 
Also Sims do often spawn in a spot that is already occupied.
