[FR] [CHEAT] Unable to increase rental unit cap

Same here, I thought I am doing something wrong, but I believe this has been removed with the new update. 😔

I believe the devs stated they were removing this cheat as it was contributing to the save degradation glitch.

Respectfully, put this cheat back. I'm so annoyed that this is how I found out.

I started a new save after the updates, deleted my previous save, and now find out it can't have a similar structure??

This is not included in the list of "fixes" on the November 4, 2025 update. Removing features, including official cheats, materially alters the game.

Official cheat: "bb.increaserentalunitcap on" no longer working since November 4th update, not identified in list of "fixes."

Materially altered gameplay, please reinstate this official cheat to restore the game function at purchase.

They did announce it here: Community Concerns with Save File Issues - October 2025 Update | EA Forums - 12690410 However, it should also have been in the patch notes and wasn't, which is frustrating.

They really should bring the cheat back. I just finished building my big apartment and was about to assign rooms to each household when I found out we can only have up to 6 families now — that’s how I learned the cheat had been removed. It’s honestly such a letdown for someone like me who loves having a lively neighborhood and enjoys building up a community.

This forum post has almost 300 views in six days: clearly people are wondering what happened to the cheat. I also had made a forum post about this issue that seems to have strangely disappeared.

I don't think they should have removed the cheat altogether, that materially alters the game. Instead, a reduction in maximum number of units per lot (instead of 99, but obviously much greater than 6) could have been an option. Some lots have 7+ units and now we can't increase it without mods (which I want to avoid).

This needs more traction. EA needs to put that cheat back. This is the way I found out after spending hours creating my apartment building just to see the cheat not work when I get done is very, very disappointing.
