General option to make cats & dogs spawn in all worlds

One of the reasons I installed Cats & Dogs is because I wanted to start seeing pets walking around the different worlds since I believe that enriches the general gameplay. However that's limited to Brindleton Bay as of today.

While I understand this might not be everyone's preference, I don't think it's fair to make it an opt-in only option that forces you to waste multiple lot trait slots to make pets appear around your home or a community lot. I would like to see a global toggle in the game options to enable pets spawning in most worlds (strictly vacational worlds like Granite Falls might be exempted from it). The lot traits we have now could still serve the purpose of letting you apply custom options (maybe you want to see only stray/pet cats/dogs specifically).

Thank you for reading!

  • Exactly what i think. If they could make an option to keep werewolves only in Moonwood Mill or not, they can and definetly SHOULD do it for cats and dogs.

  • I absolutely wouldn't want this for strays but yes to dog walking and maybe an intrepid little cat on a hunting exploration. I actually think we should be able to toggle strays off altogether in Game Options. I bought Cats and Dogs while grieving a sudden pet bereavement and my first visit to Brindleton Bay involved seeing not only strays but sick strays which I found really horrible tbh. But I'd like to see Sims walking their pets around other worlds more. For some reason I do see them outside Planet Honey Pop in San Myshuno waiting for their owners but I don't see them around other worlds except for strays in the jungle (with Jungle Adventure) and Moonwood Mill (with Werewolves) which is even worse. I also see cats in Glimmerbrook occasionally but not often.

But the biggest thing I'd really like to see is the ability to adopt a pet from wherever they are. Too often my Sims meet a stray and the interactions are really laggy if the pet is going to do something like be vocal or take a nap, or they run off. My Sims end up with the start of a relationship with the pet and I have to keep looking for them. You'd think we'd just be able to meet up with them again by travelling to a spot together, but in fact that doesn't work. The Sim can indeed meet up with the pet through travel but then the Adopt option doesn't pop up. It's very frustrating indeed. I had one Sim who would just meet up with a dog named Bentley to feed him and take him for a walk but couldn't adopt him until he finally randomly appeared again in a Brindleton Bay spot. She had to ignore so many other strays just waiting for this little dog to appear again to get the Adopt option. She couldn't even get the option to adopt him on her home lot🐕.
