For any of those arguing that women in Christian culture never had to cover their hair and that hats in churches were just a fashion choice: untrue. While some wore hats as just a pretty accessory and still do, you’ll definitely find more traditional people even nowadays who think women should wear some sort of head covering, at least once they’re married. Parts of Eastern Europe even have a wedding tradition called capping where the bride has a cap/hat put on that she is then expected to wear when she’s in public.
