Sims team, thank you for keeping a close eye on this issue and making it a priority to update the constant pulse of the button.
There's a lot of anger on this thread which, while I believe it is misdirected, is still warranted. It's no secret that gaming companies have been getting more and more malicious with their marketing tactics, and this absolutely falls in line with that. The new button is easy to click accidentally, distracts from gameplay, and pushes paying for extra content during every moment of the game. People who don't know what this button is might mistake it for a new feature that adds to actual gameplay such as sending your sims shopping for new clothes or maybe thinking that it's a new button for buy mode. We haven't even seen what happens when sales are going on for packs that this button recommends to us.
I understand that this predatory business tactic was likely pushed by executives higher up than the Sims team that we've all been screaming at, but it is an insult to the players and needs to be removed as soon as possible. Everyone, even the new players who just downloaded the base game today, knows that there's DLC available for this game. It's plastered all over the mandated launchers and all over the title screen when you launch the game. We already have the ability to purchase packs in-game. We already are given constant reminders every time we travel or go to manage worlds that we don't have all the packs. This crosses the line, and you WILL lose customers because of it. Some may not come back, even if you remove the button. It cheapens the game and preys on consumers.
The best games are the ones built on passion, not on greed.
