Thank you, fatalmoon65, and I thought I was alone with those thoughts! ❤️😉 While I do understand the purpose of their post, it did undermine those who are careful and considerate players! That's why this article felt like a slap. On top, trying to be funny, like it's some kind of joke and not a serious topic, because this game costs a fortune for most players in the world. This article is not quite carefully written with people in mind who struggle with their game and do all the things right. Then they are instructing you to be careful and telling you about how you should play your game? Sounds to me like scolding a little toddler for playing too much. But considerate simmers do exist, and so do the issues. 😆 The Sims Community is diverse in many ways. Especially in how they play their game. I can see both sides: those who overdo it and don't know what they are doing, and then wonder why their game is not working as intended. That said, on the other hand, individuals like myself, who are technically knowledgeable, understand the potential impact of such a game and what needs to be monitored and observed, specifically when utilizing MODS. I think the wording was sort of off, and that's actually what bothered me the most.
Plus, as you mentioned, players who play Xbox or PlayStation have no chance to mod anything—you guys HAVE TO BE creative in order to enjoy your game on those platforms. PC gamers are at least able to mod the game and even fix some errors this game has.
I don't mind a "neutral/objective" post or information that explains how people with problems can try to limit potential issues. But please do address those people who need it. The tone of the article matters, too. But in the end, how many windows, mirrors, sinks, portals, etc., are too many? How am I, as a player, supposed to know where I should stop?
- How many computers are too many if I have Sim parents who want to use their own PC? Why do I have the ability, then, to lock the PC usage for other Sims? We can lock it and prevent other Sims from using this PC, right?
- When do I need to worry? What if I want to place 5 doors with glass and enough windows, kitchen sinks, etc.? Why? I like this style. I need bedrooms, a kitchen, and a living room. And a couple of bathrooms with mirrors in a household of 8 Sims for fixing their needs, and I want to be able to simulate their life without worrying if this is maybe too much?
- We could go on and on, and that's why I have an issue with their post
This game has been developed to create homes and simulate life, and now I need to worry about what and how many game assets I place?
Those instructions are surely NOT the "FUN" part of this game. Excuse me, we paid for this? It "takes away" the JOY. I never needed to worry about a game's performance in the past, and now I have to? Maybe, if they cannot fix the base game, the bugs, etc., it's time to move on and create a new game that can handle all this. TECHNOLOGY has advanced, especially in GAMING, within the last 15 years.
The Unreal Engine, for example, uses a new 'Nanite' technology where polygons, for example, are calculated in a way that no longer affects performance in ways that it does with older games. Nanite significantly improves rendering performance for complex meshes by handling a large number of polygons, high-resolution details, and a dramatic reduction in CPU is the result. This frees up, for example, the CPU to handle other tasks, such as simulations. This is just one example, and I'm sure there are more features that could be utilized today to improve the 'gaming experience.' However, this is not our responsibility; it's theirs. They are the professionals, and we are the gamers!
We pay to have fun, not to monitor our joy! - It contradicts the purpose of playing a game! 😮🤔🤨
Yet, The Sims, as a low-poly game with stacked low-poly assets, is crashing. Makes no sense unless something is fundamentally broken and beyond repair because of all the broken DLCs we got in recent years. If they weren't broken, maybe it would work?
If they don't want to revisit the basegame and try to fix the foundation and reduce a gazillion errors or bugs within their broken DLCs? Maybe, just maybe, it's simply time to move on. Let Sims 4 rest and leave it for those who will still play it. Our community is incredibly skilled in fixing their errors and it would be at least playable again. All I need to say is: Carl's Mod does fix the errors in DINE OUT but the TEAM can't do this, somehow? 🤨😆
PS: However, the multi-billion-dollar corporation should have enough manpower and be able to fix their errors and not rely on Simmers and the MODDING Community—but this is another topic. 😅
