EA vs AI

Hi,

I begin to think The Sims franchise is outdated in term of story and creativity.

I mean now AI do things for free that EA never did in 26 years after paying almost $5000 of content (TS1, 2, 3 and 4).

CAS, B/B, Live Mode, ... everything feel low budget and low imagination when the world has so much more to offer.

The Sims used to be very creative 20 years ago, now it almost became a prison for creativity, EA doesn't "allow" you to tell your stories.

We are stuck with things like Sharing Is Caring NAP with NPC townies stealing tables and chairs in restaurant. The game plays against the players while AI tools are more cooperative.

It sounds like you need to code your own game. Sims 4 is a 12 year old game, since it launched in 2014. Even with the few updates, I expect it to be outdated compared to modern titles.

I was able to play the orginal The Sims from 2000 to 2015, when it no longer was able to be downloaded on Windows 10. I could find fun in it without mods for that long. I do refuse to repurchase it on the EA app. If I could just get my owned physical discs download to play, I would still play it. That iteration much more primitive.

Btw, I still play very old games. I even still have fun playing with games that were around before the windows operating system was on a majority of computers.

You have probably your reasons so I won't try to convince you.
To be honest everybody is different, it makes sense that you don't share the same point of view.

NoahLGP, Making fake images with AI is what gives off a VERY NEGATIVE IMPRESSION to me. It isn't "helping" you make a point. It IS just proving why I do not use or even trust anyone  who does use AI whatsoever.

I think I don't understand your point because the game looks fake too.

For example nobody on the planet would do a character relaxing like this after 26 years of experience.
Players paid for that and it took 5 years to get lounge chairs.

It takes 10 seconds and $0 to do this image with AI.
No paid content, no CC and no mods corrupting the game.

AI  is just a extremely worthless tool. I consider it to be a non-essential thing for ALL aspects of life including, but not limited to video games. If you need AI to to enjoy or play  a video game, it gives off the impression that you actually lack critical thinking AND creativity skills. At least that is the impression I am being given.

I have been playing the franchise since the first iteration of the game. The concepts of each franchise have been to play and create with the limitations within each game. It can be challenging to create and play within the confines of the game. It also can get too easy if you know how to exploit certain game mechanics. You are only stuck with the game mechanics you have chosen to purchase. Your example of the NAP mechanic can also be disabled if it is so bothersome. While some game mechanics can not be disabled, they can be easily manipulated without AI.

Btw, the AI pictures provided in your original post do not even look creative. They just look so fake.

  • Thank you for putting my thoughts into words. The Sims feels so lacking when it comes to storytelling, logic, and meaningful direction. I recently learned about a mod that uses AI to give Sims their own inner thoughts and create more dynamic storylines. Seeing what AI can bring to the game has actually made me more disappointed in EA for not exploring these possibilities themselves. It made me realize just how much potential this game has, and how much more immersive it could be. I can only hope The Sims continues to improve in these areas.
