@ReneHollyDesign1 @SqueamishNerd I wonder whether not eating until full actually helps at all. Since the hunger bar will decline at the same rate (absent a mod or reward trait), don't your sims just end up eating more smaller meals throughout the day? I'd only expect that to help, from a game mechanic standpoint, if being full was itself a contributing factor to weight gain.
At any rate, I think we all agree that there should be a way for sims to maintain their weight without reward traits or mods, and without having to spend a lot of their time in designated athletic activities.
I've been thinking about if this could be considered a bug, since other tuning issues are sometimes considered bugs despite originally being by design. I honestly don't think it sends out good signals that even something like a lettuce-based salad makes sims gain weight.

@SqueamishNerd I tested today and only let the Sim have one meal a day and she was very hungry with the line in red before I let her eat. Salads and Yogurt she made. Then when she was hungry later I top her up using UI cheats. I spent from about 1 pm till 11:30 pm with this Sim to see if it would stop them from gaining. It didn't work. I took her in CAS and she was bigger. Not a whole lot bigger but still bigger, still she gained weight. Over time it would be the same problem.

@SqueamishNerdI'm definitely thinking it is a bug or tuning issue because lately as the game has got so busy with Growing Together and Horse Ranch, my Sims have just had an inventory of harvestables and snacked on fruit and veg during the day while rushing around, but still gained weight. I'm testing on a family right now without the High Metabolism Creation Trait, eating fruit salad for breakfast and a healthy meal like Mushroom Steak in the evening. I've got the husband's sister in a different lot who hasn't eaten yet as she's new, then I've got some recent Sims with High Metabolism and I'm studying all of them to see how they change. It's like Sims Health Census 2023 here.
Plus there's the Sims I've previously created who just continue to gain weight after I switch households. They're not eating at all effectively except for if I invite them over.
I want them all to have different body types and just stay that way but it's one extreme or the other.
Another thing I'm going to test is making them thinner with the reward potion and doing the same with the Taste of Diet ice cream, then shaping them with sliders to give them curves, etc and seeing if they stay that shape. There is a bug report for NPCs going back to 2018 here:
https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/OPEN-CL-Extreme-Weight-Gain-for-NPCs/td-p/7016756/page/3
I mean, the fact it's so old doesn't give me hope. I notice that reports of played households as well as NPCs have been added too, and recently as well.
