Update: I've moved this thread from the Bug Reports section now that the Epatch is confirmed to have resolved the aspects of the shopping cart we considered bugged. This thread is now in the Feedback section to aide me in gathering and reporting all of the conversations taking place here for the team.
For me, this partial "fix" is not enough. Please make the button not "animate" at all. Any flashing or movement at all is too much. I still cannot update my game (and therefor cannot buy new packs) until this is gone.
I also would like the calendar button to not flash as well, but at least I can prop an index card up against my monitor to cover that because it's at the bottom of the screen and next to buttons I don't use a lot. The location of this marketing button makes it difficult to cover up (especially because it is next to buttons that I use a lot like "manage households" etc.)
I agree with other posters that it should not even be in the game at all. We are perfectly aware of what packs exist. There is marketing for them on the EA app at launch, on the main menu screen, on the Sims 4 news page. If we haven't bought a pack yet, there is a real world reason for that. This in-game marketing is completely unnecessary, and is extremely unlikely to cause anyone to buy anything that they weren't already planning to buy. It is simply going to lose you loyal customers who can't play with that thing flashing. This is not an acceptable way to market. It is invasive, immersion breaking, and irritating. Good marketing gets players excited about the new packs, not causes them distress and irritation. Please remove it.
EDIT to add: Just in case EA looks at my account and thinks "they've only played for under 100 hours, their opinion doesn't matter", this is not true. I always play offline. I only go online to download patches or new DLC I bought. By conservative estimate (yes, I actually did the math) I have put in over 3000 hours of playtime on this game since I bought the base game in 2017. It just doesn't show because your counter doesn't count offline play hours. This game matters a lot to me.
